At first I couldn't understand her. But then I got used to the way she spoke and I am glad I stuck with it. Because she gave lots of useful information. and towards the end her accent didn't bother me at all.
5.07..wash it with normal soap? The detergent will enter the pores in clay pot and next time when you cook food, it gets in the food. Consuming detergent long term can cause serious illness. My suggestion is to use baking soda or salt or just wash it with plain water and clean with a soft scrubber and once in a while boil water in it with a slice of lemon to get rid of the smell.

If you put hot water in a pot that has red oxide, then you can use a litmus paper to test this. If you put a litmus paper in the water and it turns blue then it has red oxide

The process you are mentioning is baking which needs to be done. Glazing is done after that and many a times to give the product a better aesthetic look. Glazing usually closes the pores of the clay and the property of the clay goes away

No, it just means it's glazed. There's a vitrified layer on the inside that makes it so it's not porous anymore. But it's completely safe and I think you can even wash the shiny part with soap without problem.
Depending on the source you get it from. The clay may have glaze added to it in the process it will look like a shiny smooth glaze look. This is only to allow it to none stick I supposed. But not healthy for us. Hope this helps

its possible.. the only issue with that is it closes a lot of the pores in clay, the pores play a very important role in the cooking process and breathing of clay (Its called). not to say they do not work .. just a trade off one has to look at.. :)
Sorry to say but we can still find such real pot without chemicals in villege weekly market .. I still buy earthen pot for cooking rice... Which hardly cost me 100-150 and it easily survive up to 1-2 yrs..if you can handle better way...it can useful up to several years

soak it in starch water. That may help in removing the smell of clay if its still there. Generally , the clay earthy smell lasts only for a few days and not for months.

Hi It is generally the earthy smell or if sometimes the clay has some impurities stuck in the pores - could have a foul smell. We recommend you soak (In a bucket of water add starch water or arrow root powder) it in starch water for 2 days and then wash them well and use. generally this process will remove the foul smell or the earthy scent.

Is there a preference for glazed or unglazed clay pot for stove top cooking? I’m not sure if you were implying that glazed pots protect the food from the clays. I’m not sure if unglazed pots are preferential because the pores are open. Thank you.
glazed pots are not good for cooking as predominantly the glazing has lead contamination.always use unglazed clay for cooking.

Hi It is generally the earthy smell or if sometimes the clay has some impurities stuck in the pores - could have a foul smell. We recommend you soak (In a bucket of water add starch water or arrow root powder) it in starch water for 2 days and then wash them well and use. generally this process will remove the foul smell or the earthy scent.

You can boil starch water. We are not aware of boiling milk to make it non stick.

it could turn black if it gets into the pores. Wash them well and sun dry it. Helps a lot.
