      @@addiecastelino5902 yeah cooking in earthen pots gives food a earthy flavour. That too slow cooked over a wooden fire added to the flavour. Some comments here are about leaking. I think it is the condensation property of earthen jars, like the amphoras. There are conflicting videos about what water is the clean one to drink - the one that stays inside the jar, or the one that comes out of the jar. What can you say about this evaporation/condensation property of earthen jars? Could you enlighten us about this? Thanks.

    hi Di, I am planning to use a plant propagation in clay pot with perlite in it for long term and will be difficult to clean from inside on regular basis. Do you recommend using clay pot for it, as it may get mould from inside ?

    • @SahanasWorld
      @SahanasWorld  Рік тому

      You can use the clay pot for propagation but you need a water drain hole even if you use perlite as the pot is large there is less evaporation of water so there is a chance of root rot if you do not have a drain hole

    What's the shelf life of this earthen pot when to throw it away?

    • @SahanasWorld
      @SahanasWorld  3 роки тому +1

      To be very frank a good quality earthen pot has no shelf life meaning it can go on for years... and the older it gets the faster the water cools..
      but there are a few things to notice here.. if the water is too hard the pot can be discolored or may have white patches in long run due to minerals in water..
      When to change the pot?
      If your pot is discolored, cracked or leaking only then you change the pot. Otherwise clean regularly and maintain and use the same pot for years.

    • @SahanasWorld
      @SahanasWorld  3 роки тому +1

      If you can see visible cracks or chipping then fill water at different levels and check for leaks everyday..
      One day fill 1/4 pot and check.. if it’s not leaking the crack is above that level. Mark with a chalk..
      Next day add half pot water and check leaking.. Thai way you can find out approximate leakage area..
      Once you are able to check the approximate area fill below it and leaking should not happen..
      you will have a fair idea 💡 if it’s cracked from inside and if it’s constantly leaking then you may have to change the pot..

    • @SahanasWorld

      It depends on what you are used to drinking..
      if you drink tap water you can add tap water to the pot.. but if you are asking me if the pot can be used to filter out impurities then NO.. the pot only helps cool water and not purification like a filter or water purifier does..
      Moreover if you use hard water to drink from the tap adding that on the pot to cool can make the pot looks whitish from inside due to build up of salts and it’s difficult to clean

    Bought new clay pot and washed it and poured tap water and left for about 24 hours to remove any mud smell, I threw that water cleaned and filled aquaguard water,later I noticed it's having fishy stinking smell. What is the reason and what to do?

    • @SahanasWorld
      @SahanasWorld  3 роки тому +2

      I have clearly shown in the video to add warm water and leave for it to cool completely then add drinking water.
      Reasons why the water could have a stench:
      The water may be left in the aquaguard tank for 2-3 days. In summer sometimnes even purified water could have small algae groth of left unsused for 1-2 days.
      The filter in your aquaguard could not be cleaning the watewr well and may be time to replace it.
      If these things are ruled out
      then the pot could be in a sunny area where the water could grow algae.
      the pot itself could have small crack and crevices inside for algae growth that may have not been cleaned well. check for any uneven surface and cracks.
      if you check all these things and still same i would ask you to please clean the pot well with vinegar and salt solution(safe for you compared to dish cleaning soap) and repeat the curing process meantioned and dry the pot for one day.
      Then wash with clean water and add drinking water.
      Hope this helps. :)

    • @vijaykumar-pf7kw
      @vijaykumar-pf7kw 3 роки тому +2

      Thank you for the response. I have added normal tap water and left 24 hours to remove mud smell so maybe bcz of that it stinked. I will be cleaning regularly my aquaguard tank every month as I have AMC, even aquaguard guys visit and clean it regularly and check out the filters so the tap water is the one which might have caused the fishy smell.
      As per your video cleaned with salt and water,then added warm water and left it to cool. It really worked and no more smell. I added aquaguard water now and no smell. Thanks to you for the instructions in the video. It really worked like a miracle. I have even forwarded your video to my friends also.

      Good question.. so first of all the salt that is built up is not the common salt that we eat it’s a different kind of salt like in hard water.. we use common salt to scrub the insides of the pot because it is edible and any residue left behind won’t harm us and also it is abrasive enough to clean the salt built up inside the pot. As we cannot use any chemical or even scrubs to avoid damage to the pot.. hope this clarifies..
