Love the laptop, but Im just as impressed with the detail of this video and methods used to demonstrate its performance. Ive also seen the Scar 18 video, and a couple others. This is the best laptop gaming channel, period. Well friggin' done.
Awesome tests once again. Thanks for trying these out!
U did a great job with the skin applying. 👏🏼
Blade 16 thermal throttles on the best core a little, especially in games against the 4090, the 13950HX is bottlenecking hard. But run it with undervaluing of -0.150mv for core ratio and similar settings to what you have for the rest, gets a score of about ~31002 in Cinebench R23.
Thanks for the run through of the settings really helped me get the score up and reduces the thermal throttle.
Blade 16 definitely worth it because of the Mini LED display. Looks better and brighter than my OLED main PC display.
👍 Great video
We really need that speaker comparison
My dream tool. Soon to be acquired wanting God.
Enjoying your videos keep up the great work!
I think you're right about this laptop.
Loads of potential.
No RGB puke. No glitter.
Has dual use as an armor plate when SHTF and TLGO.
Don't forget no bloatware
I copied your exact under-volt for my CPU and it improved my performance even more. I have the Blade 16 4080.
Hello, I’ve the same laptop and I’m unable to activate overcloking in synapse, i’ˆve turn off core isolation but I’ve always a system incompatibility. Any advice? Thanks
What does it say? You probably also need to turn off Virtual Machine Platform too or Hyper-V
@@GizmoSlipTech it says, system incompatibility when i want to toggle on the overclocking button, even if i turn off virtual machine and restart. I've update the bios but nothing changed.. really weird
@@maximebarca9694 memory isolation or whatever it’s called in windows defender
Finally! The video ive been waiting for bro!
Great video thank you. Did you update the nvidia drivers when you did this or is everything stock? Do you recommend updating them via nvidia?
I got ordered both scar 18 and blade 18. Performancewise, scar wins much cooler but I decided to go with the blade 18. At the end, they both run all the games I want to play flawlessly and I just like the design and build quality of the blade better.
Do you think the Mini LED in the Razer does really makes a difference?
Do you mean the scar runs cooler, or it is neater?
Love the videos man! Do you use a laptop cooler on the Blade 18? If so can you recommend? Thanks man!
sir do you still like the legion 7 2021 design and rgb?
hi Love your videos. Please help me decide between this blade 18 , Zephyrus Duo and the Asus scar 17 1023 w Ryzen 9. Thank you!!
I really wish Razer would drill fake speaker holes on the Blade 18. Seeing the gap on the speaker section annoys me too much. The second small gripe I have with this laptop is the hinge vent. The display is pushed back further than it needs to be with the vent and there is a gap where you can see the table it is sitting on.
That's stupid 😂fake speakers just for looks
How do games look at QHD+ on a UHD+ screen?
i will go with the msi titan i like the power and design of it
Cool
Really nice video, thanks!
Please do the unboxing of the Alienware M18
Already ordered and coming in March
Sir, can you do gaming test on 4k resolution on 20 games please
Brandon, How did you manage to instal Intel XTU, it doesn’t want to install and says failed setup 😒
Hi, my Razer 18 is making a popping sound which comes from the monitor! Does anyone have the same issue?
Здравствуйте. Вам известно, когда в продажу поступит Acer Predator Helios 18?
Why they don't make the numerical keys
what's up with the idle temps and screen flickering? I've seen in other reviews some complaints about it
A year on, did you keep it? And how is it?
I just got my Blade 16 today (would have gotten the 18 if it had a UHD display like the 16 - I need 4K for my content creation), and I managed to get over 21,000 in Timespy with it too, 22,000 Graphics and even hit 17,000 on the CPU with an undervolt. I've noticed I get much better results with undervolting if I keep all 3 offsets to the same value, however. Core, Cache, and efficiency, all set to -125mv.
It's nice to see how close the 16 comes to the 18, I was hesitant to go for a 16" laptop as I'm used to always going for the big ones with better cooling, but this generation is leaving me with no choice due to the total lack of 4K display options. I first tried the obscure Clevo x370 for its 4K display, but it was a disaster of issues from dead pixels to 90C on the CPU at idle with roaring fans for no reason, and many others have had the same issue. So it was either the Blade 16 or the Titan, and I didn't find the very slightly higher performance of the Titan worth the extra cost and bulk this time around.
thanks for the tips, im a content creator too, and I'm looking for razer blade quality
YES, thank you sir! I was worrying about this - how to keep the 330W Brick on the ground - now if it is 182cm from brick to laptop - that's fine! Razer add battery limitting because they had failry high failure rate of their supplier puch Li-poly batteries. Of course it's better to have it than not have it (the setting). Why you did not show thermal throttling on package and cores - list details - I was considering this laptop, but I see a lot of biased reviews all-around the YT, and just few honest responses from actual owers on the reddit. That's suspicious af.
Can you send me the spider data color file?
Anyone know where to get a 2nd 330w power adapter from?
I’d check razer store, maybe ebay
Any screen bleeding? I got none out of the box, week later, both my top corners are noticeable. :( I also just received the blade 16 4090 and WOW that mini LED screen is sharp and crisp! Unfortunately 4k the performance is significantly lower compared to my blade 18.. really undecided whitch to keep! :? HELP
Minor backlight bleed in my unit. Not major.
@@GizmoSlipTech What would you do if you were me? keep the 16 or 18?
@@steeveabitbol2466 I'm wondering the same. Trying to decide between the 16 and 18
Asus should focus on getting out AGESA updates on their AMD laptops before working on undervolting.
New model features a 13980 with 64gb of ram. We need benchmarks
good for coding ? im really not into gaming laptop, my budget is 2999 can anyone suggest the laptop which is good in gaming as well as gaming, as i was thinking to gift my friend who is in engineering collage.
my last yerar 17 is around 300 nits is 500 nits boost much noticeable?
Yes, for most people. But also colors and contrast are important
@@GizmoSlipTech Yes, colour volume is about the same, contrast also on par, only thing that is significatly improved is +200 nits of brightness..I was just wondering how does it compare...TY
You say you are going to put 2 x 8TB SSDs in this thing, It was my understanding that only single sided SSDs will fit, and the 8TB SSDs are double sided. Am I wrong?
I will find out soon!
I know this is a year ago, but in the Blade 18 you can use double sided SSDs - its only in the smaller models where they stack the SSD slots so they can't be double sided.
What won you over on the 18 when compared to the 16 with the 4090?
Lower metal body temperatures while gaming, slightly more performance, m.2 slots that can fit my 8 tb double sided ssds, bigger screen, better speakers, and a RTX 4090 that can be paired with a QHD+ display. The 16 doesnt have that option currently.
@@GizmoSlipTech Solid response! Thank you, I was literally watching your other video while driving to the Razer store to pick one out. the 16 one out because it fits in bag a little better, and the mini led display won me over.
Omg.. the skin over the intel and nvidia stickers bothered soooo much when I noticed
Should I be worried that my first run of cina on my blade 18 was 28k…?
I would say that's about average for a Blade 18 imho. It doesn't run as well as the others at the top end.
Where can I get the skin? It’s beautiful ❤
You can get skins like this from Razer store, not sure if you can get this exact one though because this was limited edition for first orders of the Blade 18 and came free with the laptop
Ooooh thank you!
what about flickering issue?
Currently, switching to dedicated Nvidia GPU mode fixes it. Bad battery life right now though…
nice air fryer
So even in the 4090 model they are using two 1TB drives, another deal killer, as I want a 2TB main drive (minimum and non negotiable, I have a ton of music software to install) and 2TB second drive (maybe even a 4TB) strictly for games. Non negotiable. I'd literally have to remove both drives AND ram sticks it comes with (to put in 64GB and 2x2TB drives). Honestly I'd just be buying the shell and cpu and GPU. For 8.5K AUD lol. SO under specced for the price. I'd have to do a clean install of a system that really is already perfectly set up without bloatware, and no AV! Razers are the one system that you just turn on and don't need to uninstall anything. Kudos to them for that. If you are happy with internals nor do you need a clean install. Kudos again. Fair is fair.
In any case, Razer lied once again, they said in the 4090 model it's one 2TB drive. Typical shenanigans.
Raid 0 is useless for gaming and makes precisely 0 difference to loading times. All it does is endanger your data. This has been proven (loading times I mean) ad nauseum.
Furthermore, to take advantage of copy/paste transfer speeds you'd need another drive just as fast you'd be transferring to/from. How would that happen? Even a thunderbolt array could not do it.
Again, R.A.I.D. in a laptop 10000000% pointless.
I ended up with the GT77/13980HX/64GB/4TB/4090 but am having some strange click noises when GPU loaded and may be returning it. Not sure what to do.
I think the M18 might be what's calling my name, since the store has no GT77 in stock to replace with (and my laptop is all of 4 days old). The M18 comes standard in OZ with a 2TB (single drive), 4090, 64GB ram. I mean the 4090 so far can run any 4K game with RT and Ultra settings (if you want 60 fps minimum) as LONG as DLSS is used. Games from 2 years ago can do over 100 FPS in native 4K.The 4080 is only 14% weaker than the 4090 in the laptop and therefore will definitely drive any game for foreseeable future at either 1440P, or 1600P if you want to play in 16/10. So maybe save cash and get the 4080? Hmmm, food for thought.
l will just have to get used to the 350 nit 1600P screen in the Alienware but at least I'll get G-Sync back.
I'll also add a second drive. It's also 2.5K cheaper than the Razer, with double the ram! Work that out.
Of course this is all moot if MSI can confirm this noise happens and not to worry, as then I'll be keeping it.
Actually, 4090 Alienware M18 with 64Gb ram and a 2TB SSD is cheaper than *4080* Razer 18 with 1TB SSD and 32GB ram!
Ok, on further inspection, Alienware charge 1000$ more AUD exactly (~600 USD) for the 4080 to 4090, but that DOES include a 1TB to 2TB OS drive upgrade also, and I might even buy a second 2Tb drive from them so I don't need to do a thing nor ever open the laptop. Maybe it's worth it for the 16GB Vram future proofing and knowing any game at 1440P or 1600P ultra will be 60 FPS+ for years to come.
Even if I pay the $800 AUD extra for the second 2TB drive direct from Dell, ludicrous price sure but entire system then covered by Alienware's unbeatable warranty - it STILL works out to 6944 AUD for M18 with 13980HX/4090/64GB/2x2TB SSD vs 7099$ for Razer 18 with 13950HX/4080/32GB/1x1TB SSD! WTF?
6 speakers and slightly higher brightness do not make the Razer worth more money for inferior performance and specs.
If I return my MSI and get a refund, that's what I am doing, the M18. Done. I'll miss the 4K mini LED but gain G-sync and best warranty in biz. I'll live lol!
It may be a regional thing but the Razer Blade 18 with 4090 is available in more than 1 configuration. The one I have comes with a single 2TB drive and 64GB RAM.
@@flaviousmaximus3484how you get that model

2 years? bro you gotta change tshirts once in a while... amazing there is not mold growing on it
I wish you would have done these tests without doing any overclocking
beforehand, in particular, maybe some of us don't want to use other apps outside of synapse that may jeopardize our warranties on this very expensive machine.
I will be doing no OC settings for the main benchmarking livestream, don’t worry
if you could incorporate no overclocking that would be cool and/or overclocking that is facilitated within the razes apps that does not involve other apps
Buy a camera already
It is my device for 2023-2028 LOL
Lol, I can never keep a laptop that long xD
with that cpu temp I doubt it'll last that long
My Razer Blade 15 with 1070 is almost 5 years old now and still works like new. It stays at a constant 100 celsius during games. So I would think that the Razer Blade 18, which is much cooler, will last at least as long.
Which is better blade or Scar18
I’m wondering the same
Having seen this reviewers video on both, I think its safe to say that the scar may have better performance but is built to a tighter budget in the quality of manufacture. The blade appears almost as good but with a more premium quality experience. Therefore, which one is better depends on what you value more. For me, I just purchased the blade.
@@michaelfinch1965 are you liking it? tell me a bit please
@@monicaflbarbosa Hi Monica, so far I have to say that I am enjoying my time with the Blade. I share my gaming/computing space with my wife in the lounge room and we have put some effort into making that space to be both aesthetically and ergonomically pleasing, the blade looks very classy on my desk. No flash “look at me” rbg to ruin a common space.
Performance wise it runs all the games I wish to play as well as Lightroom and Photoshop without any fuss. The screen is big, bright and clear, zero complaints.
The keyboard is a joy and nice and silent (unlike the razer Tartarus).
I had a brief moment with some intermittent flashy screen nonsense, but once it updated it all went away.
The fans (I usually have them set in the middle of the slider) work well and are not obnoxious. Also, thankfully I have noticed zero coil whine, that would drive me nuts.
I would recommend this computer to friends, but hate the pricing.
Oh, there is one thing I hate, cant seem to find a travel sleeve/cover that fits. Ffs razer, make a portable 18” without a means to protect it during transit 😑. I am sure they will crop up in time.
@@michaelfinch1965 Is it possible to upgrade it to 64 GB? It doesn't make sense for such an expensive machine with only 32 GB available... The new colour mercury looks amazing did you see it?
Wow that is impressive. Razer is much more competitive with this 18 than the 17's were. As soon as they start selling the 64GB Config I am ordering one. Nice and compact and not a huge performance hit, that is the way to go!
@Sigurd The 64GB Config has the 13980HX and a single 2TB drive instead of 2 x 1TB. Its supposed to be available in March.
why would someone choose this over the msi titan?
This is more portable. Thinner and lighter. All metal. Better speakers. Better webcam. Faster ram, so some cpu bound games play better. Windows undervolting controls. Better fan noise acoustics. Different modern styling.
But the Titan has raw power, more performanxe features, and brighter display with much better contrast and resolution.

Razer laptops are a lot more expensive the other brands where i live. So never a option i consider
The worst thing about this laptop (in terms of usability) is the fact that it's a 16:10 aspect-ratio, 18" laptop with NO NUM PAD! 🤦
It is quite beautiful and elegant but it lacks minimalist details to be the MacBook Pro, for example to make the computer boot faster, it should only load with the window logo, not load the Razer logo, error number 1, error 2nd ports usb 1.0 type a, discarded, those ports just take up space. today the best udb type c. 3rd and lacks the MagSafe charge.
Can it support RAID0, though?

I am away from Razer due to razer 14 bloat battery issue.
Razer offering a 2 year warranty now, but you can get an extended warranty if needed
My Blade 15 is 4 years old, no battery bloat.
@@GizmoSlipTech what is the situation about bloating in other brands ? It happens their gaming laptops ?
@@Ryzen-gw7yl I believe that the problem with swollen batteries is related to too high thermal conductivity of the aluminum chassis. During active use, the laptop heats up and the battery comes out in a kind of thermal chamber, and gradually overheats as well.
