So glad I didn’t listen to mediocre reviews of machine! I got it for $2700usd so makes a huge difference for a 4090!! 13950hx version and no complaints on anything!! 240hz ghd 17 inch monster
Hi!! I have from 20 days ago this laptop. Thanks a the incredible BIOS of MSI, if you applied a Undervolt around -150mv in P cores and E cores, and -100mv in ring, the thermal throotling not exist, and for example in Cinebench R23 CAN GET 35.000- 36.200 points from 30.000 with stock values. Incredible. And the temps on RTX 4090 are very Good in this device, you can get an excelent OC ( +250mhz in Core and +1000 mhz on memory speed.
With all, everything it's stable.
My Laptop don't have this whinecool noise. Nothing, when I choose Between Asus Scar 18 and my MSI GE78, the Asus has bad temps and a loud electric noise, the BIOS can't change more than a little UVolt and a feew skills.
This Laptop with a Good configs its a most power Laptop on the Market!
@@FGG80187 Not, my laptop don´t have Backlight, nothinng. My "Old" Msi GE76 Raider 10Uh 63 with 1080P 300Hz has a lot of Backlight, this panel not it´s perfect, the contrast ratio is better on Asus Scar, but is better than in that review can you see.
@@FGG80187 Mine has absolutely terrible backlight bleed. But otherwise I think the display is alright.
@@zenckers1981 Greetings)) I’m very happy for you)) I bought one like this, but because of the light on the display, I returned three laptops to the store) I’m waiting for the fourth one) tell me how specifically the undervolt was done and what temperatures you have in AAA games in performance mode) this is their disease - overheating
@@noutbuker Thanks a lot! Yes, for me this Laptop (GE78 HX 13V) was my choose, and my last Laptop was a GE76 10-63 and in 2018 was a GE72 Dominator pro Tobbi. I love this Brand always for the same, the huge BIOS Options, good customer service (At least here, in Spain)
First, install the last BIOS Version, xx09, change the regular thermal Paste for Liquid Metal Grizlly (I don´t know, but it´s the Best vs Coolaboratory or the new from cooler master, i tried at the different thermal metal liquid solutions and Grizzly it´s so far in stability, the others in 5 or 6 moths you will need change).
On BIOS, I have -120mv on P-Cores, -110mv o E-Cores and -65mv on "Ring". With this config, yesterday here in Sevilla, with 27,5º in mi room, 36.670 Points on Cinebench R23, in 10 minutes test 34.400P, and except 2 cores in coretemp that reach 91º, the rest of cores were arounnd 78-86º. The Grizzly Metal liquid its neccesary.
On TimeSpy Cpu core i have 19.200-19-400), Graphics score on 23.500P (GPU: CPU +240mhz and 1.000mhz on Vram Memory, is very mnore important increase Mhz on GPU than in Memory, and is better 10mhz on CPU than 600mhz on Vram, if you increase more the Vram you Will have reduce the extra Mhz on Core.
With all of this, the GPU never reach more than 64-65 degrees an the CPU ae arounnd 75º-80º Max and never have a Thermal Trootling.
I'm always a fan of msi brand ,they made really solid product but this year msi went so wrong by choosing 17 inch instead of 17.3 inch,, gaming at 16:10 are cool don't get me wrong but all games support 16:9 , if they went to 16:10 then give us a choice for 18 inch .
Btw that grill in the back is very useful for battery heat dissipation it definitely helps thd overall cooling design msi has #1 best cooling for laptops out of every other brand they have the most heatpipes from any other notebook manufacturer
Is the keyboard cover the same as in the GE-75 series? My keys W/S are partially worn out and look terrible.
Awesome review!
If not this laptop than which one? Razer blade 16 for $3599 ? What do you recommend for top or near top gaming performance?
SO, coil whine is not ASUS ROG exclusive??? I gave up on SCAR and moved to MSI... and then this review got me!!!
Hey dude, also chosing between scar and ge78, gig you notice any whining on your new MSI?
And is it missing g-sync/freesync?
What do you recommend for budget up to 2500e for gaming/ unity development?
Is the screen 8bit or 10bit ?
How bad was the thermal throttling? Can it be ignored?
I have this unit for 3 months now an can confirm there is NO thermal throttling
Is it good? Or does it suck?
The main problem according to this video is that it losese performance when it gets hot. And that's a big problem.
What is the time response of screen 1ms or 3ms
You can get the 4K version.
Are you sure about these results?? My scar 18 4080 can achieve more fps
MSI always baffles me. They cheapen on parts while simultaneously charge a premium or more than the competition.
They're only a consideration when they eventually lower their prices but then it's better to save for the newer models from other OEMs like Asus.
Guys I’m going to buy this
I just love my Msi Raider GE78 HX 13V RTX 4080/32 gigs of 5600mhz ram. I'm seriously impressed by the sound and display this thing has. Runs cool and fairly quiet except when heavy gaming. I'm on my third day using this and tweaking software settings for better faster performance. No regrets especially when I got it on sale.
@@akiphalos The Temps are great. I also use a cooling pad. Display isn't bad at all. Has more vertical height for web pages and is bright and crisp.
Actually it doesn't have 64gb of 5600mhz ram. Well, the ram is 5600mhz sticks, but the 13980hx is only compatible with 5600mhz ram below 64gb. Anything 64gb or higher and your ram only runs at 4800mhz. That's why I'm only running 32gb until the 24gb sticks of 5600mhz sodimm drop so I can run 48gb, which is plenty enough, and have the full 5600mhz speed.
Yeah that laptop blows dude. I had to send mine back. Keyboard got so hot it was burning my hands, software was all over the place and that display, whilst vibrant and bright, had the worst backlight bleed I've ever seen on a laptop, nevermind premium laptops.
Swapped it for the Lenovo 7 pro, much cooler, much better clockspeeds, and a more acceptable screen though I'd rather it be MiniLED. Seems all the manufacturers cheaped out this year.
Jy kan daai een maar vir my GEE. Dankie. 💪
От такого английского аж уши режет
boiling hot keyboard, noisy fans and a shitty screen, MSI laptops life story.
@Johnithinuioian You shouldn't need to do all that, if you need all of those things for the MSI laptop to be 'fixed' just get a desktop. I was looking to get this laptop but after seeing a few reviews saying how hot it gets and how quickly, I think i'll skip it and wait to see what other OEMs put out this year.
People complaining about no Gsync but why would you need it when it only helps when you have low fps.this laptop didn’t need the Gsync in this case it’s fps is never going to be that low.
Exactly if they care enough about it buy a pc
On a low refresh monitor you will still get tearing with high fps . It s because the screen is 160hz that gsync is not à big deal. Even though at 160 tearing is still visible
Have you ever played 60 fps locked games like Elden Ring kid
