How about putting it in a pot? Both of mine are in pots. Also, a fabric pot might do the trick! Also, possibly modifying your soil mix with a higher level of perlite or sand for drainage?
@@afig3539 sandy well drained soil is all we have except some pockets of clay here and there. I might try it but I don’t expect it to be a good one even when it is not raining here the humidity is above 50% in the summer. Big open eye is a bust.
I planted this in ground back in May near Portland Oregon. This is in the top 10 for in ground in PNW.
