So does this spanner only go one direction? Just bought a vt1100c noticed one side is on the second setting & the other is one passed 5. Wont let me turn counter clock wise to even it up. Weird
@AnxietyWizard ended up turning it still clockwise until it shot from 5 to 1. It wouldn't budge the other way. Now both sides read #2 but they look off with how much of the arrow shows on each side.
I have my stock rear suspension set to "3". I did try it at the default "2", 3, and 4, and find that 2 suits me fine, but some roads are bad enough that I have set the preload to 3. On that setting, the bike may feel stiff without a pillion, but suits curvy roads better. With a pillion, the ride is softer, and does not bottom out. So that is the setting I keep it now, it is feeling great. How your shocks are set up could depend on a lot, but try out the next setting up, and see if it is too stiff. I think this is the first time I started leaving a comment on the topic without seeing the video... hehe I think I will leave another comment after the premiere. Take care Spencer, ride safe.
Thanks mate! I have my bike set on 5 right now but depending on how that feels might back it off to 4. When I got to them, one side was on 3 and the other was on 4 🤦♂️ Carrying Mrs and luggage so wanted to err on the side of caution but will see how it feels with her on there.
@@AnxietyWizard The crazy part is I do not have a spanner wrench to adjust the shocks, so I have been adjusting them by hand. When I adjusted them from 4 to 3, it was a bit tougher, but I managed using elbow grease and sweat.
Can't wait to see the videos of your and Jude's journey - will be utterly fantastic for you both. I so wish I could be there, but have to be in Adelaide at the time unfortunately. I set my rear shocks to 4 for pillion and luggage - though it uses a different system than yours, perhaps mine has been changed or it's from being a different model. Happy enough with it that I leave it on 4 now. Will be curious what you reckon the difference is like now. Happy travels!
I actually dialed it back to 4 today; when I got to my shocks one was at 4 and the other at 3 🤦♂️ if we bottom out I'll adjust them firmer but hope the even adjustment will assist.
How do you like your suspension when carrying a pillion and luggage?
I will adjust my rear too when I get the bike back. Can't wait. Hopefully Thursday.
Looking forward to you getting it back mate!
Part of the journey is figuring out how to set your bike up for you. Well done, mate.
Thanks Uncle Kraken! 🙏
Where do I get the special tool?
Mine came with the bike tool kit, hidden under the left side panel.

Mine definitely went two directions- maybe you have a stuck shock mate? 🤔

Dang! Sounds like you might need to get a shop look at them to be sure
Good one, Wiz. 2,000k round trip...rippa! mate. You'll have a great time. Ride well, both of your. Cheers
Thanks Moz! Our biggest trip yet. Looking forward to it.
Looking forward to the trip videos mate. Hopefully your adjustment helps out for the trip. 😎🤞🏻
Cheers big fella!

@PaulsMotoZen bloody hell you're tough as nails mate, good effort! 💪
@@AnxietyWizard Tough as nails? I do not know about that, but I do have a tendency to over tighten things.

I can't wait to catch up with you either mate, so looking forward to it!
Very nice (how to) video mate.
Looking forward to meeting you in person at the meetup.
So looking forward to meeting you mate!
What kind of windshield do you have installed?
Not sure as it came installed on the bike when I bought it!
Dang! It looks nice. Trying to find quick release windshield options for mine.
