Nicely played Oregon, nice play.
I feel like a few specific moments were even call-backs to Ghibli films, for example the final scene of the girl laying on her back looking up at the clouds with flowers waving in the foreground reminded me immediately of the beginning scenes from Kiki's Delivery Service.
Sir William V yes!!! the golden fish things in the comet reminded me of ponyo. and the old man in the cloud reminded me of kamaji from spirited away
@@KyleSmileIsle I got a ton of Arrietty vibes.
you thought it was Ghibli because the hack animators ripped characters and scenes frame for frame from Ghibli movies. It's not "call-backs" it's straight up plagiarism. Using someone else's art for profit... shocking people can get away with this stuff.

The more ya know.
So that EXPLAINS Gravity Falls...
Pack your gear boys! We're going to Oregon. That's where the anime is!
A question to Oregonians: How much of this is actually exaggerated?
Not much tbh, they used alot of recognizable features of oregon, many of those spots you could actually visit, the exaggeration is mostly just the magical creatures and they made the atmosphere much more fantastical. Like the rolling fields sure look cool in this video but in reality they are more of a passing thing while getting to other cities.
Depends on what drugs you have access too.
All the teenage minorities running around having wholesome adventures.
well they removed the homeless or maybe this is what they see on all that meth they decriminalized
Bait fishing in summer is illegal. Creeks like in the opening scene are usually either too fast and dangerous to swim in, or are too shallow to swim.
It's not usually sunny unless you're visiting at mid June through mid August. The tulips won't be blooming around then, whales come in winter I think. You'll be able to see the dragon boat races... I'm pretty sure that's in summer, but I don't think you can go in one for the same reason you can't join a bobsled race- it takes skills to operate a dragon boat.
The ocean is really cold year-round if you want to go swimming at the beach, go elsewhere. But there are some awesome tide pools you can see at low tide.
They forgot to mention Eastern Oregon. There's some good camping over there. Beautiful landscapes, beautiful thunderstorms, and the Oregon trail is historically interesting.
Giant bunnies, flying whales, giant caterpillars, and weird mechanical clouds are fantasy though. And honestly, so is the idea that there's a large diversityof skin colors here and no homeless folks or drug-addicts.
I predict that this will blow up in the near future, I would love to see a fictional documentary series about this fantastical land.
That exists: Portlandia
In this style it would be perfect I’d buy that hell I’d by the special edition and anniversary releases hahaha
Laika, are you listening?
The cartoon Gravity Falls already takes place in Oregon so you've kinda got what ya want already, but I'd love to see this be adapted into a series too honestly
"You know what Oregon? We get it. You live in a cartoon."

Well technically 90% of Oregon is on drugs, and the other 30% are hardcore anime hipsters so...this may theoretically be what most of them actually see.
But at least 120% of us can do math!

Good one
This and the other ad has dozens of Studio Ghibli references so I am assuming they created these wonderful ads for Oregon
if you look at the description on the video you will see that its not animated by studio ghibli
It looks really good but the animation isn't nearly on the same level when compared to ghibli.
Nothing
Actually it's animated very well. Ghibli has a lot of animators, and their style varies significantly between directors. This one was done particularly in Miyazaki's style, and i think it's a fantastic take on it. The animation is smooth, backgrounds are detailed, people in the background are all moving separately and are cleanly drawn and animated, no CGI seems to have been used, etc.
Which areas in particular do you think pale in comparison to Ghibli?
@@BothHands1 I agree with you that it's extremely well done. It's just when you compare it to things like ghibli which they clearly draw inspiration from do i notice differences in level of craft. I do think the painted backgrounds are relatively similar in level of quality though. Aside from the not-as-appealing designs of the fictional creatures (imo), my pet peeve would be when the frame rate of the foreground animation is too far from the frame rate of the background and creates an awkward disconnect, which is especially apparent in the shots with the grapes at 0:34 and the birds at 1:05. It's probably a really minor nitpick caused by the fact that it's composited digitally but still something you would never see in a miyazaki movie.
this isnt anywhere near the same level of a ghibli film, and the style is so different. I can get the inspiration I guess but this doesn’t look ghibli at all
Where is the exaggeration? Oregon looks exactly like that =D

Never thought of Oregon as any place interesting.
This has changed my mind.
Spoiler: it isn't, and the video has absolutely nothing to do with it. Which is the best part. Oregon has such a lack of shit to do - and i mean just absolutely fuck all, that they needed to make false impressions through an animated film to get people even halfway interested in visiting. Hilarious.
It's so sad to watch. They've always desperately clamored for an identity, being sandwiched between CA and WA. Especially Portland; there's this strange wannabe-Seattle vibe in the air that's so thick and heavy with all the people and happenings there.
@Thurnis Haley
As a Portland native, you’re absolutely wrong. Portland is a trendsetter city. Numerous cities have COPIED us throughout the years whether it’s our public transit, food scene, fashion, or lingo.
Other cities do have more to do-that’s true-and I used to complain about the climate there while growing up. But after traveling and being away for so long, I realized the PNW is truly a special place. I miss it.
This video is pretty accurate in terms of Oregon’s landscape. We have beautiful scenery.
@@DialloMoore503 Okay so why don't you list some examples of who copied exactly what directly from Portland instead of claiming "it happened just go look"? I'll gladly wait, I suspect I'll be here for a while

That’s just to name a few. Many local businesses started in Portland and expanded to other cities.
Nothing against Seattle (they have a booming tech industry), but we’re not trying to be like them.
@@DialloMoore503 You are seriously joking if you think goddamn _beer, coffee, and donuts_ originated from or were first capitalized by Portland. That's a pretty big claim to stake; to say that there were _no_ popular coffee/beer/donut makers anywhere before Portland's founding, let alone population boom. I could see you maybe getting away with food trucks, if there wasn't more evidence pointing towards LA or NY instead.
I missed the part where Portland was on fire.......
I've been to Oregon and this is pretty accurate - not sure which parts they say are slightly exaggerated.
