Hi Gjeebs you should compare the 2023 Ford to 2023 Model Y. The new-ish interior refresh, double pane insulated front windows, comfort suspension, Ryzen processor, hardware 4 cameras, and overall improvements are pretty huge and worth considering when comparing the two since Ford had 3 more years to improve versus Tesla in this comparison.
....and I really recommend compare Tesla Vision (Tesla lost radar and parking sensors) to standard solution of Ford with radar and parking sensors :-) 1. Autopilot during bad weather and night with speed 130 km/h 2. Auto-parking in underground garage when many other cars are beside 3. Automatic wipes during night and rain... 4. Automatic switching off of high beams at night on no-motorway road..
I find the the Mach-e door opening is easier than the Tesla. Just press the button and then grab the handle. No need to place hand awkwardly on the handle and then press the button.
For the amount of driving, a Bolt EUV would have been perfect for me. I was also considering the Mach-E. But dealerships... markups and mandatory accessories... nothing made sense. They pretty much forced me to buy my model Y.
@@austinpowers1999 I like it. However, I do feel like Tesla is a bit overhyped. It's like everyone says - the tech is awesome. Biggest drawback for me is the battery estimate. It's worse than I imagined. Even though I got the long range model, I feel like if I really drive it I'll only get 200 miles out of a full charge.
My local Ford dealership is wonderful, they treat you like a human being, discuss any ins or outs and make sure you're happy. Professionals. "You have to do all these tricky finger combinations ..." Way over thinking that, Gjeebs. Pointer finger to press the button and the door will pop open. THEN pull the handle. It's thinking you have to pull the handle to start opening the door that's throwing you off. It's just a grip. You could just as easily reach inside the door sill, like you do with the back doors. The only reason the handle is there at all is it happens to be in an aerodynamic hole caused by the mirrors. We got our Mach-E because I specifically didn't want too much of the car exclusively driven by the screen, so that my wife would be comfortable using it. I will say that BlueCruise has been great. Hands free makes long drives very tolerable. And while it shouldn't be all that important, we love CarPlay and I think we'd be loathe to give it up. The app isn't great, but we pretty much don't use it. Other than it being electric, we pretty much just use it like a regular car. The app only gets used when we need to manually charge up to 100% before a trip, or if we want to remote start the car. I will say the buying process was absolutely the worst part of my Mach-E. 13 months from ordering it to finally having it. The dealer themselves wasn't too bad (I had it in my head it would be worse than it was, but mine didn't jerk me around at all), but it just took so damn long that I started looking seriously at the Kia EV-6. Interesting video, thanks! As a Mach-e (and potential Model Y) owner, I appreciate the comparison. I leave the air conditioner on, but there's no setting to tell others. Also, like the sentry mode you have.
I will be very interested to see what Tesla is going to charge Ford for each kWh compared to Tesla owners. The Model Y was a non-starter for the suspension rigidity a few years ago. Now I hear its better.
I am wondering the same thing. Very happy to be paying around $0.30 here in Southern California. I got my model y very recently, switched out 21’s to 19’s. Ride quality vastly improved. I’m super content
I’ve driven both the -pre and-post suspension change model Y’s. The -pre ones are indeed very firm. The suspension is too jittery and made my head bounce around on the headrest like a basketball. The -post ones are much improved and is fine for daily driving.
I have been amazed at what I can fit in the sub trunk space of the Model Y. I was showing it to my sister in law who is a soccer coach. We were able to fit 9 soccer balls in there! Additionally, all of her jerseys and cones fit in the frunk. Good to go without a single think visible through the windows!
I love my Y. We have a bunch of Y's and 3's in our community, but there is a neighbor who has 2 Mach E's. They are nice looking cars but he wishes he bought a Tesla.
Off subject, but I saw the most beautiful Model S yesterday. It looked brand new and was a silver color. I came up behind it at a stoplight in my Model Y. I thought my car was fast pulling away from a stoplight. That Model S hit it faster than any car I’ve ever seen and totally left me in the dust. Way cool!
Since the E Mustang costs considerably more than the Tesla Y, how about a comparison of the E Mustang and the Tesla Y with the Enhanced Auto Pilot. This would only be fair.
Drove them both. Yes the Tesla is a good EV. Drives good, new seats are good (12-way) and almost everything is standaard (Panoramic roof, tv screen for rear passengers, heat pump, ventilated seats). However, as a car I like the Mach-e more. Doorhandles much easier, screen behind the steeringwheel is perfect, physical knobs. The most idiotic idea of Tesla are the indicator buttons on the steeringwheel. Try to use is on roundabouts (we have a lot of them in the Netherlands). So yes, the Tesla is the better computer, te Ford is the better car in my opinion.
Tesla sells more Ys in two weeks than Ford sells Mach Es in six months. Better software, best EV for OTAs, more efficiency, better charging curve, NACS, no dealership BS and the list goes on. Will say the Mach E is nice looking but that's about it.
Ford dealerships have very little inventory of Mach Es. Where I am in Canada the wait for the least expensive Mach E trim is over a year. I can have a Tesla in less than a month. And remember, Ford sells a much wider range of car models, so you might want to compare total sales figures before you start sharing heavily biased stats.
@@astrobot3038unfortunately tesla is just crazy ahead. And the large refreshes are coming to the model 3 and Y this and next year respectively. I am happy that ford is adopting NACS. I think every brand that is doing that makes a world of difference going on a trip.
@@devinmurray5280 All these comparison videos wouldn't exist if Tesla was "crazy ahead". The gap should be bigger given that Tesla only makes EVs. Both have their pros and cons. The Mach E is an excellent EV that also looks good, and if I'm going to spend 60+ thousand dollars on a vehicle, it better look good.
@@astrobot3038 looks are somewhat subjective. I think the Mach E is pretty ugly. And looks are the only real advantage the vehicle has. Other than I’m sure it has better paint quality. All the core metrics of an EV, it’s mediocre at best. And it’s more expensive than a Tesla. They lose money on every Mach E while tesla has the highest margin in the auto industry. So yeah leaps ahead isn’t an understatement. The Mach E doesn’t even have a heat pump. Which Teslas heat pump system is a really cool 8 valve system that runs through the entire powertrain and battery. The Mach E has so so compartmentalization. Not the worst I’ve seen (like the last waste of space under the hood with many EVs). People make these comparisons because tesla is the benchmark. The thing that the vast majority of people are choosing when grabbing an EV.
@@devinmurray5280 A lot of people want a well built car that looks good and not just good software. If all people cared about was software, Ford wouldn’t be the top selling car brand in North America.
Ford vs Tesla? I own both cars; A 2023 Tesla Y Performance AND a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance; and I enjoy watching your videos… Also when you are telling others that Y is such a great car and above the Mach-E. Let me say this; you are full of it 😂 The Mach E is a better car. The Tesla Y is a more fun car. 🎉 Why buy a Tesla? Because the network of superchargers… alone. 👍 But if you charge at home? Buy a Mach-E 👍 And for the cruise control? Sorry to tell you; Ford cruise control is working way better that the Tesla. 😁 Keep the videos coming. I just did subscribe. But the Tesla is not THAT superior. Cheers 🍻
What's wrong with Tesla cruise control? They even have assisted and full self-driving capabilities. Maybe they will get it fixed with a software update.
I have problem to buy Tesla Y because of missing radar and parking sensors. Tesla Vision is not working acceptably during bad weather or darkness, the parking autopilot is horrible comparing e.g. with VW ID4. The LED lights are average, the automatic wipes and high beams are sometimes confused... So not all is excellent in Tesla Y :-) Living in mountains in the middle Europe I would choose the VW ID4 GTX :-)
there's no mistaking who the frontrunner is in this comparison. in any comparison. hands down Tesla wins. the legacy automakers need to take every bit of info they can from Tesla to improve their vehicles. I'm not sure why they haven't done more yet...
Seen many of these comparison videos. comes down with style, and maybe regular ICE car feeling on the Mach-E. Tech, range, price, warranty, storage all better on Model Y.
Please be careful with those Drift car fresheners! I used to use them and the metal clips damaged my sun visors material and the oils from the wood will stain like crazy....especially with those white seats! I loved the smells, although they use vanilla as a common ingredient in their different scents which I hate, its cost me some coin to replace my sun visor and hope I don't get charged for the stain on my seat when I turn the car back in at the end of the lease....fingers crossed
Coming from someone who works for Tesla and has driven 100’s of every model, but also owns a Mach E, I would never give my Mach E up for a Y. Tesla build quality is trash! Their basic warranty is even worse. The Tesla has a 4 year shelf life at most before you get hit with a multi thousand dollar repair.
I find the MME door handles are much easier than the Tesla, with either hand. I don’t understand your comment about “if you have to use your left hand”……. It’s super easy which ever hand you use…. Ok, your opinion and my opinion…..
Answer to the dumb title question: Model Y is the world’s best selling car right now. Model Y 2023 q1 sales in the US: over 260k units Mach E 2023 sales: 14k units Model y profit margin per car: +$9k Mach E profit margin: $-760 This is a tough question to answer!
Try comparing total sales figures across all models made by Ford and Tesla. Ford doesn’t rely on the sales of Mach E. If it did, it wouldn’t take over a year to get one where I live.
@@astrobot3038 that comparison would be irrelevant because the argument here is about BEVs. But, if you want to go there, here is more facts. Pretty much all of the legacy manufactures have to subsidise the abysmal profit losses of their bevs with their ice sales in order to be competitive with tesla and BYD in the fast approaching fully electric future and not go bankrupt again. In the matter of fact ford, gm and Chrysler probably would be out of business right now if not for yours and mine tax payer bailout (aka government loan) in 2009 which ford still hasn’t repaid ($6 billion) to date. In addition, ford just secured another $9 billion of taxpayers money (aka government loan/bailout) specifically for its bevs because subsidisation with their ice cars is leading them to where they were in 2009, the point of bankruptcy. Also, if tesla didn’t open it’s chargers in North America to all of the legacy manufacturers, their situation would be even more dire even with government bailout. Tesla at the moment is in the best electric automotive future-proof position by a mile with own vehicles, charging infrastructure, technology, software and soon mineral mining. The only real competition Tesla has at the moment is form BYD.
@@astrobot3038 I don’t care about who sells more. I buy cars that i like wether it’s tesla or ford, or gm, or Audi, or Kia. I just state facts. Facts speak for themselves. You’ve got no facts or brain capacity to support your statements, which butthurts. So, keep your projection of butthurt to yourself. I’m not going to respond to you again because like Mark Twain said “never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience”. You seem to have a lot of that type of experience.
why does profit margin matter for the consumer. If anything that says Tesla cheaped out, and you the consumer are paying the same price so they can have a better stock price
Finally, Tesla's autopilot killed 17 americans while using that mode! No thank you. Dont want to die in a Tesla of all things. Mach-E GT software issues are disturbing. All these cars tech is becoming better as time goes on and they can do over the air updates. I'd rather have a slow interface than failing and deadly autopilot. Fords Blue Cruise is impeccable and safe trying to make sure the drive actually pays attention while hands free. Family friend sold off their Tesla because of bumpy highway driving.
Is the model y much nicer than the model 3? My wife and I have a Mach E and and model 3. And we both prefer the Mach E. However the buying experience was the best ever with the Tesla, and the worst ever with the Mach E
yeah your right Tesla is way ahead when it comes to tech.. here in Australia we have Tesla and there doing very well but we don't yet have the Mustang mach e.. great vid ..
Tesla hands down the Winner.. its what you cant see that makes Tesla the winner.. Their battery packs and battery ecosystem along with the motors and drive train.. And the software of Tesla is light years ahead of Ford.. Don't make the mistake and buy the inferior Ford, IMHO....
Drain hole? In the frunk ? Ice bath cooler ? Will melt fast in the summer? If you forget to drain could cause more issue .. water by vital ev motor? Is this good idea ? 😂
I just got mach-e for my wife. I have to say I like both cars. I live Fremont CA, the Tesla capital of the world. I love a lot of what the Tesla offers, but my wife ended up liking the mach-e. my wife it a little thing, weighs less than 100lbs. with small hands. The mach-e door is way easier. You press the button and the door pops out, then you pull on the visible handle. With the over stock in mach-e at the dealer, the prices are way down. Next year the mach-es can start using the better charging network. I still give the edge to the model Y, but the mach-e has somethings that may swing some drivers over its side.
@@troutnut01 very likely, but my wife did not like the feel of the Tesla model Y. She kept her old car for 15 years. hoping for 8-10 year with the mach-e. crossing fingers.
And in car entertainment like Netflix, Hulu, games with the Tesla. Other than someone having a ridiculous anti-Elon hate, people would be an absolute fool to take the mache over the Tesla.
I notice you didn't talk about looks. Mach-E look a million times better, or service tesla is horrible. You only talk about things teslas can compete in. Oh and everyone will ask you if you are their Uber ride lol. got rid of my two model 3s after being asked if i was an uber at a restaurant.
Awesome, thorough, and pretty fair comparison. Agreed on most points... especially the software, Tesla just lightyears ahead, both car and app... and, Ford is one of the better ones, among OEM carmakers! (Rivian is a close 2nd behind Tesla, they copied LOTS of stuff incl Gearguard for Sentry cam, etc... but, might as well copy the leader!) The Ford car UI is just... WAY to many confusion screens, submenus, popups, little subwindows, etc... multiple presses to get back to Map mode... and, yes, laggy. BlueCruise is nice but at least the older version, tends to disengage silently and randomly, scary. VERY confusing setting up home and other charging; location-specific setup needed controlling schedule, charge limits, etc.. why?! Just plug in and charge to what you want..?! (oh, and way too slow fast-charge curve... ouch.) OTA updates are VERY few and far between. Tesla UI is... just fantastic. No lag, great features, simple consistent UI approach with just one main "car" menu w/ one level of submenus (kind of like Windows Start menu), app tray at bottom, very few popups (and NONE fully hide the screen, and simple swipe down to hide); importantly, map screen ALWAYS on display with FULL map features (not just a minimal set of road lines, but full roads and POIs, satellite color photo mode, etc)... just years ahead. No comparison. Android Auto and Apple Carplay are toys in comparison; ONLY benefit they have, is direct screen access to more phone apps (waze?, music)... but the phone maps stink in comparison. Hope Ford can significantly improve their software, both in-car and app. Too confusing and slow. Meanwhile, Tesla is constantly improving, I get OTA updates every few weeks even on 5yr old car... feels & drives like a new car, joy every time. Few annoyance, all joy.
You've tried a few roof glass shields for the Model Y, right? I am in Las Vegas and recently visited Phoenix and Sedona (beautiful). Is this sun shield your favorite so far? P.S. Ordered with your link.
Teslas look like they were designed by typing "generic looking electric car" into an AI image generator. There are so many of them on the roads where I live that I sometimes feel like I'm in an episode of The Twilight Zone.
They are designed to be as aerodynamic as possible to they can be more efficient and because of that they lack what most would consider as a beautiful car but considering that I think they look good
They FORCED your buddy to buy the dealership tint, they didn't force your buddy your buddy is SOFT, you as a customer demand what you want we have choices , we just purchased our Mach E xtended drive without any hassle, if your not SOFT like your friend then we run the dealership show not the salesman, remember we are the ones with the MONEY not the salesman, the nonsense example you gave for the Mach door handles totally garbage, hands full or not it's definitely easier than the tesla, have both hands full and see which is actually easier, the tailgate same scenario, you wave your foot across the bottom of the Mach E tailgate and it opens up tesla don't do that, thanks for taking the time to record a few valid points but definitely some non sense items picked out in your video.
too bad tesla have those sketchy frameless doors, were scared on wintertimes with my model s when the windows wouldnt go down those inches needed because of frozen windows to get the door up + the hard`ish rubber that the window could touch aswell when opening
@Gjeebs: How do I give access to someone else access to my car? I emailed them an iinvite but it still required them to use a physical key to link the car
How does a dealership force you to purchase their te tint I would walk out and go to a different dealership, but who the hell would buy an Audi anyway maintenance nightmare
Sorry, Dude. My e-tron is just fine. I pay the dealership annually for a 10,000 mile service. About $600. Have not had any maintenance issues yet. (Other than a Takada airbag recall). I rented from Hertz a model 3. It was nice, but didn’t measure up in amenities and ride comfort. You can’t open the moonroof, no ventilated seats, & no AM radio. The ride seemed less refined, and the interior noise was worse compared to my Ford Fusion Energi PHEV. And the economy was similar. 4.08 miles per kWh with the Model 3, 4.18 miles per kWh in the Ford in EV mode on the same exact route. So, yes, Tesla wins the software battle, but loses on the ride comfort. I’m not buying software, I’m buying a ride. For me, Tesla is out there on the horizon, but, it’s still too far out of a car to buy for a senior like me at this time.
The mach e looks so much better than the tesla. The tesla wins in every category other than looks. I wish tesla would upgrade to a more modern car style, it's out dated.
Although the exterior looks way more cool on the Ford Mustang (which, IMO, has always been a sexy looking vehicle every since I my first fantasy with Steve McQueen in BULLITT), we still love our 2018 Tesla Model X. With our planet Earth heating up more now than in the last 125,000 years, we need to think differently or at least outside the box. With that said, nothing compares to "Keep", "Camp" and "Dog" Modes in the Tesla. Nothing beats the Tesla in its technology and software upgrades!
Try the trade in experience at a Tesla service center and compare that to your local Ford dealer. For the dealer, you don't even have to go online, just drop by. They often have stock right there! Yeah, you pay a little for service and you get service. Tesla too, somewhat, far away. But Ford dealers are there for the long haul and appreciate the relationship.
Door opening? How about just pressing the button, then pull the door? No need for finger gymnastics, three fingers then press the button at the same time :P Weird. Press button, pull door. Easy.

Thank you for your insight.
One thing I noticed that wasn’t mentioned around 2:15 was the sound the door makes when being shut. The front door tesla sounds loose with rattles.
Bit confused why you got in the car to open chargeport? You can just push it..
Cheers 🍻
Yes; I guess you get what you paying for; the Ford did cost 75’ and the Tesla did cost 60’ - (both with two set of wheels)
Comfort, Quality and looks? Ford 😇
thank you for your honest, helpful opinion. 👍🏽
What's wrong with Tesla cruise control? They even have assisted and full self-driving capabilities. Maybe they will get it fixed with a software update.
I like your reply. The price on both dropped at least 15 k. Tesla are ugly to me unless you by the Tesla s
Watched a few of your reviews. Best reviewer out there. Great job balancing comedy and content.
thanks man I appreciate it
there's no mistaking who the frontrunner is in this comparison. in any comparison. hands down Tesla wins. the legacy automakers need to take every bit of info they can from Tesla to improve their vehicles. I'm not sure why they haven't done more yet...
Thumb up.
But for the love of God, please use commas sometimes.
Drain plug, people will wind up driving with ice and as a result a lot of water sloshing around. Not really okay.
Sandy Munro says the Mach E is a mess and will leak like crazy when the hoses age as there are miles of unecessary coolant hoses.
Open Butthole is the only correct way to open the charge port

As someone in Arizona as well, how does the AC on the Tesla compare to the ford?
Awesome comparison and thanks for the sunshade link. Gonna get one. BTW: Tesla also has bio-hazard defense mode 😀
Nothing was "Forced", your friend could have left the dealership.
Newest Y has better heat protection on the roof. Better tip is to get UV clear tint on the front windshield.
Seen many of these comparison videos. comes down with style, and maybe regular ICE car feeling on the Mach-E. Tech, range, price, warranty, storage all better on Model Y.
Im just casually listening at work and all I hear is "open butthole" 😂
Please be careful with those Drift car fresheners! I used to use them and the metal clips damaged my sun visors material and the oils from the wood will stain like crazy....especially with those white seats! I loved the smells, although they use vanilla as a common ingredient in their different scents which I hate, its cost me some coin to replace my sun visor and hope I don't get charged for the stain on my seat when I turn the car back in at the end of the lease....fingers crossed
Don't use "car fresheners". If you keep the interior clean, the natural smell is better.
Got my MYLR 3 weeks ago and didn't know you could move the blind spot screen lol
I was listening to this in the background and spaced off for a second and nearly gave myself whiplash when I heard "Open Butthole."
Wow! Mandatory accessories? These people are crazy
Your wife nailed it at 2:13. I don't think any further comment is necessary. :). You are my ambassador of quan.
I find the MME door handles are much easier than the Tesla, with either hand. I don’t understand your comment about “if you have to use your left hand”……. It’s super easy which ever hand you use…. Ok, your opinion and my opinion…..
10:06 bro caught me off guard
I had to pay $2,600 for interior protector on a sorrento. Im so annoyed with dealers. Got a m3lr after that.
If you're disappointed with screen lag in this 60k car then prepare yourself for a 150k Mercedes
Answer to the dumb title question: Model Y is the world’s best selling car right now.
Model Y 2023 q1 sales in the US: over 260k units
Mach E 2023 sales: 14k units
Model y profit margin per car: +$9k
Mach E profit margin: $-760
This is a tough question to answer!
@@nkoster3717 tldr: You’re butthurt over Ford selling way more cars than Tesla. Justify it however you want.
I’m not going to respond to you again because like Mark Twain said “never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience”. why does profit margin matter for the consumer.
The non extended version is at 42500 euros in France. How does it compare with Tesla model y ?
Is the model y much nicer than the model 3? My wife and I have a Mach E and and model 3. And we both prefer the Mach E. However the buying experience was the best ever with the Tesla, and the worst ever with the Mach E
The exterior and interior design looks much better in the Mach E. The Tesla is way ahead in its software integration
yeah your right Tesla is way ahead when it comes to tech.. here in Australia we have Tesla and there doing very well but we don't yet have the Mustang mach e.. great vid ..
For the Mach e door you literally just push the button then you use the handle
I think you will find the resale value on the Ford will be far lower than the Tesla also. Ford-5
@@troutnut01 very likely, but my wife did not like the feel of the Tesla model Y. She kept her old car for 15 years. hoping for 8-10 year with the mach-e. crossing fingers.
Many people aren't looking for tech, performance, for pure comfort can see different choices.
And in car entertainment like Netflix, Hulu, games with the Tesla. Other than someone having a ridiculous anti-Elon hate, people would be an absolute fool to take the mache over the Tesla.
I would pay $1K dollars extra to not have to buy through an opportunistic dealership. Tesla wins
You pay up to $10k fewer dollars to buy direct w/ Tesla, vs stealership markups!
I notice you didn't talk about looks. Mach-E look a million times better, or service tesla is horrible. You only talk about things teslas can compete in. Oh and everyone will ask you if you are their Uber ride lol. got rid of my two model 3s after being asked if i was an uber at a restaurant.
Likely didn’t know you can open the Tesla charging port by touching it.
with all we know of elon musk and his evil intents, how can anyone in good conscience drive a tesla?
He’s literally the worst.
Awesome, thorough, and pretty fair comparison. Agreed on most points... especially the software, Tesla just lightyears ahead, both car and app... and, Ford is one of the better ones, among OEM carmakers! (Rivian is a close 2nd behind Tesla, they copied LOTS of stuff incl Gearguard for Sentry cam, etc... but, might as well copy the leader!)
The Ford car UI is just...
They are designed to be as aerodynamic as possible to they can be more efficient and because of that they lack what most would consider as a beautiful car but considering that I think they look good
Model 3 has a .219 drag coefficient. The Ford is around .3. Substance over style.
@@FriedChairs When spending ~$50,000 on a vehicle, style matters.

How does a dealership force you to purchase their te tint I would walk out and go to a different dealership, but who the hell would buy an Audi anyway maintenance nightmare
My neighbor did 😂 but if I was him I wouldn’t get a Audi definitely model y or other EV.

Imagine paying $100,000 for a car that doesn’t look cool.
