These look like hash browns. When my mom made them she would hand grate 5# of potatoes! Using the finest side of her hand held grater. Talk about loving your family!!!
Those Potato Pancakes look so good! I love these, but have only made them with left over Mashed Potatos. Thanks Amy and Eric.
Potatoes…my favorite vegetable 😊
I cut my chives the same way. I live in Nebraska and have noticed the chives are nice and green. They have survived several winters.
I used to make them for my dad all the time he loved them . He will be in heaven for 8 years soon and I haven’t had them since .
Watching you make these is bringing back childhood memories of my german mother making them for us for breakfast🥰😍 After watching your video, I'm going to make them for my family tomorrow morning... and the applesauce is exactly how we ate them🤤🤩 Love from Ontario Canada
I remember As a child my father hand grating the potatoes to make the potato latkas For passover we use potatoes matzo meal and onion and egg. All done by hand back in the 1960s
You always make me hungry 😊gotta try these!
Hi Amy & Eric!!! I make something like these but use a hand grater and fine grate my potatoes and onions. In my Hometown in Pennsylvania we call them " Balanies". They also sold them in the summer at all our Bazars. So...delicious. I just made them 2 weeks ago. My arm really hurt from grading. I was thinking of using my Processor but not shred them. I mite try your way one day. I never have. I like mine crispy so I can pick it up and eat with covered in Sour Cream , S& P. They are delicious !!! They are one of my favorite meals. I eat them with Tomato Soup with Macaroni noodles in it. Sometimes I don't cook them all the way so I can fry them up for another day or freeze them. Your making me hungry for these!!!They would be easier your way for sure but the texture would not be the same but OK I would think.I do not put Applesauce on mine , people spread the Applesauce on them like you did the Sour Cream on Erics......This brought back good memories of my Hometown!!!... Great Video!!!...🦋
Nice potato frying background music 🎹🎶🎵🎹
Thanks!
Hi Amy,
These are Latkes. They are served at Hanukkah with apple sauce.
Potato pancakes are like you mentioned, made with mashed potatoes.
Those would be good with some sausage gravy on top for breakfast
Great video Amy. You always make me hungry !
Make the pancakes smaller and thinner, you want them crispy all over. My recipe : Shred a few raw potatoes, add an onion or two, shredded or chopped, 1 or 2 beaten eggs, pepper , salt, maybe chopped parsley. Very simple and fast.
With Cheddar 😊
Now that would be good!
Amy you said the recipe called for 1 pound of potatoes and 2 tablespoons of flour but you did 2 pounds of potatoes and 2 tablespoons of flour maybe since you doubled the potatoes maybe you should have doubled the flour as well? I don't know it's just an idea love this video it definitely gets a thumbs up from me
Hi Joann! The original recipe is only 1 tablespoon. So I doubled it to 2. It ended up turning out really good! It was actually in the end the right amount lol! Thanks for watching!
@@AmyLearnsToCook oh okay thank you for letting me know I confuse myself all the time. Loved the video I will be making this
They look delicious! I like to make mine more like Irish potato pancakes (Boxty) with mashed potatoes and shredded and no egg.
And yes, my husband who is half German grew up eating potato pancakes with applesauce. The applesauce is used to cut the oil of the pancakes.
I once tried to make this with left over mashed potatoes. It was good lol but I usedd to much at first which made it rlly gooey on the inside and burnt on the outside. The smaller ones were good though
Ive tried to make potato pancakes one time. Something went horribly wrong.
Me too, I just can't get it right, yet. Good luck!
@@asenseofwander Mine turned into mashed potatoes.
It’s Jewish called Latkes & served at Hanukkah.
Great music for this episode!
Thanks!! I really appreciate it!
