I knew when you said weldable primer there was gonna be porosity. Have to burn really hot and have a wire that has deoxidizing characteristics. Good Video doing mine this weekend.
Thank god u did this video , I was struggling figuring this out a bit. The breaker bar is a mint idea. Granted I bought the bmr pieces and steeda uppers but same principle, I ain't welding mine in.
I ripped mine at the track with a pretty much stock explorer engine and a f cam. It did have solid bushings though. Even worse with no reinforcement. Deffinetly need torque box reinforcements.
It's always good to see you Mike. I follow you on IG and was excited to watch your next video. Thank you again for your detailed videos. Did you see that Tony (junk yard dog) gave you a shout out for your 3g alternator video. Totally awesome!
Man did he? I know he did a while back, maybe over a year ago. Not sure how recent that was. Still cool though. Dig his vids as well, Im a fan of all the fox guys on here lol
Looks good. I'd recommend por15 paint over all that cause it last. My torque boxes were trashed from years of street drifting. Ended up doing the wild rides torque box replacements. Almost 500 spot welds to get the stock upper and lowers out. Take care!
Seems like you could just out some Polly's in there. The arms seemed to be pretty solid. It looks like it was just the bushings that gave. Young Ladd. Glad to see you back, I was getting kinda worried.
Thank you. Just busy with work, life, kids...The arms are solid, just dont have much twist to articulate. These we're poly bushing but I think I trashed them using regular petro based grease and not silicon.
Yo, Mike! FYI: A box of X-large wee-wee pads does wonders for catching drippy car messes. Plastic lined to protect the floor and amazing how much liquid they catch or soak up from spills! Just fold it up and throw it away and super cheap.
I am going to install my reinforcements in with gray seam sealer. Once the sealer dries up it should form a strong structural bond to the body. It will add strength and keep moisture out.
@@brucebell7623 you bolt down the reinforcements wet with sealer. When the sealer dries those reinforcements won't come out without a fight....no welding reguired, they are permanently glued and bolted down in place.
I am only subscribed to BREW2L. Until i saw this entire video! Beautiful car! Awesome fucking content! Ur work ethic is like mine. I cant wait to see more! I have a 87 LX Hatch and going stroker + ON3... 🍺🍺🍺👍👍👍
Dude you have inspired me to do the torque boxes on my fox. I am not sure of you realized. But I think you put the dri er side upper torque box on the passenger side. Maybe it doesn't matter but just curious to see if you ever noticed that.
Sorry Dula but articulation is what wrecked your bushings and your floor. This is not a problem with stock arms because the bushings are so big and soft but they are plagued with wheelhop problems. The only solution, especially after reinforcing is a set of bushing that also allow for twist. Maximum Motorsports is one company that recognizes the problem.
Your good man. I agree. HP didnt help it though. I know they we're fine until I took it to the track and the dyno finished it off. The new set im putting on it heimed at the upper axle and poly on the rest of the ends, to allow for movement on the uppers. MM recommends using stock uppers stamped steel and their lowers for this reason...your right. I went into articulation and using stiff poly on all 8 ends but had to cut a lot out...too much me talking. MM makes killer stuff. Wont say yet what I went with, but it was a decision between MM and another company. This new setup is set for hooking at the strip.
What part of texas do you live im about a hr south of houston in lakejackson been working on my 93 gt fox body all weekend would like to check out the turbo fox
It's not the amount of power. The axle acts as a very large lever and when you take out the 'give', the compliance of the rubber bushings something has to give. So, torn up bushings, torque boxes, etc. Fox suspension binds by design or they would have had to add a panhard bar to control side to side movement.
You should post questions here. Not saying I have your answers but there is a large group of fox body enthusiasts watching these videos every day. It's good to get multiple point of views.
You can weld the seams of the factory pieces and that will help a lot too.
I knew when you said weldable primer there was gonna be porosity. Have to burn really hot and have a wire that has deoxidizing characteristics. Good Video doing mine this weekend.
Yeah , Im not a fan of weld through primer IMO. I get Its purpose though, but avoid it If I can paint all sides afterwards.
Mike, can't wait to see the Fox keep the rubber to the road. Great work!
Thanks Brian!!

Worked out okay, not welding saves time for sure.

@AliasSLH yes it seems to do well with boost.

Glad to see a new video!
Thanks!
I've had Maximum Motorsports Lower Control Arms on my 96 Mustang GT for over 15 years. No issues.
Probably more of a bad/cheap bushing put into the arms. Still a good lesson on what cheap buys.
Really is bushing quality I think. That and I used petro-based grease, not silicon. I could have tore them up. But they binded from day one bad.
totally worthwhile to get this done. installed the kit in mines and had it welded in as well. SOLID! 💪
Seems like you could just out some Polly's in there.

Awesome video! very detailed and thorough.
Gonna order a set of these and do em myself!
Great to see another video. I should redo control arms or bushings what brand did u have
These we're Amazon specials. But, I really think the same Chineese factory makes these for SVE, ebay, etc.
Was bout to do my uppers tonight. But ill wait and do them when i do control arms.
Went through a few bits doing this job. A couple came through a nice blue color from the heat. I was lucky and had help.

Great idea. I have some left over, I can at least put it around the welded seam.
Just seam sealer. No welding??

@@4eyefoxbodyfanclub625 good tip! Don't have a welder in the garage. That seam sealer is pretty tough.
Thanks man, i appreciate you im about to undertake this on my 87 but now im waiting until I get a 8.8 lol but maybe the lowers

Nice job mike, tranks for the vid!👍👍
Thank you Mike!
Thanks for the video 👍
I had the same issue with the "hump", just hit it with a hammer, no need to cut the plate.
Great video
Appreciate that!

Great video. I thought ive been subbed this entire time but i wasn't..so i just did that.
These are helpful but a real pain in the hind end!!!!
Hopefully the team z control arm kit!
Silent..no comment ;)
Got my lowers in and one side for the upper tonight. The uppers are not fun lol. My drill battery was dead and honestly so was I lol.
Yeah man! lol more of a pain than I expected.
How much would it typically cost to install them at a shop or a backyard mechanic?
Good job 👍
Thank you sir.
So you think this install is possible to do with out removing the rear end?
Why is there so much spacer on the top bolts? I would shorten that up.
You mean like thread poking out?
@@HOUSEOFDULA yes, is there a reason for that? Does the interior clear everything?

I probably missed it in the video, but which brand reinforcements did you go with?
My lowers were the same. Maybe just a bad design and crappy bushings.
Mine were shot. The team-z’s rock though. Holding up great on the street
Which kit was this?
Im gonna need to do this one day 🔴📽🔧🚘👍🇺🇸

This is true. I explain it poorly in this video I admit. Next video I mention a little about binding being the issue not really the power.
Hi
Would like to ask u some questions about my fox.. u have a email I can reach u?

The background music is annoying
Dont watch it then. But thanks for taking the time to comment.
