Thanks for the inspiration to dig in to these issues. Bringing a 93 Cobra (#305) back from the dark side of beat on hard. Torque boxes totally shredded....
Foxbody TB'oxes, A must don't matter All Motor,Nitrous or Boost definitely gonna fail! Yank the rear end down better access Weld an be done!! Love this Channel!!!!!
Great video and repair/reinforcement BREW2L, thank you! I took mine completely out and rebuilt them with some 3/16" plate so they will never fail again.
Good temporary fix. Def needs the full reinforcements upper and lower long term though. Not sure if you did or not, but on anything with sensetive electronics it’s a good idea to unhook the battery before welded. I’ve never personally had a problem, but I’ve heard of people frying that stuff (modules, ecu’s, etc). Great video as always.
Looks good! I had one of mine tear a bit, so a buddy made me some reinforcement plates. I just bolted the one side in since I don't weld, but plan to get them both welded up when it gets back on the road. That is an interesting kit!
Hell yeah glad to see Andrew ready to start rowing some gears . That car is everyman i knows ideal fox these days he got pretty good deal on that car cause it was auto and know it probably wouldn't have been in as good of shape if it was stick car some old cat probably bought that car new or a woman being auto young cat would have got 5 speed .
Nice job. What brand shop have you built. With the price of lumber these days I’d love to find out what make of building that is. Looks really sharp. Tnx for the video
I welded all the seams around the control arm mounts on the rear of my coupe. It's a pain. Doesnt matter how clean it is, the grease and undercoating that may be in the cracks and crevasses wants to come out and mess your weld up.
If you are going anywhere north of say, 350hp, go ahead and put the subframes on it and the torque box reinforcements. Sticky tires and torque are what caused the problems. Way better if you do it before it gets bad. The back of my car was tearing all the way across and the rear was basically steering the car going down the road lol. Looks like crap now. Prevent it before it gets bad. *Very interested in this, never seen a pair of reinforcments that look like that with an arm on them? Funny story, we bought a set back in the day and a "artist" buddy of mine made templates out of carboard and we had someone make them up for us with thicker steel...think it cost me $15 lol!
@@robertelmo7736 I have over 350hp, but it's been my baby for 30 years. It doesn't see slicks or the track. I gave it an extra 100+ hp by doing the top end, and some 3.73's. I have the kit for the subframe to be safe, but wasn't sure about the torque boxes. Maybe I'll see what the frame guy says. This car only has 60K on it, but I don't want a twisted frame.
Great Video and really love the way you explain things. Makes it easy to understand how important things are. Would I be rude to ask approximately how many dollars we are looking at for a lift of that quality?
When they rip out at 120mph +..BAD CHIT HAPPENS! ESPECIALLY IN A CONVERTIBLE! If they are "popping" get them fixed! Happen to me in my 93 feature car headed to the US19 Dragway in Albany Georgia back in the day.. I got lucky!
Don’t feel too bad about the torque box’s. When I pulled rear end out of my car the drive side was only being held in by the control arm bolt which thankfully the sub frame connectors where doing their job and supporting the torque box... yea I even did a autocross not knowing that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wait what ? they make torque box reinforcement kits .. you could have repaired the problem and made it never happen again ? or you could have added addtional supporting PLATES to the original design if you are to "cheap" to buy a kit so you instead applied a band aid to the existing poor design ? and made a u tube video to show us that you are to cheap to actually fix or modify the design ? exactly what was the purpose of this video as it was not to fix or improve anything. Shoddy temporary band aide at best .
The lift and the welder have really taken the channel to the next level. Can't wait to see the torque box reinforcements go in.
Subframes and torque reinforcements are always a must on a foxbody !!

I'm loving the housekeeping. Great job on welding the torque boxes.
Can't wait to see the 65!! Love the old car stuff.

You’re the man Brew2l!!!
Really looking forward to the arctic Fox T5 swap

I hope you gonna make a series of that T5 swap, i will be doing mine in summer

Looks great. The welder and the lift is going to be getting a lot of action soon. I wish I had enough head room in my shop for a lift.
I just installed that BMR kit on my 93 LX and it’s a major difference in handling
Hey I just found your channel! I have a 1990 GT and came across your rear bumper repair video. Love the channel and thanks for the info!
Came out awesome man! Love this stuff.

I'm gonna have subframe connectors put on in the spring. Should these be looked at, too?

Always a good idea to strengthen the car.
Bro, you don't get enough credit for your music. Solid.
That t5 project is going to be epic 😎
I was rock'n my PFO hoodie the other day too
Looking forward to the t/b reinforcement install... just installed ALL BMR suspension through out.
Hope you do a video on those reinforcements. Read they are a bear on that cross bar with some modification on some brackets behind the gas tank.
Looks good BREW2L
😂 you were on que with me thinking.. " dude, just remove the wheel to give you some more space"
You are an artist brother..great work 👍

What do you think about the r302 block and will a t5 bolt up to it with out changing everything out
Your channel is top notch

I've never had Jacks. Jack in the Box, but not Jacks. 🍔🍟
Shoot yeah bubba, now ya cooking with greese....torque boxes look good, cant wait to see the artic fox on the lift getting t-5....
Man I wish I had a shop and a lift. I’d be out there tinkering all the time.
Nice work!
Number 7 👍 top 10 lol need to put mine in
Are you enjoying the lift bro ? Can’t wait till I can get one
details about the t5 swap hard stuff would be kool 👍🏽🤔
My 1990 GT had this happen. At that time, they were welded and painted. It's a weak link on these cars.
Don’t feel too bad about the torque box’s. When I pulled rear end out of my car the drive side was only being held in by the control arm bolt which thankfully the sub frame connectors where doing their job and supporting the torque box... yea I even did a autocross not knowing that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is that damage from improper lifting or wear/tear/beating on the car?
Not sure honestly... possibly from bad lifts 🤔
What size is your new shop?
I did the t5 swap on mine not a hard job should be a snap on the lift
Grinder and paint make a welder you ain't. 👍 just giving ya shit. Thought you would like that little phrase.
can they rip on a stock power foxbody?
I spotted the ole purple bell housing 😂😂
Great Video!!
Like these videos, lil projects
Those looked like HPM control arms ;)
Is Jacks your version of Jack in Box?
Getting good use out of that ole Lincoln. Lol
Whats the song at the end of the video?
anyone have a line on some inner fender wells?
A jacks n O'Reillys lol...
Gangsta
🤔💪🚗💨💯👊
Wait, is it not called Jack in the Box anymore?! I’m old
Put a torque arm in it. Four link is old technology.
four link works just fine
No.....to undercoating..please
👍🇨🇦
Hello...:)
Did you use a battery charger to make those weld. Wtf dude learn to weld most community colleges have courses
