It's a great watch. I just wish they did something a little more interesting with the dial. Maybe applied markers? More vibrant colors, or a non matte dial? Great review. Thanks.
Great vid. Great watch. 400 caliber/5Day Power Reserve, Titanium, Aeronautic Seat Belt Style, Buckle, Turbine bezel abd crown-and that bracelet! What’s not to like?! Looks like Exquisite is now selling the blue dial for 2850, while salmon and grey are still 4300, Kermit 4600. Just got the blue one on the secondary market, in nearly mint condition, for considerably less. On the way. Can’t wait.
I adore everything about this but the dial. It’s a bit underwhelming compared to the new in-house Cal 400 and the inspired design of the case and bracelet. Knowing Oris, it wouldn’t be surprising to see variations that address this in the future.
Exactly this. I was hoping for a somewhat toned and scaled down version of the original X, but the dial is way too plain compared to the rest. Just a little bit extra would help. Sunburst, applied markers, or even just the simple but stunning glossy black dial of something like the Sinn 556 would be enough. This dial looks like an afterthought.
Great review Chris. Luv the brand, this watch, Ti build, the articulated bracelet, but the desaturated dial/date with minimal Lume Is passable. If I pick this up from the secondhand market, I’ll dial swap with better hands, No date.
It seems like the only people who've purchased this watch already have multiple 4k+ watches and want something a bit different. Which is fine! But there's no way I'm paying that kind of money for a flat, boring kickstarter dial, and an unadjustable bracelet. No micro adjust or half links? I really love the overall aesthetic of this watch, but these problems are deal breakers for me. I hope Oris addresses these issues in the future for version 2. Great review, though, thanks for sharing it.
Agree about the no date but isn’t it because we have more than one watch (unlike you, I barely have more than one but still)? Then again, isn’t this a typical enthusiast watch? Who would buy this as the daily watch? Not that it wouldn’t be great for that, just seems too niche. Thoughts?
It’s a superb design conception, even the engine turned crown edge looks like it interlocks with the engine turned bezel when seen head on, a clever illusion. The only let down is the dial, the minimalism has failed here. Less really is less here and it shouldn’t be, it’s a pity.
Sadly, you more or less glossed over the real standout part of this watch, which I assume is also responsible for its price: that awesome Calibre 400. It's not new so there are various excellent and in-depth reviews online explaining its unique features in detail. This video about the Calibre 400 is highly recommended: ua-cam.com/video/SyFmCNz2pug/v-deo.html
oris is overpriced imo unless you go used. whiile watchtalking in the pub the other day, someone asked me about oris as a luxury brand because they they fancied a rolex but theyre overpriced these days and hard to get . i couldnt recomend oris. ive owned 2 and not impressed with either of them in timekeeping and build . i suggested a omega, tudor or a longines instead and if youre not bothered about branding then to go with a micro such as zelos or direnzo
99 percent of you hate the dial. For me, that makes it an instant buy. I love owning watches that people desire but are ridiculously biased against for the stupidest of reasons.
Ever since I saw this watch I’ve loved the blue and salmon dials. They are just simple and utilitarian and match the titanium case/bracelet as a good every day kind of watch

Dial is so great. Like octo finissimo

I own a big crown pro pilot so I am a Oris fan but I'm not crazy about the angles on this watch and bracelet.
The only negative I see is the lume. Really like this one. My local AD recently started carrying Oris so I might pick one up someday

They probably will. Just don't be surprised when they add 2k onto the price.
A closed caseback would be great
The Elephant in the room is the Calibre 400 issues and there serious and numerous , I believe these issues have been addressed in the Calibre 400.2
Good looking watch!
I need to find a pre owned!

That double left hook hurt! ((9:08)
Very nice watch. £3,300 in UK
how's the weight? :)

Thanks for a good review. Bye the way, I would not buy a watch that didn't have a date display 😁
Damn. Poor Lume for that price, that’s robbery.
Beautiful case, great bracelet and clasp. Dial so dull it’s disgusting.

Skeleton version looks much better.

Dial is so flat and above that a 39 mm ? Is it for men? For women? In between?😂😊

Have the grey dial. Very happy with the watch
I love this dial too
