We'll be firing boiler before stopping the engine... That time we maintain boiler pressure between 6 bar to 8 bar for normal ships.. for tanker ships we maintain 12-15 bar during discharging Cargo.. for atomizing steam we need less than 5 bar.. ... .. and for atomizing there is no compulsion to use steam.. we can use normal compressed air ... Initially when we fire boiler from zero bar we use compressed Air only.. after boiler pressure is more than 5 -6 bar, then only we change to steam. Because steam is efficient compared to air .. using air is not good for compressor.. eg unnecessarily air compressor running hour's will increase.. in case steam there is no issues..
