  • The shrimp to shark is back with a new video
    Boilers and the steam system on board!
    Heat is an extremely important type of energy we use on the ship for all sorts of things..check it out in this video why steam is important and how different types of boilers produce them.
    Then we will see how our water tube boiler produces the much needed steam for our vessel.
    Thank you once again for sticking around in my adventure in growing as a maritime engineer.

    It's been a while Rafael since your last video. I spent 12 years in the 70's and 80's on tankers both diesel and steam turbine driven and this brought back good memories. As I have said before these videos would have been useful in my early years as training aids; but You Tube was not a thing back then lol 😂

      Aye, it's been a while but this will always be on my back burner of projects. I'm glad it these videos could give some good nostalgia haha. For sure the future will be full of fellow seafarers sharing their experience making it easier for the newbies.

    why are we using induced fan in incinerator

    • @ShrimptoShark
      @ShrimptoShark  Рік тому

      For the boiler: to supply air for the combustion
      For the incinerator: it is needed to keep a draft inside the chambers and due to the duct outlet we create a negative pressure inside (due to the vaccum created by the high speed air passing though the duct).

    hello ! can you make a vıdeo what engıne crew are do durıng anchorıng operatıon

    • @ShrimptoShark
      @ShrimptoShark  Рік тому +1

      It would be interesting my friend, however quite short and Un-eventful. We mostly "prepare" for maneuvering / anchoring operations by having more energy available (prepare more generators), accepting telegraph orders for lowering / raising main engine rpm speed / being stand-by in case alarms happen and we need to operate some equipment because an automatism failed (air compressors or air reservoir empty for example).
