Thank you so much for your video! My vacuum's been sitting useless for about a year, I took it apart over and over and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it until I removed the end cap for the motor controller and saw that it was crammed with hair. Working perfectly now :)
I just cleaned whole machine with high air pressure and gat half tissue paper was stuck in one big wheel hidden inside and its working perfectly Thanks a lot.
MVP! I took the vacuum apart maybe on 7 different occasions trying to figure this shit out. I did check the sensors at the end, I could not see any obvious dirt or Derby, but I cleaned them well, and now it's working again!!!
Thanks for the video. Mine had this problem also. Most likely a sensor issue like you said. I took one wheel out and cleaned it. I ended up blasting it with my air compressor instead of vacuuming it, I also blasted the other wheel that was still screwed in. While I was at it I hit the whole bottom and everything I could with the compressed air. I definitely saw a lot of dust and hair flying out. This fixed the problem. I'll probably proactively start cleaning with the air compressor monthly to hopefully keep this error from coming back.
You just saved me from buying another unit. After removing a ton of fur from the sensor it’s working well. Thank you. Edit: Make sure you have the proper screwdriver I think I used a t20 or t15 but typical bit holders are to fat to get into the screw wells.
I had a problem with the left drive motor unit of a Shark RV750N robot vacuum. What happened was that the motor would tend to run very hot, and rather quickly in fact. When that occurred, either the black plastic actuator would slip off the shaft (the plastic would soften), or the motor would simply seize up. After I swapped that left drive motor unit out with a good spare, the Shark RV750N robot vacuum was back on the job.
I don't have the unit anymore but these are not hex or allen key screw heads. You will need a cheap set of Torx drivers. If you live in the US, Harbour Freight has some stupid cheap ones you can buy.
@@burntsemiconductor Thanks for the reply. This is unforthunately a Bad point for shark Vacuums, i am used to Roborock where you Can find nearly every part quite easily on Ali.
Sadly I am not sure- I started having other unrelated problems with this robot and replaced it with a roborock vacuum that has lidar, darn thing mapped my house in like 20mins and has an android app that actually works. Shark is dead to me. If you find a way to fix it you should post a video I am blown away how shark has made this unit worse and worse with every software update. Mine would get stuck then I would have to reboot the robot and the base for it to actually run on schedule again! Argh! Seriously if you are frustrated with your shark consider a roborock, I wont go back. Anyhow- sorry my reply is not super helpful, I sadly just threw my hands up after working on this thing over and over. 😞
I loved my shark I originally bought the first one that just bumped around and didn’t have high hopes but it ended up cleaning so well and with the big wheel base it had no trouble going over my handmade wood room dividers it just got over everything. So when the new self empty xl came out on Amazon for a treasure truck deal I bought it and it to was awesome but started having internet issues and would be down for a week or so here and there but then would come back but still cleaned so well at just about the year mark all of a sudden we got an error saying there was something in the wheel and it would run but it’s was going crazy like faster and just wherever almost like my original bump one then it would error we took it apart there was nothing called they said there’s something in the wheel but there was not even hair. They offered me 30% off a new one and this was literally a few weeks past one year and probably at one year but I didn’t call right away because I was sick. So my husband searched and looked to find things to do. He took every single piece apart and it’s so clean so now as soon as it gets off the base it kind of pulls to one side shuts down and gives the error. I have disability with my spine and neck and doing these types of things hurts me so the robot is a life saver Now it’s sitting there. During Christmas I wanted the new roboroc that has fresh water dirty water and self empty tanks but it’s expensive I had a gift card for $500 and it finally went on sale so my husband said we could get for Christmas a week after getting it it kind of went to sleep and would not charge or do anything so now I’m freaking out this brand new expensive thing is not working. I reset it and it’s been ok since but I’m still so scared due to the price. That being said it clean so well works great love that it changes it’s water and cleans the mop head maps so easy and is a great machine if it keeps running and so far it is. The only thing about that I’m not to keen on is that it’s really low and with the rubber brush little throw rugs don’t always get along and my high room dividers pose some issues but it makes it over eventually it’s just that it goes so well to it’s exact spot that it’s trying to go back and forth over the threshold not just drive over it it’s trying to clean over it witch is good and you can’t pick it up put it in my sunk in living room because it has to know where it is and start itself from the base and I can’t add to map because I have to put it down there myself but in all it’s amazing I just need a ramp or something so I can include my other room so upset about the shark it wasn’t cheap either
Fixed mine…wasn’t dirty at all like the video. I started using a t20 bit but an Allen wrench worked best because some of the screws are deep in the housing.
This is happening to me but we took apart and there is nothing in there. We have dog but there was no hair in there at all so still unusable. Thanks for the video though we are trying everything since it was just past one year and was fine up to the day this error started ugh

Appreciate the good lookout. Mine was caked in dog hair and a good cleaning and air nozzle to the wheel chassis fixed it right up.
Thanks, dude! Had half a toothpick somehow lodged in the wheel well, your instructions got me there in a second. 10 mins for the fix!
Thanks! Mine has been having wheel errors for a couple weeks. Opened up the left side and it was jam packed with hair, the right side was a lot less.

What screw did you use for the deep inset star screws? My screw drivers are too fat to get to them
Allen wrench/hex key works for those
Small flathead screw driver will get them as well. They are a torx 15
Awesome job. I have cats as well and my shark kept failing. Thanks for the fix!!!

Was thinking about those wheels and how much they have inside the gears and hub
How did you get the caps off?
Can you interchange the wheels on a shark Detect Pro with an Shark Ion
What tools did you use to take off the wheels
Same question. Can't seem to find the right size hex.

@@burntsemiconductor thanks! Will check them out.
Try to clean whole machine with high air pressure nozzle.
t15 and t8 screwdriver
I have taken it all apart and I am still getting the error. Any suggestions? I can't even find replacement drive wheels.
Also check the betting side of the brush. The plastic end pops off. Mine had a hairball wrapped around it
Hi, is there a place where to buy spare parts for replacement (lidar, wheels ...) ?
Unfortunately not, generally I'd go on eBay and look for a parts only sale of the vacuum. Then you could tear it down and use it for spare parts.

@@theattorney6072 that is the brand I switched to

I appreciate the video! I did everything you said and I’m still receiving this error. Any thoughts?

Did you find a solution? I am facing with the same problem and even though I teared apart almost every piece and cleand it, still got nothing..

@@InstaEAX hi, I fed up and brought it to the service. They replaced it for free even I teared it apart and put it back :)
Im going to tear it apart tonight for fun, lets see
I just did two soft drops on a hardwood floor and it fixed the error 18 code😅
It's called percussive maintenance. ;-)
Did it work? Thanks for the video!
Yeah totally, cleared the error I was getting- thing has been running great ever since
A Phillips screw driver and a t15 torx
Brand new from the store. Plug it in, error 18. Return this POS and never get these idiotic robots
