I never get tired of hearing about the "magical" properties of plants. THANK you Dr Greger! 💪🏼🍃🌱🍀
not to sound cynical, but I think it's more banal than magical: You put the right fuel into the machine, the machine works well. 😉
@Elizabeth Allen Not fair. You turned yourself into a lethal weapon.
@Elizabeth Allen they can induce gout...
😜
They are many things. But not undisputed.
...what about FRUIT as "undisputed magical" fruit...?
Exactly!! I could listen to these for days, I´ll never absorb everything of the knowledge
@Elizabeth Allen Does beans not make you fart a lot? 😂
spinach....black currant juice.....tart cherry juice.....purple grape juice.....beet juice....fennel seeds.....beets!!! EAT or DRINK these!!!
I run weekly half marathons for fun and increasing to full marathon. Whole food plant based and barely any recovery time needed compared to when I wasn’t vegan - used to get regular injuries and could never reach any distance over 13k.
@Black Sperm I’ve lost about 5stone in weight but definitely not lost any muscle I’ve gained it ✌🏻😉
@Black Sperm I’ve never eaten animals before 😉 those who quit didn’t do it for the right reasons. Animals, health and the planet are important to us 🌺
@Black Sperm get to know some people outside of the internet you'd be surprised at how few online stereotypes are true 😉
@UK VEGANFAMILY 🙌🏼. Nice to hear your testimony! I've experienced the same results on my 100 percent whole foods plants only diet. I teach high intensity fitness classes and have more energy, stamina and strength than the 20-somethings who are eating their "cheese and chicken" and eggs. Woot woot! SO glad I changed my eating habits in 2010 after watching Forks Over Knives, then following these doctors and researchers. KEEP ON KEEPING ON!
@@fruitascension5089 Thankyou. This is amazing. Yes I’m always full of energy too.
You are literally God-sent, Dr. Greger. We are beyond grateful for sharing all that knowledge with us; knowledge derived from decades of researching.
I used to be convinced my cheeseburger, fries, and apple pie diet was the key to my success when doing my 3 hour bike rides, until I put it to the test! I experimented with a vegetarian and fruit substitutes and found I performed just as well or better. Now fully onboard with a plant-based diet for optimizing my performance.
Did you perform a double-blind placebo controlled randomized trial though ?
Curious how you thought eating that type of food would be of a quality level to support any extensive exercising?
@@7Jennifer because of the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away
@@7Jennifer Sorry, which type of food? My 'before' diet or my 'after' diet? If you mean my cheeseburger diet, it actually produced great results. If I ate about 4 hours prior to my ride along with about 1.5 litres of water I had excellent results and broke a bunch of personal best times on several long climbs. But as happy as I was with my performance, I wasn't happy about eating meat and the other 'junk', hence the experimentation with vegetarian alternatives.
The wind beneath my ethical Vegan wings. ✌🏾
I always said that it's ethical to care for healthiness and fitness. 😊 Psychologically speaking, healthy people are more content, and therefore less prone to seeking conflicts... and they're NOT so much prone to junk food (which is, quite often, animal based).
Yes, he looks very athletic. I should follow his advice.
@@FoodieOmni whoever said he’s an athlete? He’s a doctor giving advice. Are you so dense you have to say stuff like that? You need to read what you’ve written as you’re embarrassing yourself.
@@FoodieOmni He looks fit to me too. No roll around the belly, and a regular exerciser, so yeah, I agree with you, he's does look athletic. And you should follow his advice.
@@vegangames3468 Lol...he has been giving advices how how to be healthy, how to look young, now how to be a strongman. Look at him, he looks frail, he looks old for his age. Yeah...he is a paragon of health. I really should follow his advice. As you said, wind beneath your wings.
I love your grandmother's story. I have shared it with four people now and it influenced three of them to change their diet. It's strange but the one whose health is most critical is the mosr resistant. The opposite of your grandmother *shrug*
Will be trying some of these "antidotes"
I am benefitted from your videos books and articles. Thanks for all. Keep guiding
Arugula is rich in nitrates, too, without the oxalates of beets. 🌱
Thanks, arugula is called Rocket in English, beets may have some oxalates but certainly not as much as other plants like chard where you can taste them (not that it makes you ill), alcohol is a lot more toxic.
Great video! Fantastic information! 💚
I can confirm this from my own experience. I have much less muscle soreness since I changed my diet and was eating a lot more greens. I really never feel sore the day after training, so why not train... everyday.
I guess Popeye was on to something after all.
I am what I am, and thats all I am!!!
Thanks!
Great inspiration as always - thank you so much for your generous sharing
Very informative!👍
Thank you very much🙏
Use use /eat all of the above! I m on the right track! ;-)) Great info TY!
I love his accent more than his books and content 🤭🤭❤️❤️
Not clear to me whether spinach and beets should be taken before or after exercise? What about both times?
I think before, but I'm wondering how early before. A few hours or few minutes?
Either but don’t eat too much right before exercise you’ll get a a cramp and or indigestion.
@@sefp but will it be effective if eaten a few hours before working out? Because the fennel seed hiking part made it sound like it needs to be eaten right before or while working out
Please do a video on appendicitis
Dear Dr. Greger, in one of your COVID-19 videos, you mentioned that you would be vaccinated when a well tested vaccine becomes available. Your latest video on the topic dated from July 2020. When can we expect your opinion on the vaccines that are coming on the market these days?
But inflamation in his own isnt bad, it is necesary to repair dmg, isnt the anti-inflamatory effect causing to have a lesser spike on inflamation making the recovery process slower?
Too confusing, one doctor says vegan diet is end all be all diet , then you get a recommendation from another doctor selling another book about how keto is the end all be all diet which leads you to another doctor that’s selling a book about how whole food Paleo diet is the end all be all diet and all have research and data backing their claims .
The Paleo doctor is buying a yacht with his profits, Dr greger is giving his money away. Who should I trust?
I'm gonna pretend my sweet cherries are helping too
@Elizabeth Allen what about blueberries?
🤩🤩🤩
imagine how healthy raw vegans must be with all these benefits, you would think they would never age
Could you just eat sweet cherrys?? why do they have to be tart
sounds like we going raw lol
let me guess: it's vegan diet?
Not just Vegan, but WFPB...
Obviously not 🤦♂️
Thats why all Pro athletes are on a WFPB Diet.
@Black Sperm sarcasm bro
@Black Sperm Tom Brady?
ah lol
"heavens forbid people should have to change their diet to improve their health"
Why is Brian Shaw not following this diet? He says he is being coached by nutritionists of strongman and all he eats is rice and bison.
Too much of a big change? He likes what he likes? He's not willing to risk any decrease in performance? All top strongmen have been Omni. Not saying Omni is better, that's just what it has been. He thinks Omni is better.
You mean a strongman will follow the advice of a pipsqueak in athletics?
@farorin The videos topic is not about health but athletic performance diet.
Low carb/high fat for endurance athletes....some carbs for sprinting or strength athletes....higher protein for bodybuilders...simple
makes no sense, the macro balance is always the same, it's the volume of food that is different.
@@sudd3660 what do you mean
@@groovecouple4644 you have the carbohydrate, protein and fat ratio. also known as the macros.
a ratio of 70% carbohydrate, 20% protein and 10% fat. measured in weight.
@@sudd3660 that’s only ONE eating pattern. A low carb endurance athlete could flip fat and carb macros and keep protein the same, a performance strength athlete may want to up protein and play around with fat and carbs to to find the right balance, a bodybuilder will up protein considerably and perhaps cycle carbs around workouts but get the bulk of his/her calories from protein and fat. As a show approaches you drop carbs progressively. Some bodybuilders I’ve known drop carbs up to the show and then re-introduce carbs last minute to get the “pump” effect..depends if athlete is drug enhanced too. I knew one who won the Emerald Cup in Seattle who’d eat carbs all the way up to the show, but he was using GH , steroids, and insulin to manipulate his metabolism...
i will stop you right there, high fat in not healthy. but high carbohydrate is. protein is also a problem when you go high.
you really should watch more from this channel.
I'm just gonna cook a nice piece of ribeye steak, be back later!

I love eating vegan and all, but a bunch of this stuff especially with the beets has been debunked to hell and back.....
I want real actual tested studies and not snippets from game changers basically....
Re Game Changers: Gregor lost massive credibility with his BBBB (Big Bean Burrito Boner) test. His opportunity to set up a scientifically valid experiment lacked every trapping of one and he still thinks it was a great idea. Disappointing. Maybe he's not the right guy to analyze studies if he can't even design the most basic experiment....
Sadly, only endurance performance was covered and skeletal muscle hypertrophy was conveniently omitted. Because Dr. Gregor cannot make the narative fit there.
