"I don't like electric vehicles either guys!"
Danger ranger 9000 Uncle Chet quote🤣
You can not like something but still realize its the best for certain things. Like daily commuting.
Don't like how we are being forced/shamed to get one!
Uncle Chet really is the Doug DeMuro of Arizona 😁👍
"I'm a pretty normal driver" While filming himself talking to the camera while driving. I love Chet. He's the best Uncle I could ask for
I have a pretty cool uncle but Chet can adopt me any time.
Wow pretty normal driver , the Plaid , Ranger Danger truck, buying drag cars at Barrett Jackson , not normal but Utube Gold!💰
Every vehicle you review for now on you need to do what you did in the beginning that was hilarious lmao
agreed lol
Definitely
Can't wait to see it underwater
I love my keypad. I can lock my phone, wallet and keys in my truck while I ride my dirt bike. It's a $110 option. Worth every penny.
Wipe the key pad after you lock it. It's real easy to sprinkle a little dirt on those buttons and pretty quickly see what ones you push. I proved it to my in laws in my driveway.
@@picklefart good to know. Never thought about that.
Yup... it's official.
Uncle Chet hit his head way too hard in the Tesla crash.
I couldn't agree more!
Not one burn out or slide in the whole video?
The lower area in the frunk is intended for tailgating, throw drinks and ice in there and the melted ice drains out!
I agree. They’re awesome. I’d love to see some changes/upgrades:
400 mile range.
The steel skid plates underneath, changed to aluminum
Even the new Ranger has an electronic shifter. Open the door with it in drive and it moves the shifter to park on its own.
The Ram shift dial is much more practical alternative.
Finally someone is saying what needs to be said. These aren't big long distance tow rigs (for now)
TFL raced it against a TRX in quarter mile and the lightning gapped the TRX, but TRX was gaining quickly. Great review!
uncle chet, repping our boys at the sxsblog, hell yeah 🤙
I need an ev and i need a new truck, but I don't have a need for a truck ev with no range lol..
Still, it is cool to see the way things are advancing with EV's. Cybertruck still isn't available after years and this thing is already on the market, lol...
Well......he did bank roll them on that new place
Might be "your boys" but alot of people stopped watching them or giving two shits about them after how they acted and treated Kevin from KSR, which was absolutely childish and ridiculous. I never liked them from the start, never watched a video and after what they did I will never support them again. Now I'll only watch chet if I'm so bored and have no more videos on my backlog.
@@thagerdorn2009 you're a little out to lunch dude, people who stopped watching aren't real fans anyways.
I find it a complete waste of my time to read your premadona bs, that was how many weeks ago? Move tf on.
I'm sure even Kevin himself is less butt hurt than you goons in the comment sections 🙄
@@thagerdorn2009 "never liked them, never watched them"
So then you were never supporting them at all
"Boohoo I'm a big baby and I'm NEVER going to watch them again *stamps feet* "
You think Leo responding emotionally within DAYS of Kevin's upload trying to put the blame on Leo is childish? But you here in the comments literally weeks later isn't childish?
Lol, you're a fool.
needs raptor front suspension. definitely needs to go to a sled pull. lets see how tuff the tie rods are!
Load it to payload capacity and drive around town to see how it handles and if it effects the range, also would like to see it tested off road as well.
Any kind of additional weight will always affect rang. Gas or EV
Man I know he's got alot going on but his videos are always quality 💯. I remember when on channel E there was a show where they gave out t-shirt for being pure gold at events all over.
This channel deserves more attention
Ok challenge accepted: I sponsor the duct tape, somebody else the diving weights, make a pool again and this time give the drive trains some breather hose extensions. Underwater Ford with Chet!! We are ALL waiting for it!
Good overview. Interesting to watch and hear your thoughts! Sure EVs aren't the best option for all purposes but already they're the best option for some use cases. Thanks for the video! ⚡💪
yeah this explanation applies to the aluminum trucks as well. People like to bash on the aluminum trucks because "you cant throw a bed load of stones in the back without tearing it up" like everyone who buys one buys it for the purpose of dropping a bed load of stone from a front end loader into them. There's certain vehicles for certain purposes.
I love my Tesla Model S for what it is. Perfect town car, and even a great road trip/touring car. Model S is still a pretty fun car too.
Still got my gas burners for fun and tinkering, but I can also respect the advantages of a current EV. They really are good enough now (I'd say the 2018 mark was about when it was good enough).
In terms of charging, I bet I spend less time dealing with charging than most people spend at the gas station and the time it takes to get to one, fill up, and get back on route. Now of course, there are a lot of times there is a gas station directly on the route, but not always. My home is always on my route in daily driving, and when you wake up with full range every morning, you will never need to charge until you get home at the end of the day anyway. Takes me about 10s to plug in at the end of the day, and about 10s to unplug in the morning. So really, I spend about 20s each time I need to charge, about every 1.5 weeks.
I would say the biggest pain when it comes to charging, is when you are road tripping during the holidays. And that is just simply a numbers game with charger availability. I tend to avoid most of the issues by traveling either super early or super late. Outside of the holidays though, never had an issue with having to wait for a charger or too many chargers being taken up and not being able to get full charge rate out of the charger. Think the longest I have had to sit at a charger while road tripping during normal conditions, was 25ish minutes on a 125kW charger. And that is going ~300 miles between charges. Did a 2800 mile trip (one way), and actually made about the same time as gas (my brother beat us by only about an hour both days we drove the trip), since we normally stop around 10-20m with gas to get a small break. But the main difference was at the end of the round trip. ~5700 miles, and I spent ~$330 on charging.
I drove 800 miles from my home to west palm beach a couple days ago an 11hr drive. For an emergency with my son. I stopped only one time for fuel. Honda Odyssey 2012 avg 25mpg. Now your telling me you can do a road trip that fast? Gps Google said 11.5hrs I was here in 10 avg speed 75mph. You'd be stopping every 300 miles to recharge for and hour or so. Electric cars not even comparable.
Things never cease to amaze me, the speed at which technology is advancing these days, who would ever have thought?
A Smartphone with wheels!!!
It was inevitable.
I like the idea of daily it...maybe a longevity challenge? Maybe a working mans truck for a day or two in the different trades? Hold off on the underwater one until you are ready to ditch it. Give it a good life.
What the hell is a city truck!??? I mean I guess for your trips to scan design / Ikea but most people just have that stuff delivered.
Its a car for fat people:-) as well as those with large family, dogs, etc who don't admit they should have a minivan:-).
I really like the feature where they were shorting out and catching fire after being flooded in Florida after the hurricane.
Well duh they been under water
Plenty of gasoline vehicles have done the same after hurricanes too. This isn't anything special or new to EVs... I mean, I guess it makes a good news story, but other than that...
Even the lead acid 12v batteries on gas vehicles, mixed with salt water, can cause shorts and fires...
And clearly, its not a wide issue, as I can only find 3 reports of EVs catching fire after Ian, and Florida has one of the highest concentration of Tesla's in the country. Not to mention, Chet literally submarined one...
Not an EV guy but if you had this car it would run power to your house when the power goes out. Plus any car that goes completely under water is stuffed.
@@paulsnow1289 Yes let me run my house on my car. Hahah So when their is an emergency you can’t drive away because you decided your refrigerator and tv is more important.
@@gateway199999 na mate just an extra if you lose power. Not an EV fan but it's something you can't do with a normal car. Plus how much beer could you fit in the front of that thing.
12:48 The reason Ford says the range is not affected by payload is because they actually gave the EPA their "short range" trucks loaded with 1,000-1,200 lbs for EPA certifications. Meaning the EPA range rating is with the truck at almost max payload capacity and with the smaller battery. As far as I know, no other electric company has done that before. Ford says they did that to make it as easy as possible for people to switch to electric vehicles. They wanted to simulate real world payload and battery degradation.
Just found Chet's channel, this guy is absolutely hilarious. Love this content, definitely a must watch for me now
I have an older Suburban that I use for towing our small camper and when I have several family members or the grandkids with me. It's what I use to carry stuff home that wont fit in the car. Most of the time it's sitting unused in the driveway. My daily driver gets about 40,000 miles a year put on it. This truck would work for me as a daily driver most of the time if it were not for the cost. A regular F150 Platinum is 75-80,000. 100,000 for the EV version is not that much more when you consider the performance and cost of fuel. Fact is I'm not spending 75,00 to 100,000 bucks on something with a life expectancy of 5 to 7 years.
It still costs money in fuel. Electricity isn't free. Those charging stations cost money.
@@picklefart I live in a house with electricity... And running water.
@@tbirdracefan good for you? Most people do.
Make sure in driver assistance, you have hands free lane keeping checked. That’s the handsfree bluecruise.
My 2023 Lightning, Lariat, Ext Range, with Max Towing was MSRP 89,000 and 99,000 with tax, title, destination, dock, and licensing fees. I probably should have gone with the Platinum just for the massaging and lay-flat seats. Lol
Cracking up at the intro! LOL
Spectator drags, and the f150 class when cleetus gets around to making one.
I got the same one! Love it, I'm so excited you got one too! Now I'm chillin' with Chet!
Rich guy toy, it’ll be many years until this is practical.
Yup I agree. The pro is suppose to be 40k but we’ll see.
FYI, That space in the front trunk with the drain is a built in cooler.
You should see if ford would brand one as a ranger for you
I second that
I have the same exact truck. you got to turn blue cruise feature on in the menu
Best truck for around town no doubt I owned one for about a month before flipping it. In a few years I’ll get another one
years old batt pack?!?
how many years is the full transferable warranty?
@@feelinghealingfrequences7179 no I’ll go buy a brand new one with 100,000 mile warranty.
Uncle Chet, get 15 hot air popcorn poppers in the bed, auto feed corn into them while driving around the 202!!! WITH 3 LEAF BLOWERS MAKING THE POPCORN EXIT THE BED!!!
MAKE IT RAIN!
Or, drive around the city and feed them city chickens! Get them to follow the truck!
That way them birds will follow all pickups and shit all over!
Snow plowing sxs blog driveway, jump it at silver lake , pond skip?
Definitely some deep mud
Jh diesel tug o war!
Lift and 34” mud tires
Weld something with it!
Tug of war and dragrace with Garrett!!
They see me trollin’
A need a real uncle chet video, comparing the lightening to a rivian.
Would be sweet to see how it goes off road with a lift good tires, also see how fast it can run down the quarter, maybe chuck on some grippy tires and maybe strip it out a little for a run too
Great video you should get it painted/wrapped like a trex dinosaur. the front lloks like a Trex opening its mouth 🦖
"The perfect truck"
That wont even make it to los angeles from Phoenix in 1 charge lmao
Nice truck Chet
For the normal poor person like myself! It just doesn’t make sense yet! I also worry that they can and will shut down charging if anything ever happens 😬
As a ford guy, I'd like to see a drag strip challenge with a Gen 2 SC lightning & a Dodge SRT-10 trucks.
It beats both of them
Wish i had one just dont like the 100k price tag. Do you have an level 2 charger at your house for it ? And what would u change on it if you could
Throw some track tires on it for times at the road coarse.
Granted this depends on battery size but in general Ev's are perfect for almost everyone who commutes under 150 miles per day to their normal none hauling job
We need a weekend camping review with the truck
How many Bush latte cans cans one keep on ice in the front?
Swap the powerplant from this into a Ford Ranger for the next Danger Ranger :)
24 hours in -18 deg weather?
All of the above should be done to test this truck I really hope we get this in aus it will put all our tiny trucks to shame without being the monster size of the what we call yank tanks
Flex tape a door shut and really test out that paint
I put a down payment on a Chevy Silverado EV due to Fords one big flaw that it lacks 800 Volt charging. Newer cars like even the KIA have 800 Volt charging. Higher voltage equals smaller wires and faster charge time in the case of the GM Hummer EV especially with its 210 kWh battery it makes a pretty substantial difference. The other is the Chevy will come with 400 mile range and lower drag. But I love that Ford took a huge chance bringing this Truck to market and they make solid products so expect it to run really well. I also hear that they are using flame protection foam something missing in I believe 2013 through 2021 Model S and other Tesla models it did not help with a few Tesla's in Florida.
Hope you don't mind waiting longer than people have waited for cybertrucks to get one of those. They have only made 800 Hummer EVs this first year. They just don't have the supply for batteries to actually mass produce EVs. They are working on it but that stuff takes time to work out.
Dont hold your breath on the 400 mile version
Don’t know man , treated Plaid like submarine, buying drag cars Barrett, Ranger Danger throwing money out window then crashing. Not sure if it’s normal but definitely Utube Gold !💰
"make ford owners feel more comfortable... give them a handle" hahaha uncle chet
Love the plastic! 👍
Tug of War with Garretts Raptor. Should do a head to head in a few different categories vs his raptor
But is it amphibious?
I couldn't wait til 20:00, sorry. gg.
Great review, thank you.
Doesn’t look like Blue Cruise is engaged actually. That mode you are getting can be tricked by adding a 1.5 lb ankle weight to the steering wheel and it will no longer tell you to put your hands on the wheel. If you do actually have blue cruise, you will notice a difference in the dash display when it is engaged.
But can it drive under water though?
You should get in contact with srt auto works and race their trx
In stock form it beats the TRX
Chet the next doug demuro 🤣
VOLKSWAGEN is in trouble with Klaus Swabb for saying EV vehicles are pointless.
EV's are neat. Don't want to be forced to get one!!
You have to take it off road after you put 35's on it and see how it handles the mud, maybe pick up JH and go with him to his spots.
and next week! well see if it works as a submarine!
Hopefully he doesn’t change the brakes on this one
You should test it out in the snow, see how it does with that weight and the "4x4"
I didn’t think about the weight. I bet this thing is a beast on the road in the snow.
Chettin with Chill, awesome stuff 🍄
Take it on race week.
Can it be rwd only?
What we all want to know is it can it go under water??
An ev would have to be an extra vehicle for me. I’d never rely on one for all my transportation and I lack the passion for them to justify overpaying for one.
Take it drag racing 🏁
Spectator Drag?
There's a nema number on that receptacle that rates amperage.
i would like to see it under water not submergerd but in like 2 3 feet
Straights, shmaights.
Can it live with your now near-mint Ranger on the oval?
What does it cost to charge at a charging station on the road…. If you do a full charge
15:11 low isn't zero, There shouldnt be any concern about towing for a truck, maybe just the one time you need to tow something, you don't have to worry about a normal truck, but electric you'll have too
My main concern is if the battery will go dead in the winter, most times a normal old car won't start or even newer have there days of them not wanting to start bc of a cold battery, now your hole "gas tank" is frozen
The tailgate step on fords really are the best option
Good place to sit when waiting on the tow truck.
😂
Ford always has been #1 in the #2 business
Tug o war with an EV? The torque of an electric drive paired with the weight low in the vehicle would give the EV a power to the ground and traction advantage.
How many subs and amps can you fit in the frunk?! 🤣
Hey what's the closest NASCAR track to you and I'll try and make it happen there. Also left you guy a message if you would like to go to nome alaska and dive for gold with some ofbthe guys from bering sea gold on discovery
Im at the race now in Phx
@@ChillinwithChet where at?
So did thet ever find Donald Walter's 🤔
It is the most perfect electric full size pickup. Yea, and it’s the only one.
I want to see a car trailer tag along and then drop a 3000lb car on it to see how well it does, i dont live in a flat area as its hills all over but not mountainous terrain but still curious how range will vary with just the empty average 2k lb trailer will make
Its already been done by someone else
@@xxZerosumxx obviously i havent “seen” it thats why i said what i said, you ok?
Hi, Neil from Cheshire England.put lighter wheel's on it 👍
Dont park it at JH who's 🤣
My biggest issue is the change times, takes 5 minutes to fill up a gas tank and get 350 miles of range. I get it emissions blah blah blah. But what about emissions it takes to charge a EV because solar isn’t doing 90% of our power grid. I also can’t justify spending 40 grand on an EV and not be able to replace parts if something goes wrong. I can’t just go to the store and be like well I have a check engine light what’s causing it. My final issue is how much lithium do we actually have left on our planet. I understand they are trying to make new batteries that also don’t cause any waste but we are still limited to how much we have as an entire planet.
So when you racing the TRX??? Lol
I would like to see a video on how you have so much damn money! LOL But, it would be nice to see what you do for a living. I enjoy the inspiration from them.
5:35 @Chillin’ with Chet say you could probably charge your tesla.....
Moab or Mojave desert off road trip
Drive it from az to Florida and see how long it takes
