Is there anything to not like about either Donald or that car? Even his corny introduction songs are fun! Thanks Donald for sharing this gem of engineering with us.
So as I've watched Mr. Osborn on these videos, he pretty much grins driving every vehicle! And I certainly don't blame him! Keep making these awesome videos.
Gorgeous, imposing car. An excellent vídeo, by an intelligent, well spoken Car Person. Thank you Mr. Osborne for your calm, relaxed -- and yet knowledgeble comments.
I could watch Donald Osborne all day! I could watch a 300SL all day. To see both in the same piece is a delight! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and passion with the world.
To say a 300 SL is beautiful, doesn't do it justice. It is astounding from every angle. And this is all true without its racing heritage. There is nothing like it in the world.
Audrain, and Mr. Osborne....Thank you. This is the You tube channel I’ve been hoping for. And will support and enjoy and will most certainly look forward to a trip to the Audrain this summer God willing....thank you again, and stay safe.
I last saw a Gullwing on the road 30+ years ago on the freeway in Los Angeles. It was candy apple red and in stop and go traffic had the doors open to keep the occupants comfortable!
The 300SL is an amazing machine.........a seven digit price tag for sure..........a lot of performance from an inline 6.........not too many......if any American car's could hang with this in 1955........even a Corvette.......
Another great video. Thank you Donald! I have to admit that I was hoping you'd do a reenactment of the scene in the 1956 movie High Society where Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra drive down Bellevue Ave in a 190 SL convertible. Not the same car of course, but close sisters. Keep up the good work!
Little off topic, my first car (in the 70's) was a Benz 1959 190b, such a wonderful car. Had Mercedes rebuild the engine too. There was also the the 190SL.
Thank you Donald. This is the only way I'll ever be able to see wonderful cars like this. I would love to build a restomod style clone of a 300SL. It's just beautiful.
I was doing security at a medical shop in studio City a man was parked in front with a 60s E type jag I told him I knew what kinda car he had and he let chill inside his car dope OG appreciate it hope I could sit in a gullwing one day
The owner of the Glasgow Arms restaurant, not far from my house, used to own one. As a kid, I took every opportunity to go by just to drool over (actually just near) it.
It is man meets machine that is why it is a true Driving Experience I know that BMW would call themselves The Ultimate Driving Experience but you feel the road and the rage I only wish I could drive that machine
Hey Don Such a "story book" non fiction story. I wish. To me, this is the first super car. Racing heritage, 10 years after total destruction, Aviation aluminum knowledge, aerodynamics, style. A timeless moment in time The car.
When i was a young man I worked for a car dealer who had 2 of these. My job was wax on wax off. these two cars were parked next to my work station. Mint condition. But I was allowed to sit in them and have my lunch. If I only knew then what i know now.....
@@AudrainMuseumNetwork Steve literally means he likes Jay Leno's Gullwing . Jay has one in Red and it looks slightly bruised and battered . Jay bought it like that and just keeps it a tip top mechanical condition .
Introduced at Hoffman's Manhattan dealership, I wonder how many orders were from New Yorkers. I often feel there's an American element to the SL principles driving this German car to launch in New York and not Munich.
This car needed a really good 1950's set of scallops. Look up the Hooper Mercury. Or Watson style panel painting. At least some top level pin striping. Leaving a cool car like this in plain white is a crime . Great lines but it needs the 50's Kustom Kar touch.
The first car with Direct injection,Bosch MFi was the Gutbrod. Not the 300SL. www.automobile-catalog.com/performance/1952/1018895/gutbrod_superior_kombi_700_luxus_einspritz-motor.html

Great Video, Who "wouldn't " want a Gullwing? Great story and back story!!

What do I owe you for so much automotive history ? Priceless , Donald Osborne .

Wonderful car and scenery love how your shirt blends well with the seaside.

I loved this car as a kid. It never gets old with age.

Yep! That's the same smile I'd be showing when driving this beauty. That was a lot of rust in the engine. How long had it been sitting?
Donald is a walking text book of knowledge. Much respect...

Awesome job guys

What’s it like, he says with a grin like a Cheshire Cat. No words necessary. As always a great video.
Very beautiful interview thank you Sir !👍 i love that car 1' because Clark Gable had one😀
I never get tired of Donald. Always a pleasure.

I hope that I can experience that too some day, but there's always the lottery to rely upon.

The car.
We couldn't agree more, the 300SL is a fantastic car!
Donald’s living The Dream!

When cars were a gorgeous off white instead of the blinding snow white we have today
had a uncle restore one of these, he did alot of the work his self
Assess and caress. And thank you for sharing your knowledge.
timeless and perfectly balanced design. i would say 300SL and not miura was first supercar
Nice drive.
Beautiful example
This channel having so few subs is a shame.
Nice video Donald !!
here is to hoping 2021 brings an unrestricted cars and coffee and a chance to see both donald and jay

I like Jay Leno's Gullwing
It part of the Audrain’s Collections!

It was great in The Screaming Skull 1958.
The woman pictured getting in/out of this car looked about as beatiful as the car itself. Have to wonder if she was as racy, vroom vroom lol

No video of the mechanical restoration??
It should be a requirement that any informative car video, like this, should be required to use Donald Osborne as host.
What's that red beauty front and center? I can't remember
It should be a Porsche 904.
White with a different shade of white wheels is an odd combo.
I want your job.
