That Ferrari is just... The most beautiful car ive ever seen.
Yeah I agree with you man, this is my favorite ferrari as well. Especially the 275 gtb/c competition.
I never dreamed that my 68 Ferreri Gt308 would be worth a million bucks. Sold it for 500 dollars and trade for a 65 rolls Royce /Bentley.
@@WOODR52 no
Is it weird that I think it looks extra sexy with the dirt on it? It makes it seem a lil more refined? Mature?
Best video on the UA-cams they have now. No annoying music, No patronising 'on' presentation, No thanking your sponsors for longer than the actual 'content', No asking for money and above all else... straight to the action..... and a beautiful moment captured and shared. BRAVO, this was like the UA-cam I remember. 🏆
Anyone else surprised when they fired up the Ferrari? I figured this was going to be a drag and push sale. Impressive, I wish I had 4 million kicking around.
JimsEquipmentShed I think to start it up was a mistake, as all the oil will have congealed inside all the passages and galleries. Staring it may have put undue wear and tear to some internal parts...
The folks at Gooding & Company have experts who went over the car and took all the necessary precautions before starting it up. The day of the auction was not the first time they started it.
Except brakes. ;-)
Thanks Dr. Car.....I'm sure the people dealing with it never thought to like, change the oil and coolant, rebuild the carb, replace the fuel lines, etc. Hell they might have even replaced the battery....
There not stupid the car probably wouldn't of started after all that time left like that. The car would of been well serviced and checked over before starting it up.
Cars have been my living most of my life, basically fixing them for others. Bringing dead back to life after many years is my favorite. I remember reading a Hot Rod article in 1980 about the 427 Cobra. " The Cobra would peal your eyelids back, bruise your kidneys and have you from 0-60 in 4 seconds..." Years in the business and yet to run across one in except in shows.
20 years running my own shop in Denver, qualified back yarder I guess, because I can't work for someone else and I can't get enough ahead to go fully legit. You Hagerty have my dream job. I've brought quite a few back to life like a '56 Jag Mk 5, and a ground up restore on a '64 Corvette. Also I've done 142 fix and flips in that 20 years. But again, just to keep the bills paid.
Thanks for the videos, it keeps the dream alive.
Loved this 'mini'-series of these two amazing cars. The story at the end was wonderful to hear, as well. It would be really cool if we'd get to see the cars all nicely washed and polished. Hope that episode will come out some day.
Well done, Tom .. it's been a true pleasure following your involvement with these two magnificent cars.
Very surprised to hear them run, Ferrari sounded amazing, congrats on the sales.
Thanks for completing the story.Just found its episode yesterday!
Total goosebumps - thank you for these episodes of a, 'dream find once in a lifetime'!
you know Tom ? you're the most legit car enthusiast i've seen on internet and you have the most genuine expression when you see the car of your dream or by just expressing your appreciation on any cars that you found. i'm a new subscriber but i fell inlove with your videos immediately. you deserve a lot more subscribers, likes and views ! Have a great day Tom ! looking forward seeing your future videos
This has been so interesting and fun to follow. Thanks Tom and Hagerty for an inside view.
congratulation, thanks to Tom Cotter these two automotive historical pieces will see a daylight and live on !
I’m new to Barn Find Hunter and I have to say, I just love the enthusiasm Tom has for cars. He’s like a kid in a candy store! Very cool show!
So fun... I love cars and the nostalgic stories behind them... I was the girl who had car posters hanging up on the walls as a teenager.... Euro classics and American muscle cars are some of my favorites. My dad and I would attend car and airplane exhibits. He was an Engineer and really inspired me about how things work. Thanks for sharing.
I'd love to have been the guy that cracked open that aging garage door. Unfortunately I don't have the kind of money needed to aquire them, but I hope they are going to a good home.
Hopefully, the new owners will allow us to follow the story just a little further!
Hey, anyone can break into someone else's garage. Won't cost you nothing but a crowbar and a few years in the stir if you get caught.
Happy to see these cars sold to an owner that we all hope will restore them and enjoy the beautiful drive of these antique cars
Not every car needs restored to be perfect.
Great to see the whole journey of these amazing cars. Thank you for sharing the awesome time capsule from the past to the present.
2 of my favourite cars found in the same garage.....whoever owns them now is one lucky person. Hope they enjoy them as much as I would!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing. If I was the new owner of either of these, I would let Tom wash & detail them.
This guy is one of the very best auctioneers out there and a bloody nice chap to boot
4:43 I could of swore that auctioneer jammed that guy in the head with his gavel. OMG so funny to watch over and over again. What was that guy thinking, luckily for the other guy he didn't have a letter opener in his hand geez.
Chef Mike i laughed too hard for this one haha
I love seeing these stories come to life. I sure hope the seller enjoys the fruits of Tom’s labor!
Thanks for the journey with these cars. Hope you find more.
God i love watching these old classics go to auction, wish it wouldn't end, so so cool.
Truly amazing, loved following these 2 cars journey.
It's amazing man I almost can't believe it..from barn find to auction..thats pretty sweet
It was great to see you so happy at seeing these cars on stage, Tom.
Such a great story and a couple of iconic automotive examples. Great show man thank you!
I knew that Ferrari would command a high price.
All original long nose
Beautiful stuff Tom
Good job bringing those out in the light again
Amazing! If I would have only known, I should have been buying Ferrari’s back in the 80’s instead of old Mustangs...
Ferrari 12's were still very expensive back in the 80's.
I bought Ferrari and nomad back in 1988. Both in great condition over all and got them at a great price as well... $6.00 for both they look good in the case with the rest of my matchbox collection.😁
Ferrari v12 from 1960's ...INSANE increase in value over past 25 years, unreal!
theres no if...in life
I remember a beautiful red Dino for $10.000 in the eighties, sat at MCL in Vancouver, few year's later it had gone up to $30.000, wish i bought it at ten, and Mercedes had a rough Gullwing going for ten.
It's not really about the cars so much but about who made them. The value is the provenance, Carol, Enzo, these were the artists who had the passion. As much as they are worth had there been an original Warhol or Picasso in that garage you'd be buying a whole bunch of cars with the proceeds.
Your living my dream, amazing money and if I had it, I would love to own them, but good for the buyers, some rare cars
That 275 GTB is a rare and fantastic find, amazing to see at this auction. Just one minor thing: Wipe the dust off of it. This "original dust" lunacy is absurd.
Your involvement with these two cars adds some cool provenance to the cars' history! I certainly hope you were compensated appropriately for all your efforts with these cars! With auction houses getting 10% and more, a 1% handlers fee wouldn't seem out of line. That'd be right around $30,000 or so.
I really enjoyed these auctioneers as they conducted their auction. They were very professional and totally without the cacophonous banner of others auctioneers with their rapid unintelligible blabber.
I love that the announcer said "GARAGE FIND" !
1:48 theres the smile of a man who loves cars like the rest of us here. Lovely moment
I can say this. You have a way cool job finding rare and cool cars. I enjoy the show. Keep it up cant wait to see what you find next.
Thanks to Hagerty and Tom Cotter, I look forward to every episode.
Good ending for some great cars! Thanks for all the updates.. but what about that E30 that was in the garage with them?!
I'll buy the e30 lol please sen me info
I felt happy for these cars they were left behind and the new owners are gonna bring them back to life
Almost had the cash for the Cobra but I couldn't close the deal on one of my kidneys.
😂😂😂😂
Kidneys are only worth $30k who you kidding?
Lolol.....
@@A_Man_In_His_Van I got more then that for the ones I took out of a homeless dude. You just contact the guy on the list that has no chance, they will give you everything to get a Kidney...amazing...and a lot of profit in it.
Awe man that sucks a shelby is also my dream car
Thanks Tom, and thanks Hagerty for following up on the story.
THIS WAS SO COOL THAT YOU LET US FOLLOW BOTH CARS TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE BARN. ... THANKS!.. KEEP FOLLOWING THEM! LOL
A sad but thoroughly interesting find it just blows me away that cars of this calibre are left as time capsules just incredible.
Amazing, surprised the Cobra didn't go over 1 Mil.
Finally, Guys you have no Idea how much I waited for this video. you should make videos about barnfinds for often. Love and respect for all for you.
Anand- India
I was drafted in 1967 and could have re-up'd for three years with an $8K bonus. The 289 Cobra was going for $8K to military personnel and you could get it shipped free to where you lived in the states or where you were sent to by the army. I didn't re-enlist!
Glenn Weyant the should of would of could of plaques all of our lives!that wtf moment of why didn’t I lmfao
I got to see the barn find, so I am glad I ran into this video, now I wish I could see the cars washed.
After they are cleaned up and well sorted they will sell for even more!!
Nice to see the story continue. Hope you guys can get a chance to follow up with the new owners and see these cars again.
There's so many replicas now, people can't even tell a real Cobra when they see it. UNGRATEFUL
They sell a GT-kit car that looks spot on like the real thing, the prices of real-stuff force those who want them but cant afford them to buy the fakes..that look damn good
Look at ALL THOSE BEAUTIFUL CARS!!!
And the winning phone bidder is ? " OK let's load them up and ship them off to the Middle East . "
El Diablo lkr
These people got oil money
Their toilet 🚽 seats are made of gold
You'd be surprised how many go over seas...I was stationed in Japan when I was in the Navy and in the lobby of this high priced hotel in Tokyo was a 69 roadrunner... who'd a thunk..of all places a roadrunner....Dad worked for the contractor company that built the military base in Saudi back in 80..he said he was amazed at 1st to see all the classic collectables being driven or in the court yards of these massive Villa's
There are more cars than what you think going overseas of the old American Muscle!
Well at least they’ll get the care they need
WOW!!WOW!!THE WOW! FACTOR THX FOR THE EXCITMENT OF YOUR BARN FINDS!! AWSOME! FUN TO SEE MORE ABOUT YOUR FINDS ON THESE TWO!!
The Cobra didn't even break a million ⁉ It's almost an insult
Agreed! Cobra is way more car as far as I'm concerned.
I was suprised too, if would have been bluee with white stripes it would have brought more.
american cars always bellow european cars
Rover Waters yea ok, a Shelby Cobra went for 5 million, so maybe get the fact dummy.
Theres been one identical one for sale for 1/2 million pounds...
The anticipation and excitement in your face, fantastic story and thanks for sharing it all
It's nice to see good old Charlie up on the rostrum :)
instead of up his nose
There is only one word........WOW!
I love watching Hagerty!
Great footage, thank you very much!
mate you are he Best i know from now on which barn hunter's videos i be viewing First thank you so much for uploading and for your down to earth approach to life altogether this makes your videos the Best cheers
I bet my buddy Seinfeld got the 275, hasn't called me in weeks!
Thank you for sharing your search of old cars iv enjoyed many episodes. Keep bring us dream finds GW
The Cobra is one percent piece of Carol! 💓
Stefan Winter and 99 percent AC.
Julian Neale Heck Yeah! 💓
@@julianneale6128 I would take issue with that. Perhaps that's somewhat true of the 289 Cobra, which was largely unmodified save for the 260/289 engine implant. But the 427's required a great deal of redesign and engineering to shoehorn that massive engine into that very confined space, and to keep the front/rear weight balance to a near-perfect level.
*Carroll 😂
@@chuckschillingvideos actually AC cars firstly put a complete car together with a 260 and drove it before taking the engine out and shipping a roller, that was Carrols way of saving money....Thenagain vice versa for those cars sold in Europe, AC put them alltogether and was shipped complete from UK and they were called AC Cobras not Shelby Cobras. Personally i CAll them AC Cobras so credit goes to where it's due. AC for AC factory and Cobra for Shelby
Amazing series,, thank you for sharing your passion, the cars, and most importantly, the stories that make them more than just machines.
So when car auctions are in the millions the auctioneer speaks slow? Lol.
The car sells itself
No need to shout, scream and prance and pose and posture like they do in those muscle car auctions. These ones have some class.
Thanks for showing us this. What incredible cars at what were really quite reasonable prices.
Incredible story. Incredible finds.
Hey Tom! I'd like to have another '67 Dodge Polara wagon with a 383 like I had in high school. Mine was mint and owned by an old man and i paid $250 for it, in 1978. I put snow tires on all 4 wheels and took it off road a lot, where I probably spilled as much beer as I got down my throat. I also enjoyed tearing up the high school lawn and using it to run down chain link fences and bumping other cars on the highway (like Mercedes and Mustangs) when they hogged the fast lane. Find me another Polara Wagon, Please!
Fun story, I met the second owner of my 73 Porsche 911 last summer, he tracked me down and was happy to see his old 911. Asked me if it was for sale and I said “for the right price”
...and?
@@richardadams1337 ...and..NO
Cool sequence of episodes! Very pure and emotional.
Hearing that Ferrari start up almost brought tears to my eyes
Congrats Tom!
This was really cool being apart of this find! Thank for bringing this to us.
Old cars aren't a hobby anymore. They're a business and people have more money than brains.
g bridgman until our future interest will lose and prices will go down
if you had 23B $$ you would prob over pay also lol
Best comment here.
It’s so sad to see classic cars as a business. They need to be appreciated and Driven. Not Kept In A garage.
That’s why I will build a replica from Factory Five. $35k and you can have all the fun you want.
Just stumbling upon this. Super cool. It would be fantastic to see what comes next. I did NOT expect them to be rolled up on stage, mouse urine and all. Surely a little touch-up might bring some more bids, but I suppose the estate would have to arrange for that and did not. Surely nobody thinks it actually adds to the appeal.
“GIVE MEH A MILLION!!!”
I hope the new owners indulge us in the recommissioning of these great motors...
Tom, I’m looking for my dad’s 78 Dodge pickup, red. Let me know if you find it. I’d love to have it again!
there were only 40,000 made. which haystack should he begin with?
I think it's here in my town... was it painted with about 💯 cans of Rust-Oleum?
My ex father in law bought a brand new 1970 ss chevelle ls6 after his high school graduation, He still has it today. Unmolested, factory original with 7800 miles as of the end of last summer. He started driving it to car shows the last couple summers. Its a 4speed car black with black vinyl roof and white racing stripes. Love To know what it is worth! Beautiful car in excellent original condition
I'm a Ford guy, but not a "fanboy". That Chevelle was like a lot of GM cars of the day a beauty. A friend of mine had a burgundy convertible with gold metalflake and a white leather interior. Fast and GORGEOUS. I moved shortly after he bought it and lost touch with him. I have wondered how long he kept that car. I let my Mustang convertible (1965) go and have regretted it many times.
I thought I was cool for having 2,300 in my bank account. This video is as close as i'll be to owning a car like these.
my two favorite cars together.... so sweet
Did you get a finder's fee?
I'd like to know what they sold for at that very special garage find ? Does anyone have any ideas ???
@@vincentamodeo They didn't buy them, just moved them for the owner
When I lived in Flint Michigan, a friend of mine told me his dad bought a car that I should see . Flynn Tucker and I both in our early 20s opened the garages door and sitting there was a silver Ferrari 275 gtb !! I hope he got it from his dad !😄😎
Good thing he was repeating the bids so I knew what was going on
Thanks for taking us along.
Cobras use to be cool. Now everyone has a replica. Superformance are way better than the original.
Love the interest and pleasure shown by the host! Real car guy!
So I take it Jay Leno was the new happy owner of both???
Yeah, We were treated to we'll never be able to own a car like these unless something spectacular happens...lol Thanks for the reminder, appreciate it.
Am i the only one who wonders what happend to the other cars in that garage like that BMW E30, maybe someone knows?
_//target_blank ya, you’re the only one.
Not so, I would have liked to know what they did with the TR6 and Morgan. More interesting to me sense I can pretend to afford those types of cars.
yeah i want to know how many miles the e30 ix had on it
I bought those cars
It's in my garage now
Lol
Probably put them up at local auction would be my guess. Neither the Morgan nor the Bimmer is anywhere near in the same league as the Cobra and 275.
Thank you for sharing with us what a amazing story I love it
Wow very impressive. Now if Tom could only find a low mile 1969 chevelle ss all original
J. Patrick Glen on UA-cam finds Chevelle low miles on them
I seen 1970 Chevelle ls6 with low miles all original. Now if he can find Yenko car with low miles all original would be nice. Or even a 69 zl1 Camaro all original never touched now that's a find.
Being this is a public board where people can express free and open opinions, I"m not knocking you or anyone else's interests, but Chevelle's and Camaros and Corvettes are incredibly common, maybe even a dime a dozen. These cars seen at car shows and events are invisible. Rare? Hardly. I see at least 5 at every car event.
styldsteel1 this is true . Did you know theres more SS or ls6 or z28 or any rare car then built from the factory....lol ..alot of clones out there.. You can thank the car auction and tv shows for over price cars. As mentioned before in other public comments the fun and hobby about old muscle cars getting fixed and restore is no longer fun since prices are ridiculously high . Thank the tv and car auction.. People think they got gold when in reality the car is worth 1/3 off the price what there asking for..
Mr. Ace 831 0001 My ex father in law bought a brand new 1970 ss chevelle ls6 after his high school graduation and still has it today with only 7800 original miles unmolested in excellent condition! Its a 4speed car black with black vinyl roof and white racing stripes. Love to know what it's worth!!!
saw one of these in the south of france up in the hills , silver as well
And if I had a choice, I'd take the cobra regardless of values...
Not me. Rude and crude. Doesn't do a thing for me.
I hope Tom gets a cut of that! He earned it/worked for it to get it to the auction!
This makes me sad. Its a beautiful car meant to be driven. Keep it nice yes, but don't kill its spirit by parking it. I get buying cars as an investment but it does kill the hobby in some ways.
I know what you mean that's why I'm buying two cars the same. One to be driven and enjoy and the other to be collecting dust for 50 years. Lol
Jay Leno drives his. Everything is relative. I have a ‘91 NSX , my million dollar car. I’m ashamed to say that I don’t drive enough
Peolpe get old and life changes over time and things get forgotend. Cars to i have left a few cars worth money in buildings and im old now and money cant buy be life that why they end up that way sad but thats life . We are only keepers while we are alive .We all end up that way and die i still work but im loosing my vision and suffer bad highpressure.
steve thomas Jay Leno is cool and all. I can careless of celebrities cars. They don't have the enjoyment of driving the cars they get bored and buy different car. And of course the have the cash for it.. I can tell you something as regular hard working man I enjoyed my cars because I work on them and don't buy them all done. I go to swap meets and look for parts need for my projects which makes it fun.. guess what I bet any of them celebrities never set a foot at a car swap meet looking for next project car or parts needed for there project. A car was made to be driven and not to be scared of a rock chip hitting the car. I'm restoring few cars (my personal cars and guess what there going to be on road.. and enjoy every moment doing it and if a rock hits it oh well . You only live once.. enjoy what you got..
Randy Sharp if there worth something sell them.. If you know your at a age you won't able to restore them. Sell them instead of letting them rust to the ground. You mentioned your still working . Sell them cars and you don't need to be working at your age. I don't know your age.. I'm just saying sell them and keep one of two that you really want to fix up.
Some people got a great deal!! These cars cleaned up and reworked engines, brakes, suspension tires.. are now worth over $8Mil. If they brought these cars to Barrett Jackson Scottsdale or Pebble Beach RM / Mecum they would of gotten a lot more $$$$$$$$. I have never been a seller at a Gooding auction..
Both cars woulda sold for lots more money in Monterey.
Upright Ape oh yeah
Why ? People from Monterey do not know how to use Telephone or internet to bet online auctions ?
love them both id have given more for the cobra not many slipped by with the 428. awesome investment on the ferrari
@Steve B - I believe virtually all the 427 street Cobras were 428s and only the 427 S/C models were true 427 side oilers. If a 428 customer bitched, shelby would get them a 427.
any info available on if they get to stay in the us? or did one of them sold to europe?
That was awesome to see, I appreciate your posting this and the following . Thanks a million
