Playing with NEW SCULK SENSORS from Minecraft 1.17!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 жов 2020
- During Mojang Minecon LIVE 2020, the redstone sculk sensors were announced as part of the new Minecraft 1.17 Update - the Minecraft: Caves and Cliffs update. These sculk sensors are part of the sculk growths that form as part of the minecraft cave update. They allow us to create wireless redstone systems, new Minecraft redstone traps, and new minecraft hidden entrances. Mumbo experimenting with Minecraft sculk sensors leads to a bunch of interesting redstone contraptions.

There needs to be a new enchantment like „silence“ that goes on your armor and doesn’t let this thing detect u or something...
Yes, I stil think the skulk is OP, so unless something like that is added, oh the skulk sensors are going to be _so_ exploited
Maybe they can make leather armor silent so it has an advantage if you know you are playing against traps
Jorge Domínguez that would actually be an amazing idea.
@@jjdomenc28 actually, then it wouldnt destroy the werdens. If you had full leather, you wont make a sound and you dont disrupt it, but there are other mobs that will be harder. They should add wool boots so you can avoid tripping the sensors when you walk
While it does sound silly, I do actually like this idea. It would be super powerful since it wouldn’t be able to detect this stuff, but because of how easy it is to get wool, they can balance wool boots by making it where they break super easily. Like if you fall 4 blocks they break instantly or something.

THIS IS EXTREMELY USEFUL. If you have complex redstone contraptions, then the other redstone components might accidentally trigger sculk sensors (for example, piston noises). Theory:
Sculk is something special it’s not just another dimension to be explored, it’s a creature of its own. The sculk only spreads when creatures or entities are killed near it, and it converts the blocks into sculk. Suggesting it feeds on the life force (Exp of other mobs). There is no doubt in my mind that it’s from another dimension however this substance is not just existing in the overworld. It is consuming the overworld, this dimension in essential slowly hunting and killing the overworld. It is a parasitic realm seeking to spread and ingulf our own, and like most living things it has a means to defend itself aka the Warden. The Warden is merely the sculks self-defense mechanism and a form of feeding itself. The souls in in its chest are the mobs the sculk consumes, reused into a type of energy that gives life to the warden. Now although this is all very scary there is one important thing to keep in mind. To the luck of the overworld these sculk growths appeared underground in caves places were there is very little to feed its growth. It would take a long period of time for sculk to spread to from a cave system to the surface. This does present players with the opportunity to find these sculk breaches and eliminate them. That is if they can bring down the warden first…. (Sorry about all the text I get really into this stuff o-0).

The answer is no.
There are different ways you can explain this, just as others have provided answers to this question, including "depends on your definition of sound", "depends on your definition of hearing", "philosophically no" etc, but many of these explanations use spurious logic. The real reason why the answer is no is somewhat surprising.
The reason why the answer is no is because, actually, nothing makes a sound, whether you are there to witness it or not. As unbelievable as it seems, sound is just an illusion. Sound doesn't take place in the real world, when various things can happen to create an apparent noise. The concept of sound really just takes place entirely within your brain. Outside, in the real world, everything is actually completely silent.
When physical objects interact in the real world, they can create waves of energy that we are taught are sound waves, but these are actually just compression waves in the atmosphere around the objects. These energy waves carry information on a silent carrier wave which, if it reaches our ears, will cause our ear drum to vibrate, which causes tiny bones suspended in fluid in the inner ear to move, which triggers nerve endings in the cochlear system to fire, sending electrical pulses to our brain where we experience sound. The energy waves that carried the sound information are invisible and silent. Unlike light, sound waves require a medium to carry them. If there is no medium to carry these sound waves, there is no sound.
A good example of this is to place a ringing mechanical alarm bell into a vacuum chamber full of air, listen to the ringing, then remove all of the air from chamber and observe the sound of the ringing suddenly stop, despite the bell still being struck by a vibrating hammer. It's not simply because the sound the action makes is prevented from reaching our ears because of the vacuum, it's because the action never made a sound in the first place - it only made compression waves - and it is only in a vacuum that we can truly appreciate this reality.
If you are still having difficulty with this concept, think about a pair of audio speakers. Listening to speakers, we can hear voice, music, any type of sound apparently emanating from them. However, speakers do not actually produce sound. Speakers vibrate according to incoming electrical pulses, which creates energy waves in the air that largely duplicate the exact wave patterns of the original sound. From the perspective of our hearing system, these sound waves will “sound” the same as if they had come from the original source. In our brains, we hear the correct noise, even though the speakers only produced energy waves in the air.
Our brains and associated hearing system is sophisticated enough to gather and interpret a broad range of details from the information it receives through sound carrier waves. For example, we can usually determine where the sound originated from, its pitch and how loud the sound is. Our brains also synchronise our perception of sound with our perception of sight, which involves some trickery that we are not consciously aware of due to the fact that it takes a fraction of a second longer for the brain to process an image than it does to process a sound. When its all put together within our brains, this becomes our sense of reality, even though it is all just a trick inside our heads.
When no one is in the forest to see a tree fall, it definitely makes no sound, not just because there are no ears to capture this sound, but because it never made a sound in the first place. Even when you are there to observe the tree falling, it still doesn't make a sound. It makes compression waves in the atmosphere that your brain will tell you is a sound.
This not just some crazy theory - it is fact. Study the brain or talk to someone who does study the brain to find out.
Source: The Brain, with Dr David Eagleman David M. Eagleman, Ph.D, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine
You say the first thing you thought of was traps, but the first thing I thought of was REALLY COOL PISTON DOORS. Walkways that build and collapse themselves. BASE ENTRANCES. Sculk sensors are a literal game changer.
One of my favorite ideas from a friend was that you could build your base such that you have alot of wool along walkways and stuff. Once you put in a code the wool retracts exposing the skulk sensors, and then once you want to let someone in you can raise the wool again.

I actually think this is quite balanced, because most of the things demonstrated can be so easily broken by a moving mob, or player, or chest opening, or block placing. You mean the new creeper sound. Or the new skeleton.
please make a part too, i want to see more possibilities for sculk sensors :)
2013: Redstone introduced to Minecraft
2020: Wireless internet introduced to Minecraft
True!
Redstone was added in 2010 in alpha, 2013 was the redstone update which just added a whole lot of new redstone related stuff
so wifi...
What's ganna happen in 2027?

Now that I think about it. There should be a “silent” command, e.g. /silence MumboJumbo
A silenced player will not activate sculk blocks and _maybe_ not attract mobs from sound, probably not that. But that would be useful for making redstone in creative with sculks.
I think there's a thing for that with other mobs but not players
They should add this
sneak?
@@huhrawz That's what i was thinking
Or a potion effect
this will be so useful for my doors that open with pistons in the bottom and top once it releases on switch
i was excited when I saw these,. but hearing your excitement makes me want to experiment right away with the Sculk sensor. Now I'm not redstone savyy, but that won't stop me from trying silly shenanigans out.
Minecraft: releases new redstone
Mumbo Jumbo: I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED
Mumbo Jumbo: WHO DISTURBED MY 10'000 YEARS REST?
Pufferfish detection systems: You stole everything from me!
Skulk sensors: I don't even know who you are.
Oh yeah. Puffersensors were a thing.
@KOrTini _L Wow, that was really informative!
their uses will differ, the Pufferfish one is much more accurate for a small area, and triggers only to players

You could theoretically use an underground sculk sensor system hooked up to a system of traps and doors into a base so that your base is only accessible if you approach it through a specific path and any deviation of that path triggers a player killing trap.
This is gonna be such a good edition! Like the wireless traps, it could also be used as motion detectors, player trackers, wireless redstone, radar, etc.

Yes i heard that
“Wool occlusion”. It’s soundproofing and I desperately want it to be a thing for pvp maps.
just curious, how would it work in PVP maps and what benefit would it have?
Mumbo: there isn't going to be anything groundbreaking in this video
Bomb traps: sure thing, oli
It's going to be effective only in high-security facilities or as short-lived daytime traps, these sensors can be triggered by random zombies
I just realized. For map making, you can make things turn on with sound proximity, and add an infinite power circuit next to it so the light/redstone thing stays active permanently.

I guess they would make the sensors rare.
