Jai Bhim Anurag Bhai, It's always a treat listening/reading to you and Rahul Sonpimple sir. I(savarna) think of "using" religion as a tool for resistance which would materially be like converting in to Buddhism legally, having a Buddhist wedding, reading about it to the extent that you know about it good enough. This is also because as Periyar said that in India you can't be a atheist or a non-hindu, you have to pick a more powerful religion. But there is no surplus in that, I am still maintaining a certain distance from it. I can feel that surplus, that reverence when think of Baba Sahib. When I started reading him, I only saw him as an intellectual and an activist but as I started reading more and listening to podcast like yours and Buffalo Intellectual, slowly "Ambedkar" got converted to "Baba Sahib" for me. He became a god for me. This has also changed the sensations that I get when I say- "Jai Bhim", it's no longer just an act of resistance for me(right now what buddhism is for me), there are a lot more emotions attached to it. My view regarding how I want to perceive buddism has changed after this podcast.
Hearing Rahul speak makes me think on things deeply and relate with my hometown politics discourse. Hoping to listen more such speakers in the coming months. Really happy that anurag finally started with a video podcast. SO HAPPY!!!!!!
Such a thought provoking podcast, have always seen Rahul Bhai as an aggressive leader who fiercely fights for his community, it was really interesting to see this side of him and his idea of love...
At 36:00 Rahul Sonpimple is absolutely right. Divine authority is a very powerful idea that can shape and create social meta structure. In India it created caste system in India, it turned numerous warring Arab tribes into a solid polity that established caliphates, etc. Even without belief in God, religion provides framework for interpersonal relations between individuals in a society.
Taking the example you gave for Islam with Arabs, their divisions never went away. They just made different sects within Islam and continued the discrimination. So how does a divine authority help create an equal and rational society?
@@sarahsiddiqui6494 My idea behind divine authority is to create a common identity among oppressed castes to fend off discrimination by oppressors. For oppressed main concern is to end discrimination.
About your fear about bhante Ji becoming pandits. Bhai, angulimala bhi bhante bana tha. Bhante as a religious person has always been an open position in the society. A position that promotes equality rather than demoting it.
Great episode again, love Rahul Sonpimple's thoughts while conversing with AMV. Was looking forward to the answer given when amv asked about the monk later becoming (a vihara equivalent) of a brahmin priest, with the power, hierarchy and authority vested on them. Got an interesting answer on hierarchy being everywhere, instead. But to expect a proper answer on this nuanced topic from a 45 min podcast is a crime. Thank for leading the way to read more about Buddhism, esp Babasaheb's works. ❤ P.s. - amv's shirts and tshirts would probably need a seperate fan club, thanks to this channel 🎉
Dr. Yashwant manohar said in his book Surrender(शरणम्)means acknowledging dominance. If the meaning of sharanam as above, then the function of 'Att deep bhava'? This is said by the Buddha himself. And that is the ultimate ideal of human life according to him. One of the meanings of 'Atta dip bhava' is the path itself. Don't be dependent, be self-sufficient. Do not be emotionally, ideologically, financially dependent on anyone. That is, in this context, Buddha himself says that no one should dominate, no one should have monopoly. Further in the book he said Buddha does not say Trisaran. Buddha, who is the peak of humility, cannot say 'Bhi Surrenders to Buddha'. It means Trisarana is created after Buddha. And later people have given this formula of surrender to Buddha. So our first point is that the Buddha did not say 'trisarana'. Again he said that it's not शरणम् it's सरणं . Means in Marathi अनुसरणे that is 'to follow'. Dr. Babasaheb said in his dhamm diksha speech used the word सरणं .
Even if you convert to Buddhism, caste will creep in. If it persisted in Islam and Christianity, Buddhism or even scientific rationalism will not be spared. The politicians are the real Brahmins and untouchability practitioners.

It's our huge mountainous ever filling love and gratitude for him that we call him our God. What a podcast man ....💙 . Jai Bheem. Namo buddhay 💙
I want to tell here that in Nagpur there are many Buddha Viharas which has been made by Congress Dalit leader and some where on illegally acquired land supported by same this leader. That’s why these Viharas became political adda for Congress where chanting and vandanas are held for very political purpose. As Rahul said mostly women remain present there these women are also part of this politics. These same women go to home and watch sasu bahu’s serial and become the victim of this TV shows. Now some Viharas are providing some place for library for students residing there this good thing. But Viharas are not being used for its very purpose of imparting Buddha’s teaching. Your fear for Bhikshu becoming authority which can be harmful is already happened. This same fear Babasaheb showed in his literature Buddha and his Dhamma read its preface or introduction. Many Bhikshu are like roaming Bull and has made vastuk or worship of Buddha a business they are demanding money and clothes according to their wish but not capacity of a person. And they target rich families for this worship and many incidents happened which can blot the very this respected post of Bhikshu which I don’t want to mention here.
Is this why you shared zizek’s reel “I am generally opposed to wisdom. Whatever you do a wise man will come to justify it.” By the way this episode was recorded earlier you still have long hair in this :) Loved the conversation ❤
I think the main struggle for Scheduled castes(SC) all over India right now , is making sure the people who are converting to Buddism are not just following Budhha and Ambedkar like god .
