These guys (CSN - and Y) gave So much beauty to my Generation (I was only born in 1958) . So many of my father's generation (who, like my father, were combat veterans , and lived through the Depression) didn't understand how much we Love our parents... Some took an occasional hit of pot, & grew long hair . Hell , I didn't even Try pot till 1978. Grew my hair really long And super short for several years. Most important: Many of us had/have the best values and Love of our parents, just looked a bit different at times . Many of us were beneficiaries of the sacrifices of the previous generations. A few were spoiled, but most were NOT . I hope our parents (dead or still alive) understand that the vast majority of your children respect Your Sacrifices and love /respect you DEEPLY . 'Nuff said .
It proved how expansive his talents were. He covered alot of genre on that album. Saw him at Carnegie Hall when it came out. I've been in love since 17.

By Neil Young, of course. At the start of Broken Arrow, there is part of a live recording of it with Dewey singing and doing a good job. Most of my other favourite Buffalo Sptringfield songs were written and played by Stills. What a fine guitarist, although somehow Neil had a talent for certain sounds and solos that Stills didnt have, though Stills was more of a virtuous. When I went to boot camp towards the end of Nam, I took a cassette of Manassas with me. It is still one of my favorite albums to this day. I am surprised the group wasn't mentioned. It is nice to see Stephen come clean on some stuff. I have always loved the music, not so the person at times. Fair Winds and Following Seas on life's journey.
Stephen has always been a real key influence for my picking up the guitar, a dynamite musician and talent. All the guys in the band were so fantastic together.
CSN&Y were so part of my growing up. Perfect timing, Vietnam was raging, us college kids were rebelling from the parental control. It was a hard time but we made it & most of us are successful in our chosen fields. But the music was crazy good. Very good time to be alive & 21.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Steven Stills is in my top 5 best guitar player's of all time. David Crosby said Steven is going to leave the band if we don't find another guitar player for him to play with, thats how neil got in.

I was maybe 4 or 5 the first time I heard buffalo Springfield. It struck me big time. Their first album. It was still fresh. A son of one of a family friend was playing it in his room while my mom visited with me in tow.
Both Crosby and to some degree Nash are decent guitar players Stephen was miles ahead of them. They were all talented song writers and their sum was greater than the parts.
Neil didn’t make the majority of the music for CSN-Stills did. Stephen is by far the musical genius of the group and the most mentally sound thru all the drama. Neil’s musical soulmate, Stills just produced magic throughout it all. Nash & Crosby made little music-they SANG Stephens masterpieces.

BTW Stephen Stills, I really like the For What It's Worth recorded version and Carry on is one of my favorite compositions of yours. I lived about a mile from them all in Laurel Canyon in 1967 and the entire decade of CSNY was colored by the music of them and ALL the rest Joni and Jimi and Eric, etc etc. It's impossible to remember anything from nearly 60 years ago, without hearing them all in my head. There is magic and that's all it was, never happened again and probably never will again. Now that AI and the gassy marshland of music we have come to, are about to color this time in history, we have Trump and mass killings with politicians that don't care. Now it's just about money, but from 1963 until disco hit us, it was about LOVE. The eagle flies with the dove kind of stuff. Love the one youre with, was a healthy poetic bit of advice. Now we have no heros at all.
In the 90s Stills was booked for a show in my town in Montana. He was supposed to stay at the lodge where my dad worked. He demanded that they rent a king size bed for him since all the rooms only had queen size beds. They refused and referred him to a nearby place that had king size beds.
Move Around, Both of Us (Bound to lose), Treetop Flyer, It Doesn't Matter, Pensamiento... I could go on. SS has written some fantastic material. I play his solo material over and over again. Appreciate the interview. Only Paul Simon is a better interviewee.

He WAS the one that was pissed off because he didn't want to be filmed. That's why he was left off that performance. He thought the music was the only thing important and felt Stephen Stills was overdoing the theatrics when he was singing. It was early in the band's career and no one knew the significance of Woodstock when it was happening.
My understanding is Neil Insisted no footage of himself be shown. He was filmed. There is footage that exists. They do not show this because of the request by Young. It was Young who requested no film would show him. It was not the film editors decision, on their part, to edit Neil Young. The request was made by the artist.
@@dropway9108 From what I can gather, there are conflicting stories about this, depending on who is being interviewed. Yes, NY says it was at his request he wasn't shown in the film of that performance. However, I've seen other interviews where it is said that NY was so strung out and aggressive at the time he was threatening the cameramen, telling them don't you dare point that thing at me etc. He was so obnoxious they didn't point their cameras at him at all. Personally, I'm inclined to believe the latter version of events. Especially seeing NY squirm so when telling this story. I thought it smacked of a self-serving twisting of history. IMHO, that is.

For some reason the terms "aggression" and "Neil Young's behavior" seem mutually exclusive. He can certainly act in a taciturn manner, but instigating rage towards someone else seems un-Neil like. But I have admittedly never seen him respond to this question in live interview form either. Thanks for the information. I will try to do some further digging here. Always good to learn new things, especially when it helps to reveal the truth.
I was stationed in Germant and laying on my bunk in my room C S N sounded more like home than anyone and even Kent State murder was brought to me because of them.
Having seen all three interviews, I thought Crosby was incredible, Nash gracious and wise, and Stills was just a little bit too full of himself! Not to take away from Still’s incredible musicianship, singing, song-writing, but just a genuine observation. Together they were simply magic, a miracle of our times…
He went trough quite the ego trip when Manases came out. He called Nash Cosby His back up singers at one point. Seems a lot nicer here. He just said it as I was writing it. Yes you did Stephen Your forgiven
It’s not “trough” and “Manases” either . It’s through and Manassas. And Mr. Stills has such an ego that he played at our Christmas party in ‘85 when he was staying at a golf course and Villas I was working at. He played and sang a few songs with a drummer and bass player that were also employees. He signed an autograph for me and some others and hung out with all 50 or so employees. That’s my first hand story, not something I read somewhere. Boy, is he full of himself! And who is forgiving him?
I always liked Bob Costas and my appreciation of him was heightened recently when he described the horrible mess Trump supporters are in. As to the Marakesh Express I always loved that song

Stills was always my idol. The first real song I ever learn was 4 and 20. Really, he turned out to be a disappointment. So talented, but so weak with the drugs and alcohol... He could been monster good. Crosby is gone. Stills will probably be next.

My understanding is Neil Insisted no footage of himself be shown. He was filmed. There is footage that exists. They do not show this because of the request by Young. It was Young who requested no film would show him. It was not the film editors decision, on their part, to edit Neil Young. The request was made by the artist.
@@dropway9108 From what I can gather, there are conflicting stories about this, depending on who is being interviewed. Yes, NY says it was at his request he wasn't shown in the film of that performance. However, I've seen other interviews where it is said that NY was so strung out and aggressive at the time he was threatening the cameramen, telling them don't you dare point that thing at me etc. He was so obnoxious they didn't point their cameras at him at all. Personally, I'm inclined to believe the latter version of events. Especially seeing NY squirm so when telling this story. I thought it smacked of a self-serving twisting of history. IMHO, that is.
@@lucydayLucida Well this is interesting. It sounds like you have a deeper knowledge of this subject than what I possess. For some reason the terms "aggression" and "Neil Young's behavior" seem mutually exclusive. He can certainly act in a taciturn manner, but instigating rage towards someone else seems un-Neil like. But I have admittedly never seen him respond to this question in live interview form either. Thanks for the information. I will try to do some further digging here. Always good to learn new things, especially when it helps to reveal the truth.

Having seen all three interviews, I thought Crosby was incredible, Nash gracious and wise, and Stills was just a little bit too full of himself! Not to take away from Still’s incredible musicianship, singing, song-writing, but just a genuine observation. Together they were simply magic, a miracle of our times…
I think he's very self deprecating and humble here. Unlike the other two, he never criticizes his colleagues in public.

And Mr. Stills has such an ego that he played at our Christmas party in ‘85 when he was staying at a golf course and Villas I was working at. He played and sang a few songs with a drummer and bass player that were also employees. He signed an autograph for me and some others and hung out with all 50 or so employees. That’s my first hand story, not something I read somewhere. Boy, is he full of himself! And who is forgiving him?

Stills was always my idol. The first real song I ever learn was 4 and 20. Really, he turned out to be a disappointment. So talented, but so weak with the drugs and alcohol... He could been monster good. Crosby is gone. Stills will probably be next.
