I love that they were faithful to the original vocal arrangement --you can tell Stephen and Neil were enjoying being backing vocalists, and they totally nail it.
I always live in the sixties and seventies especially musically. Next time I go insane I think I'm just going to stay there. Just as long as I don't get stuck in a bummer like a couple of the ones I had in 67, and get stuck in that forever.
This Richie mania is confusing. For me, Neil has written 45 great songs, Steve ran out of gas but at least 20 great, Richie .. I guess I'm not so into his country-flavored songs and I think his best song is "Sad Memory" so maybe a few good songs. Sure it was good to have him sing Neil on BS (not that I don't think Neil often has a better voice for many of his own songs). My guess is most of the love comes from Southern and Mid-Western fans whereas I grew up in the Northeast and maybe most of us just didn't hear that. Of course, Neil and Steve are country-tinged but less so and cross over more than Richie. It's hard to explain but if I hear a pedal steel guitar player or a lot of twang or country picking or blue grass etc, I am not likely to love it but it's not like there are not exceptions to this rule.
its confusing because you are not a fan of country music, Richies Voice &songs(Kind woman, Childs claim to fame)Help round out the Springfields sound@@oppothumbs1
Once Richie had got over yesterday's euphoria, he stood out like a shining star!! I love your mission and music. Very proud of you not getting in to the rock and roll nightmare circus.
This song made such an impact on my musical preference I've been an 80s hair metal guitarist for many years But this taught me what a tight band with great feel can make your emotions take over and your heart swells the harmony and vocals make that happen and all the heavy guitar you throw at it won't make that happen Buffalo Springfield That was a real BAND even though they didn't last
I honestly don't know. I think Neil was the one who didn't want to do it. I think that Neil Young doesn't like to be in a band because he doesn't like feeling trapped. I think Richie and Stephen were always down for a reunion, but Neil never wanted any part of it.
I read somewhere back when the buffalo Springfield boxset came out (early 2000's) that Neil finally wanted a reunion but was turned down by his fellow bandmates.
I know it was written by Young and he wanted to sing lead in the original recording, but Furay was obviously better for the role. And his voice is still good after all these years. Best Springfield song of them all.
And thank God that Richie sang it. I love the hell out of Neil Young far more than Richie Furay personally. But his voice was perfect for it and Neil's rendering would have been well, out of the blue and into the black. And this is a song that flies and needs a lighter , higher voice.
Richie was good to real good, to almost great IMO. Neil and Steven are legends. If I could play guitar and hang with " anyone" in that era it would be Steven Stills, Neil, a close second. Just his body of work, seems humble. Stills can walk on stage and wave and then just go home....Suite Judy Blue Eyes? How old was he when he wrote that?...Whew.
@@oppothumbs1 Yeah, humble was not the right word here. Let's just say they were all good but I was partial to Steven and Neil. The Manassas album,...another wow for me in addition to everything else.
People with smart phones think its wonderful to post their concert videos online. Get so tired of the crap audio...the listener is only getting a 40% max experience, so why bother posting it...just to say, "look, I was there!?" Would rather go to the original studio version. On the other hand there's nothing like an energetic live version if the recorder/poster takes the pains to make sure it sounds right. If you can't, just keep it to yourself.
…this is not of course Buffalo Springfield…this is Stills Furay and Young and a couple of pick-up players…i guess in the USA where Journey or Foreigner or Steely Dan or the Rolling Stones can still perform with one or two original members and nobody seems to care…i guess all the “tribute” bands have dulled everyone’s perception and discretion…
They said that they were so absurd as to think the only real competition they faced were the Beatles. Not absurd at all. They were better than the Fab Four and if they could keep the band together and away from drug charges, they would have been more popular than the Beatles. Even without the hype that the Beatles had. Buffalo Springfield had better musicianship and creativity by far.
Got drafted in 69, went to California for one last fling, first time I heard Buffalo Springfield I have been forever a fan.
Cool. Best post ever!
Got drafted in 1972, my last fling was seeing Emerson, Lake and Palmer Saratoga NY. fan of both as well. Tc, bill

Damn, we all got old. I will always live in the 60s & 70s. Play on brothers.

I attended this concert with my oldest son. An amazing bonding time for us.
Buffalo Springfield forever!
Richie Furay sings with such rejuvinated tone. THE MCCARTNEY OF FOLK ROCK

favorite band still - amazing vibe

My favorite of theirs. What a fantastic song.
my buddy rick on bass! miss you, man...good tune, love you guys, s
Going through a divorce in 89, I played this song over and over again. Love Richie's voice !
17 years old. my first car, first girlfriend and buffalo springfield playing on krla a/m radio!! I thought It would'nt get any better. It did!
Oh yeah. KRLA radio. Cruising Van Nuys Boulevard.
This song made such an impact on my musical preference

Buffalo Springfield
That was a real BAND
even though they didn't last
Funny how Steve looks like a backup musician in this video. So much talent. Love Richie
My absolute favourite band of all time! Wish I could have seen them in person.
I was lucky enough to see them at a relatively small venue in Chicago about 1967. I wish I had a Time Machine to go back and see them again.
,,,that wouldn't have been the Cellar in Arlington Heights by chance?
@@hardingave5 indeed it was. I was AHS class of 67. Ate Jimmy’s hot dog 🌭 and fries 30 cents.
Ah Jimmy's, The Cellar, Rec Park, Side Door, Hersey class of 72' but AH resident, @@larrylebowski8386
Richie still sounds great ....... why did these guys let so many years pass?
A Buffalo Springfield reunion 20 years ago would have been more amazing.

Thanks for sharing this! Too bad they didn't do a full Tour. Richie sounds great as are the harmonies!
This was my favorite song when I was in the navy. Long long time ago
Amazing, they still sound great, after all these years...Thank you for posting this most awesome song..
Beautiful. Thank you so much.
Though we rush ahead to save our time
We are only what we feel
Thanks for posting this. Must have been a great night. I'm looking forward to their coming east this fall.
Really love those guys

I love it too!

Richie's body of work seems humble? You mean not great compared to Steve and Neil who are Legends and "the Richies" are "Legion" (one of many).

GREAT!! It would have been nice if Jim Messina was there .
It would be great if they did a tour this summer. They sound really great, even after 40+ years.
They're on tour now (summer '11), but the good tickets are $150 and up, so get 'em quick.
And three years later CSN&Y reunited for the first time in decades at the same venue.
Saw both… miss BSB..
high school dances such memories
Excellent.
Thanks for uploading!
Majesty!
Ritchie Furry sounds fucking amazing
Hurray 4 Furay!
What a great band; they miss Bruce and Dewey....
Superb...only thing missing were the horns...which they used on the original version. Powerful song.
the choir is awesome!
What's with Stills in the suit? What's he do now, sell insurance?
Stephen pickin away...
geez richie's voice is still the same!
Best version is on 4-way Street CSNY album by far
Is that a Camcorder you are using,or a phone?
I can't hear you
groovey !
are bruce n dewey on stage or not?
No. Bruce passed in 2004, Dewey in 2009.
Neil sounds a bit off on this one. Nasty equipment may be to blame. I almost expect Blues Brothers beer barrage.
Rick Rosas ❤

I was in a Jersey shore band The Shakes in the early ‘80s & we did this one; great song; cool performance here

Let's not go overboard. I doubt that even Neil, Stephen, et al would go that far. That said, Beatles and BuffSprgfld WERE(are) the gold standard.
The Byrds were their competition. I don't know if they saw The Beatles as such.
