    Nash has every right to feel the way he does about Crosby. It's been Nash and Nash alone who's kept these guys going for so many years. He's been the peace maker, the instigator behind their reunions, and even the archivist and producer of their career spanning box sets! He must be friggin' exhausted. Approximately fifteen years ago, a very good friend of mine won two tickets on a phone in contest to KLOS radio out here in LA to attend a taping of Bob Coburn's "Rockline" radio show. The guest for this show were, Graham Nash, David Crosby and this keyboard player, that apparently was Crosby's biological son that had been put-up for adoption many years prior and had just somewhat recently united with and was developing a relationship Crosby. It was quite a memorable experience. But, by far, the two coolest people in the studio that we met that night were, Bob Coburn and Mr Graham Nash. Graham actually stood at the door and as we walked in he greeted each one of us individually, shook our hand, asked us our name and said "Hello, I'm Graham and your name?" "Steve" "Well Steve, it's a great pleasure to meet you, thank you so much for being here this evening" There were 10 - 12 people in the audience there that night and he welcomed each one of us with this very warm greeting. Truly a class act...

      @shirleypena837 4 роки тому +54

      @Tom Scott Drugs have absolutely nothing to do with Graham Nash going on this public tirade-to ANYONE who will listen to him-about David Crosby. What Nash is pissed off about is David Crosby publicly called him out for leaving his devoted, faithful wife of over forty years, for a woman who is about the same age as Graham Nash's daughter. Nash's selfish, callous action tore his own family apart, then Nash proceeded to go on countless public appearances across the country, publicly declaring that-
      since he is an old man now-it's his "right" to now do whatever he wants to do, regardless of who he hurts by his selfish actions. David has been a true friend to Graham Nash over these many years, and David said what he did because he genuinely cares about Graham Nash, therefore he hates to see Nash doing this to his family and himself, especially at this late time in his life. At first, Graham Nash was claiming that Crosby's action "tore the heart out of Crosby, Stills & Nash", but later claimed that Crosby's actions "tore the heart out of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young" because David Crosby also took Neil Young to task for doing the same thing that Graham Nash had done: leaving his devoted, faithful wife for a younger woman. That Neil Young's wife was at that time also terminally ill (Pegi Young died from cancer not long after Neil divorced her) made it even more callous a thing for Young to do to his family...and both Neil Young and Graham Nash know in their hard little hearts that David Crosby is RIGHT.

    • @shirleypena837
      @shirleypena837 4 роки тому +39

      @@beatlesrgear Please read my comment to Tom Scott, before you assume that David Crosby is "nothing but a selfish cunt." I think that if you spoke with the families of Graham Nash and Neil Young that they would disagree with your assessment of David Crosby. I do know for a fact that Joni Mitchell would disagree with you too. Mitchell has publicly stated on numerous occasions that after her stroke and long-term hospitalization, the ONLY celebrity friend of hers who visited with her in the hospital was DAVID CROSBY. Nash just LOVES to talk to the press about his short-term romance with Joni Mitchell (and that lame-ass song he wrote) from many years ago. However, when Joni Mitchell was alone and severely depressed in the hospital, struggling to recover from a near-fatal stroke, Nash was a complete no-show, although Graham Nash was fully aware of what had befallen Joni Mitchell. Instead, it was David Crosby who was there for Mitchell, offering encouragement and kind words exactly when they were needed the most. David also continued to be there for Joni Mitchell after she finally returned home and made her slow recovery. Furthermore, although-prior to his marriage to Jan Dance-David Crosby had numerous women in his life, he didn't go around stealing away other men's wives, nor stealing away girlfriends from his friends, quite unlike Graham Nash! It's a fact that Graham Nash did that to BOTH David Crosby and-most notably-to Stephen Stills. It's a real testament to the character of both Crosby and Stills that they didn't punch Graham Nash's lights out; Nash had it coming. Instead, they forgave Nash and kept the band together, when they could have publicly whined to the press that Nash's actions "tore the heart out of Crosby, Stills & Nash." You don't have to guess about what I have told you; it's true.

    I owned a video production studio in RI during the early 2000's. I was hired by the then president of Millennium Pharmaceuticals to document the couple's 25th wedding anniversary party held at their Grey Craig Estate in Middletown, RI. An affirmation of their wedding vows, there were 850 guests, a football field size tent, Disney authorized characters (for entertaining the children), culminating in a private hour long concert by CSN, his favorite band. (the couple wanted Neil Young as well, but he requested a 25K PA (personal appearance) fee on top of the performance fee, something CSN did not require...the couple said 3 out of 4 was just fine)
    CSN was flown into TF Green airport, then ferried via helicopter to the gig. I hired a crew of five shooters to patrol the property, documenting the event. I was tasked with getting backstage footage at the talent trailer of CSN preparing for the gig.
    Stephen Stills was incredibly gracious and kind. Graham Nash the same but also was SO personable, carrying on a conversation with me when i told him my older sister flashed her boobs at Woodstock while they played! Nash joked tongue-in-cheek, "those boobs made quite the impression...i have never forgotten them!". We both had a laugh.
    David Cosby was a complete douchnozzle. Sat in the corner of the trailer, pissy look on his face, poking on a joint. I had met many celebs and rockers during my production days...NONE more unpleasant than David Crosby.
    We had to sign an NDA including the provision we NOT shoot the first three songs in the set, as there was no warm-up and they hadn't played together in a bit. I instructed my cameramen to record from the moment they hit the stage, but make sure they turned their tally lights off and didn't operate their cameras.
    I still have the backstage footage as well as the raw and edited concert.

      That's right. He whittled down Gene's confidence, finagling his guitar away so that Gene became the eponymous Mr. Tambourine Man. He also put up a big stink about Gene getting the royalties for the songs Gene wrote all by himself. He claimed more involvement than he really had in the early days of the band, which was really the brainchild of McGuinn and Clark. It goes on and on.

    I went to see C&N at SIU campus if I remember correctly in '72. They started out playing some nice mellow stuff, but this big obviously blacked out drunk with a huge black beard kept yelling "ROCK AND ROLL" over and over. I don't know if there was security or not but this continued for several minutes. At one point between songs C&S tried to shut him up explaining they would do some up tempo stuff later, The guy carried on as if nothing had been said. I had always wanted to see any form, or combo of CSNY and this rude guy was beginning to irritate me because he was yelling over the performance. No person around the guy was trying to resolve the situation in any way. I finally had had enough. I went back to the guy and tried talk to him but all I got was a blank stare and "ROCK AND ROLL"! All the sudden even though I was trying to talk to the drunk in hushed tones I realized that it was DEAD SILENT. I glanced around and every eye was on me. C&N were motionless on stage looking at me like YES PLEASE. Not knowing what to do I grabbed a hand full of the tender beard whiskers on his neck and gave a good firm steady pull and drunk followed placidly going "OW OW OW" all the way to a door marked with an EXIT sign. When the quickly sobering man and I were about ten feet from the door C&N said something over the sound system like "We appreciate that, we really do. Thank you! Danged if I didn't get HUGE applause!" Anyway, I got the guy through the door and he was docile the whole way out until I let go of his beard. I thought we were going to go at it for awhile but he eventually reeled away. I tried to get back in the door that had I come out of but it was locked. I tried to get back in by the main entrance but was not allowed in. Well I am now about to turn 65 and I never did get to see any of their performances. LOL

      Don't know why this story affects me so, but I want a do-over on your behalf, like to get one of the idiots at the main entrance to check with C&N about the guy that just saved the whole performance. Or to POUND on that door until someone had the sense to check and let the guy back in who had the guts to do what they all wanted done.

      @davidkosa David Crosby isn't running around "throwing shade" at Nash, but trust me when I assure you that plenty of celebs have said less than flattering things about Graham Nash, primarily concerning his two-faced nature, non-stop womanizing (to the point where he was even making plays for the girlfriends of his own friends) and his constant cheating on both his wife and various girlfriends. This means something: that Graham Nash is a cad, period.

      I don't doubt it. Of course, Nash is no angel. He left his wife of 40 years for someone 37 years younger, and when his adult children were angry over it and stopped having anything to do with him (apart from one daughter, whom he speaks with once in a while), he basically said screw them, and also said he didn't care if he never spoke to them again. He said it's his life, and as long as he's happy, that's all he cares about.
      It's not the age gap between he and his woman that bothers me, it's the way he went about it and his callousness toward his children and others.
      And there's so much otherwise that just kind of ruined him for me, sadly. It's his business, yes. But he's being a bit hypocritical here.

    David Crosby continued to make incredible, beautiful music with ALL sorts of interesting musicians, many of them much younger, including his talented son, right up until he died. Leland Sklar has a very moving you tube video about him, made soon after he died, and I would recommend to anyone who is interested to listen to that and listen to what a vital, vibrant and adventurous musician David Crosby was til the very end--his voice was still such a gorgeous instrument. Time did not diminish his sound at all.
    He was a great and gifted musician who kept the spark of creativity alive his entire life.
    David Crosby in several interviews also seemed to be admittedly very brash and outspoken but he also seemed very honest and able to take responsibility for who he was and what he did and said. He might have stepped over the line and called his former band mates out about stuff that maybe wasn’t his business but they might also have had their own issues and jealousy about how creative and productive a musician he continued to be--without them.
