Great video. Getting the camera in the back of the engine was very helpful (I think my 18v torque wrench and mobile phone are the most useful tools!). I was afraid that I would have to buy a specific diagnostic tool (to add to the bunch), or jump circuit leads, to clear the error messages. Instead, your video just saved me time and money. Cheers
For the Porsche you can get the car up on 2X6 laid flat and then up on the ramps- that is how I do it. Go slow and have someone watching that the car does not push the ramp forward. - Those Eastwood ramps are very cool! Thanks for the time to make the video on the X3M!
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, That was just such a an awesome video, that you just made. You made it seem so simple. I also own, a BMW X3M Competition, and I love it. To me the S58 engine, is the best engine BMW has ever made! And per cylinder, the most potente of them all, of all times…
Wow, what a great video, I am from Recife in Brazil South America, and I myself also own a blue X3MC, thank you so much for sharing and taking the time for making this video, I was very explanatory.
Question wouldn’t you want to change the filter after running the car for 5 min so the new filter doesn’t have dirty oil running through or are you just worried about the engine being hot while changing it?
The oil has been filtered by the old filter. There will only be a few drops of the old "dirty" oil in the filter once the oil is changed. The amount left in the filter will be less than negligible.
You could change the filter after also, just let the car sit for about 5 minutes to let the oil drain out of the filter, but you would still be working with a hot engine and could get burned ...
Did this today, dont need to remove the vacuum hose, but you do need to remove a wire harness that has two clips done by hand. You need a ratchet with a long extension and a flexible joint, should have shown that in detail. Uses 0w30 synthetic, i use amsoil. Then reset computer. Uses 7 liters not 6.
Excellent video Clint Hightower. Once the oil in my 2021 X3 M Comp needs changing I'll know how to do it. The oil reset light may be a touch different though. At the 17:05 mark you had a nice cushioned mat that you were laying on. Who makes that unit & do you remember where you bough it from... ?
Don't use the ECS Plug, there is a manufactures defect and it is under sized. the OD should be 0.46" but it is 0.44" could strip the threads in you oil pan. I found out about it when I went to install it. They gave me a refund.

Did my o2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2 last night. Said let's change the oil couldn't figure out where the filter was 😂 Great video💪🏽

Great video, Clint. Very clear explanation of the process.
Thanks for the awesome video. Looking forward to following the instructions when I get my X4MC!!
Great video!! Loving the X3M and not spending a ton of money on maintenance at dealer!!
Couldn't agree more!
finally someone made an easy diy for this! ty
Thank you for the very clear description!
Thank you for your comment James.
been waiting for someone to make this video!

@@Engineerboy100 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Can’t wait for your next video. They are just really relaxed, straight to the point BMW video tips.

Great video! Seems BMW always has different procedures for different model years on these cars.
What a great video it was awesome. I won an X3MC
Clint you are the best! Do you have a part number for the vacuum line by chance?

Yes, thank you,, I love that mat. My wife got it for me. It's by Traxion engineering products
@@Engineerboy100 Greatly appreciate your help & thank you for making this nice video for us all. Very sweet Porsche as well. :)
Do a video on the tranfer box oil too on your x3m competition 2020 and diff too. What fluids?
Will do eventually. Every service that comes due, I will perform and make a video.
Thank you for a great video. Where do you normally buy the engine oil and the oil filter?
I get my oil and filters from ECS I also buy my oil for the dealer sometimes, costs about the same.
Thanks
Did you replace the coolant yet ? Looking for a video.
Great video - thanks for posting! Do you happen to have to torque specs for the oil filter cap and drain plug?
I don't have the torque specs, I've been doing this so long I just do it by feel now.
@@Engineerboy100 thanks. If I can find them I’ll post here.
Thankyou! ❤🔥
How many quarts does BMW recommend for this S58 engine... ?
After draining the oil, I reinstalled 7 liters. After getting the engine up to temperature and checking the level, it was perfect.
@@Engineerboy100 what oil is best to run in the x3m 05-30 full synthetic or 0-30 viscosity ?
Are you still have this car ?
How can I change the miles interval on the oil .?
Is this the same for a X4M computation?
I'm not sure, but I think so.
Have you done you’re front brake pads yet ?
Do you have a link for the ECS plug? Thanks

@@Engineerboy100 good looking out thank you!
Good thing they put it in an easily accessible place...... That's one of the worst filter placements I've ever seen....
You forgot to show how to put in new drain plug before adding new oil?
No I didn't, the ECS drain plug was not machined correctly and I ended up sending it back :( Sorry about that, I didn't notice until later.
