Great little flashback way before the absolute mind blowing success of Austin Powers! Wish we had more from Mike these days - when’s Austin 4 coming baby?
@Eric Babcock Everything has to be for everyone. People just get offended by the humor rather than just not watching it. Unfortunately, no one wants to be "canceled"
I maintain that if there was never a sequel made to Austin Powers, it would have gone down as a legendary comedy movie. One of the funniest of all time. Myers did a tribute to Sean Connery where he said Austin Powers was inspired by Sean Connery as James Bond. I always thought it was a bit odd as I'd say Austin Powers is more like Roger Moore's Bond but this explains it. It was the chest hair!!!
I remember my family camping around the TV watching the movie on VHS. I was only 7, so many of the references and jokes flew over my head, but it was such a fun movie to watch and 1997 HAD to have been my favorite year ever.
Haha I had a very similar experience watching this film for the first time in 97. So much so that later on I would use the movie release date to reference time past. I would say something in 2007 like: “Wow, ‘Austin Powers’ is 10 years old!” Haha 😂
He's such a talented underrated actor and so charismatic. I'm hoping there will be a fourth Austin Powers, I've been waiting since I was a kid. But even if there isn't, it was a fantastic trilogy with a good ending to the 3rd one.

its strange to hear modern interviews (2022) in that Mr. Meyers seems to speak in what I imagine is his own natural voice (albeit a mellowed version to reflect his age) as opposed to this video's interview where it seems heavily injected with the character he has most recently channeled (in this case, Austin Powers). Very interesting.
Yeah, haha, Bill Clinton was about to get Impeached for not telling the truth about cheating on his wife with a White House intern. That was white-knuckle news back in the day.
We were spoiled in the 90s with comic geniuses writing original, funny scripts. Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Adam Sandler, Norm MacDonald, Dave Chappell, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, David Spade, Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Jim Carey, Jeff Daniels, Bill Murray, Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid, Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn, Tommy Davidson, The Wayans Bros, Jamie Foxx. Just Hall of Fame comics and funny writers.
His doctor Evil character was taken from a Dana Carvey impression of Lorne Michaels...It caused a bit of friction between the two because he never asked Dana for permission.
Conan has the knack Carson did to make the interview about the guests and not about their stupid opinions. Sadly he is no longer on anymore. I could see Meyers and Conan doing an Austin Powers movie together.
It goes even deeper: to the west of Tronna are Jokeville/Cokeville/Tokeville and Burlington. And yes, we'd drink our draft and go out and make drunken mayhem. It's still there.
