- #MetalAcademix Episode 13 reviews none others than Latin America's #powermetal gods', #Angra!
We react to three songs, one from each of the main phases of the band (but not in chronological order).
"Temple of Hate" comes from Temple of Shadows (2004), with Edu Fallaschi as the lead singer.
"War Horns" comes from the album ØMNI (2018), with Fabio Lione as the main vocal lead.
"Nothing to Say" is from Angra's first phase, and their second album Holy Land (1996), with singer (and founding member) André Matos.

This woman is an Angra encyclopedia! Fantastic! Love it!
Thank you so much! - Anamaria
But they don’t speak Spanish in Brazil....
@@Andyw1228 nobody said they did...
@@snaxandviolence sure, she said something about Spanish language or listeners. She wasn't saying that they speak spanish, but somehow indirectly.
I commented, because a lot of people think they speak Spanish in Brazil...
@@Andyw1228 The spanish reference was for Pan’s Labrynth (Guillermo del Toro’s movie)
I’m very impressed with the analysis by the woman. Researched and commented in details better than Brazilian fans.
Awesome, you rock !
Greetings from BR
Thanks a lot! - Anamaria
Well, this woman knows her music! Nice video.
Greetings from Brazil.
Opa falou de Angra vim correndo .👍🇧🇷👍🇧🇷👍
Angra, pena que aqui são poucos que valorizam!
Yes! I promised that, when the Angra video reached 5000, we will prepare a Shaman episode and indeed, that moment arrived!
In the coming month I will do a deep dive into Shaman's discography. Stay tuned and rock on! - Anamaria

Band of Brasil, good video. Thank you!
I am from Brazil, and the respect and kindness that this woman brings to the show, and the way she talks about Angra, she really knows their importance, and she really taked the time to understand the concepts and the message. Angra, its almost an audio book, you really need to listen all the album, some times you need to know the background of the musicians, their lives, and the experiences they were passing by in the time of the composicions. And for me, was very clear that she looked to all this. Thanks for bring our Angra to new listeners! Brazil is more than samba! And we are so proud of Angra, Sepultura, Shaman, Viper, Hangar, Almah, and so many others!
Thank you so much for your support!
Yes, there are many excellent metal bands from Brazil (and many metal fans, too, that's why so many bands issue their concert DVDs from Brazil concerts - the metalheads there really rock!). - Anamaria
RIP André Matos
This woman knows Angra much more than many brazilians. Great job!
Temple of Shadows: an album which the main guitar is played by Kiko Loureiro, the drummer is Aquiles Priester and the singer is Edu Falaschi... it has to be epic! One of my favorite albums of all time!
Fiquei espantado com a pesquisa da moça do vídeo, realmente ela faz o dever de casa.

Heroes of Sand, Winds of Destination(Hansi kürsch), Waiting Silence, Temple of Hate, Late Redemption
With Fabio Lione:

Metal Academix for Spanish metal, “Living in a Nightmare”, from Dark Moor, and “La Cantata del Diablo” from Mago de Oz
@@RodrigoR9 DARK MOOR (especially the neo-classical period with Elisa Martin as frontwoman) and folk heroes MAGO DE OZ are indispensable if one was going to get into the Spanish metal... with AVALANCH and (ex-Argentinian) DRAGONFLY on the waiting list.
Make Believe has the best vocals ever.
I consider myself a super-prepared- music nerd and i’d like to take a coffee with her and talk for hours about metal history, concept and stories behind the greatest moments in metal. Amazing job 👏🏻
This woman should be the standard to anyone who wants to talk about bands in UA-cam! I can not say the same about the guy... he is like: "Brasil?! Ah, ok... whatever."
lol yup
VIPER:
You should give VIPER a chance, because Andre Matos was the vocalist in that band before joining/founding Angra.
I recommend you three songs, one off their debut Soldiers of Sunrise and two off their second album Theatre of Fate.
1. Song: Living For The Night ua-cam.com/video/Uq0FFFXdjA4/v-deo.html
2. Song: Soldiers of Sunrise ua-cam.com/video/rFVXyQwGCOo/v-deo.html
3. Song: A Cry From The Edge ua-cam.com/video/QM2It1fGh0g/v-deo.html
It is more old school into-the-face power metal from the 1980s which some Manowar vibes here and there.
Great reaction and insight of band profile. Cheers from Ecuador 🇪🇨
Angra is an awesome band with a lot of good music. Thanks for the video! It's awesome!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
andre matos was the first vocalist of the creek, who died in June last year, he was also the vocalist of the shaman, where they released a dvd called virtualive. containing songs like .. fairy tale. lisbon and more. it is worth investing a little time to enjoy and remember this great talent of Brazilian Hevy Metal that today does not live but with us but lives with God.
Don't know if you have seen it, but the Shaman episode is now up and running on our channel! ua-cam.com/video/0agINtvoxRs/v-deo.html
30 years ofAngra❣️More 30 to come❣️
This woman did an excellent analysis of Angra's work, very deep analysis. Congratulations.
The boy was extremely shallow in the comments, sorry for the frankness. He did not notice the work of art that touched his ears. Another detail that I didn't really like was the random images and videos, it would be better to have the cover of the Temple Of Shadows album.
Forgive my English, I don't know how to speak correctly. Do more reactions from Angra that I will be enjoying and giving feedback.
Hugs from Natal-RN, Brazil.
Agreed, I prefer metal with a bit more
queijo! 🧀🤘 -Michael
Angra is life
What a great video, very informative. I also loved the reactions and i'd love to see more reactions for Angra
Thank you
Nice react guys! Greetings from Brazil 👏👏
Nothing to Say is Angra's Anthem!
Maybe some "Shaman"? It was a band created by the former angra vocalist( André Matos), bassist( Luis Mariutti) and drummer(Ricardo Confessori), with the addition of Hugo Mariutti as guitarrist. They were and still are pretty famous here in brazil even after André's death. I would suggest the songs "Time Will Come", "Over Your Head" and DEFINITELY "Fairy Tale". They made a show in Sao Paulo in 2003 with these three songs if you guys prefer live music. It has amazing video and audio quality. You can find the full concert with the best quality in youtube, just search for "Shaman - Ritualive 1080p 50fps" and in the comments of the video there will be all the songs names with timestamps. If not, all the songs from studio version are also avaiable.
Thank you, will check out that live recording! -Anamaria

I hope you guys check Myrath, it's a band from Tunisia, so u can expect a very different sound.
That's the beauty of power metal, it blends to the country's culture.
Myrath is amazing! A band which deserve to be heard!

Best react ever, so professional ❤
I'm delighted with this video, This Woman has a very nice knowledge about the band and I just loved this video, thank you very much.
I would like to suggest another great Brazilian band that emerged after the separation of Angra members called Shaman, I think the best work of Andre Matos' career and I would like to suggest the songs despite being difficult, as they only have incredible songs!
Over Your Head (Ritualive)
Fairy tale (Ritual)
Turn Away (Reason)
Very Impressed with the research prior to the video recording. Very professional. Congrats!
Omg, she brought so much info! Superb job, best Angra react/review I've ever seen on yt! Keep it up!
Metal Academix, best react channel. Amazing Anamaria!
In My Opnion The Best Song Of Temple Of Shadows Is The Shadow Hunter, The Best Song Of Holy Land Is Carolina IV And The Best Song Of ØMNI Is Light Of Transcendence.
Angra: Time, Nova Era, New Born Me. diferent times, diferent singers, diferent sounds ....
kudos from Brazil for really taking the effort of going through the albuns

@@MetalAcademix Thanks a lot for welcoming me haha. I'd like to suggest the band Vektor. I don't know if it will be to your taste, but I love their songs deeply. Check the songs: Collapse, Tetrastructural Minds and Forests of Legend.
Carry on es uno de mejores temas de Angra!
Buen vídeo!
10:47 - I didn't even know that Kai Hansen was on this song! I thought that was all Edu Falaschi. But yeah this is probably my favorite song from Angra, but the whole album is a freaking masterpiece. I also love from the older albums the ''Angels Cry'' and ''Holy Land'' the first Angra singer Andre Matos had an amazing voice, his high falsettos were amazing, but yeah great band one of my Prog / Power Metal obsessions :) \m/
Im fron Brazil. Big Fan of Angra... and love the vídeo!! 🎸
Thank you so much! And stay tuned for more Brazilian goodness coming up in the next month or so! -Anamaria
She really knows about Angra. That's cool.
the shaman is also very good, it is worth making racts of this band
This reaction is amazing! A woman having the main voice and teaching the man! Uau, both of you deserves a recognition! Congrats
Glad you enjoyed the vid, Paulo! Michael and I have this system so that one week he selects a band and then next week, it's my turn. Sometimes we decide together, if there is a band both of us know and like, like we did with Unleash The Archers. In this way, each of us discovers new bands, and then we add the element of surprise and live reaction to music one has not heard before. We have loads of new music coming up, so stay tuned and, of course, rock on! - Anamaria
VERY good channel!
Very informative video. Epic band. TY.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the episode, and feel free to suggest other bands! - Anamaria
@@MetalAcademix Well... You probably reacted already to 'Ghost Love Score' with Floor Jansen from Nightwish in Waken Open Air, THE mandatory reaction for recorded reactions on UA-cam. lol. But if you mean other south american bands I don't know much more than Angra, Shaman and Rata Blanca. But I've recently discovered Opeth from Sweden. And have been listening more to progressive metal like Queensryche and Dream Threater. Old but gold. Regards.
We are a bit different than other reaction channels in that we don't really do single songs. We either have battles of bands (we compare two or three versions of the same song in different interpretations) or band reviews (like Angra's).
We did talk about Shaman, in case you are into them: ua-cam.com/video/0agINtvoxRs/v-deo.html
And Rata Blanca is a band many habve suggested, so we should definitely look into them. - Anamaria

Not quite Angra, but we have a new reaction to Shaman - perhaps you'd also enjoy it. ua-cam.com/video/0agINtvoxRs/v-deo.html
Omg! I'm brazilian, don't fancy Angra but I'm astonished by this girl knowledge. God job guys. Got a new subscriber. Cheers from Brazil

Parabéns, ótimo vídeo...........Brasil.......................
I sugest Viper (first band of André Matos) and Symbols (first band of Eduardo Falaschi).
It would be nice to see you, lady, talking about the new Sepultura's album: Quadra.
Great video ! I'm from Brazil and Angra is amazing, I'm really happy that you enjoy the songs. Another excellent brazilian metal band is Hibria.
Hibria, Luiz Paulo, is a great discovery for me. Up until now I have not heard of it, but yes - they are GOOD! Thank you, will give them a thorough listen! - Anamaria
Great react video from my favorite band. Long live Angra! My suggestion for a next video is 'Caligula's Horse', a great prog act from Australia. I recommend a song called 'Graves'.
I like the name, Caligula's Horse. Someone in the band must have read their history of Roman emperors, of which Caligula was definitely one of the most excentric to put it mildly. If the music lives up to the name, it will be a top 💯! Anamaria
Love these woman
The research about the band who the girl did was impressive, a quite correct. The only flaw, is about the one who discovered Brazil, but that is ok, nobody need to know everything!
Subscribed!
Thank you so much! I will have to go through the film and check what I said about the person who "discovered" Brazil, I don't think I have said Columbus but maybe I did say that, the horror! I have now learned the correct name, so that is knowledge gained! - Anamaria
incredible band, I loved the reaction of this woman, excellent!
Many thanks, 🎸⚡💪✨🔥! - Anamaria
I already liked this video only for the respect and awe she shows explaining the band! 🤩
Thank you so much 🙏 - Anamaria

I'm impressed with that exactly knowledge of one of the greatest metal bands of South America. You've got a new subscriber. I'd like to suggest some of Shaman because because I think there is the best work by André Matos on the vocals and we are still very sorry for his passing, but he'll never be forgotten. Descanse en Paz, Andre Matos.
Thank you for the kind words! Shaman may be coming up a bit later, definitely music that showcased Andre's impressive range! - Anamaria

Great to know that Angra digged so deep into you! Their story is really great. I would recommend you to listen to Shaman, an amazing brazilian band that Andre Matos formed after he left Angra with two former members aswell, Ricardo Confessori (drums) and Luis Mariutti (bass).

Good reaction! Please check Angra's new song "Ride into the storm", it's the 1st single for their upcoming album. It's great!
São André... 🤘😔
Nobody mentions that Fabio Lione looks like the metal version of Weird Al.
well i love angra, love all their vocalist. for me their music was all my youth. Love from Indonesia
It's fantastic to hear that Angra has a worldwide fan base, from Sweden to Indonesia and everywhere in between.
Which other metal bands were/are you into? Simply curious about musical tastes in other context than mine. - Anamaria
@@MetalAcademix sure, their music absoloutly fantastic ana. I love power metal. so yes, its angra, helloween, rhapsody of fire, and galneryus. recently i hear unlucky morpheus, pretty good too, their vocalist yuki's can soaring the skies through her voice LOL
I love Angra so much, I think she might be my soulmate 😅
I have suggestion power metal band Lovebites \ Holy War live 2020 @ they had common tour with Dragonforce last fall 2019 all over UK

Only one correction, in the first clip isn't Angra, actually that is a solo project from Edu Falaschi, called "Temple of Shadows". The only other ex-Angra member in that formation its the drummer, Aquiles Priester.

Fantastic work, but why not pick Carolina IV for Holy Land album? As much as I love Nothing to Say, Carolina is a masterpiece. Maybe my favorite angra song.
Anyway, just a normal fan complaining because thats what we do, right? Hahaha. :)
Just kidding. Excelent video. Excelent work. Congratulations to you guys.
There are several reasons, besides me liking Nothing to Say, that spoke in its favor. One, it was a song that all three lead singers played, two, it was a song that all of them played live so I could get similar footage for my fan video and three, Carolina IV is so well reviewed, I wanted to highlight a different song from that album.
Thank you for your support! - Anamaria
Melhor banda ever
Muito bom!
Just to point, you sayed Omni right the first time. Its latim for everything.
Greetings from brazil! What an amazing video. You should react and review a band called Opeth. They had 3 differents phases like Angra haha. First a death metal phase, later a progressive metal one, and now just progressive rock. It's a nice band, hope you enjoy :)
Thank you! Opeth is a Swedish band, so I knew about it, but didn't follow their evolution (mostly knew their earlier styles). Maybe their current set-up is more attractive to my ears - will give them another try. - Anamaria
Great video of my favorite band. Please react to Shaman too. #ripAndreMatos
Gustavo, Shaman is here! Check it out and let us know what you think - ua-cam.com/video/0agINtvoxRs/v-deo.html!

Loureiro* lol
ADIASTASIA:
Another underrated band from Brazil is Adiastasia. Please, react to their song Father of Light.
Please girl, educate us! You're amazing.
IMHO Holy Land is their best and most creative album by far. Carolina IV is a masterpiece.
For some less known Brazilian bands:
Noturnall (Angras drummer was there)
Vandroya
SoulSpell
Tuatha de Danann
Thank you for the recommendations, I just looked very briefly at SoulSpell and it looks like a very interesting project, with many known musicians involved and a great concept. It also makes me think again about the strong connections between metal and games. - Anamaria
It is helpful to emphasize that SOULSPELL is a Metal opera in the style of AVANTASIA, employing different singers, so that adds unexpected twists and overall freshness into play. Whoever "digs" this kind of collaborative metal fiesta, is in for a treat!
Btw, would it be to early to feature some AYREON? Admittedly it is based more in the classic rock than all-out Metal (metal enough!), but it aims at more - a very creative fusion of all these classic and Prog influences into an own entity, where the connecting story (and recurring themes) only add to the impact. AYREON is an institution, and the most amazing vocalists in all world of Metal have sung for the project. Bruce Dickinson... James LaBrie... Floor Jansen... you name them, there's a good chance they've been on there.
The scene thrash on Br
