There are lots of comments mentioning Technical difficulties from Race-X. Just to clarify, this riff was recorded in 1995, released in 1996 ( Album Holy Land) while the Racer-X one was released in 1999.

This song is much difficult than that song.
I love both these songs and played them on guitar and never made the connection that they sound similar...With that said, Nothing to Say's riff is much more intricate.
Paul had technical difficulties on one of his VHS videos in 1994 and called it “metal dog” - the name changed but the basic riff was there - search for it you can find it on UA-cam...im sure it’s just a coincidence tho it’s a very common riff in metal, if you tried you could find 100 songs with a similar riff in it. Other than this vague similarity, the song “nothing to say” is completely different.
Harry Callahan I just discovered Angra, never heard of Kiko before he joined Megadeth, and I keep listening to that song, it’s really good. I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of them before, they’re like a Brazilian dream theater, just as good if not better than the actual dream theater!

Que maneiro, essa música é uma das minhas preferidas do Angra.
Lembro-me de uma vez que fui na expomusic em SP passei o dia na feira.
E na hora combinada de voltar para o ônibus da excursão, eu entrei numa aglomeração ao redor do stand da Tagima sem saber o que estava acontecendo lá quando do meio da galera saiu uma moça distribuindo uma senha e eu peguei a última.
Entrei no stand e nos pediram para sentar no chão e aguardar, para minha surpresa apareceu o Kiko.
Ele tocou o trecho de algumas músicas e tocou nova era.
Quando terminei todos nós que estávamos assistindo começamos a pedir por nothing to say.
E Kiko, muito obrigado por atender nosso pedido!
Aquele momento foi inesquecível!

Angel's Cry and Holy Land are two masterpieces. Loved Holy Live too. The first Angra lineup had some incredible and talented musicians: Matos (RIP mate), Confessori, Bittencourt, Mariutti and of course Kiko. So much respect for them. Liked this instructional too. I am a drummer and in 1996 I was a teenager playing power metal with my band and my guitarist was struggling to find a way to play the main riff of Nothing to Say and had no clue how to do.. and in the main time I was struggling with the mind blowing drums intro. Jesus those were the years! (I can still feel the windy heights against my skin.. no, that's another album!🤣)

Me lembro de quando ouvi isso a primeira vez na sexta série, em 1996, e até hoje, 2023 é uma das minhas músicas favoritas. Acompanhou diversos momentos importantes da minha vida em vários sentidos diferentes. Ouvi-la é sempre relembrar épocas, pessoas, hábitos e lugares diferentes. Acho que vou morrer apreciando essa música.

Back in the late 2000's my cousin gave me a CD with Kiko doing lessons on "young guitar" I think. The moment I watched it, I knew Kiko was on god-level. I never got into Angra (although I do like some of their songs and didn't know Kiko did solo stuff) but when I heard Kiko was joining Megadeth.. that was one of the happiest moments of my life. Presently I'm getting into Kiko's solo stuff.

He was talking about himself in 95, he said young Kiko wrote this riff.
I'm not even a guitarist but this was the first Angra song I listened to when a friend borrowed me Holy Land. I still remember the feeling while listening to it. I was a young teenager at that time and I have never heard anything like that before, it was overwhelming and it changed music forever for me. It's still my favorite.

One of all my all-time favorite riffs ever since I heard it back in 1995. It has a very progressive feel to it but it's also very metal and very complete as a phrase of music (beginning/middle/end).

The very first time I heard this Riff I thought to myself 'this guy is a master guitar player and he'll certainly become one of the greatests some day'. I was not totally wrong 😉
"Learned" this riff back in 1998 with my first guitar teacher (a big fan of Kiko), after a year or so I was able to play it on time, but it was slightly different. Thanks for showing the right way to do it.
