Wife and I are doing 2 months in Italy this year, Sept-Oct, finishing off on the Amalfi coast. I've been watching hours of travel content and this is hands down THE BEST vlog on Positano, detailed but concise, with brilliant tips and lived experiences. Thanks Dana, From Melbourne Australia.
I've found the easiest way to get to to Positano is the bullet train from Rome Termini to Salerno which takes 1.5 hrs and hop on the ferry from Salerno to Positano for an hr boat ride where you get to see everything the Amalfi Coast is. $90USD for two (train and ferry included.
This vlog is beyond helpful and I truly appreciate all the advice. You are so informative about everything. This is why I absolutely love watching your vlogs.
Also for anyone looking for a less expensive option for transfer.. you can take the fast train from roma termini to Salerno. From there you can take a private transfer or you can take the ferry for significantly cheaper. This is much fast than going through Naples/sorrento.
You make some good points on getting to Positano but I find that the Italo or TreniItalia bullet train to Salerno from Rome is the most enjoyable train experience.. From Salerno you take the TravelMar boat taxi to Positano.. You get to enjoy the views from the water all the way up to Positano
Fun Tip: if you would want a shorter journey to Positano from Naples you can always take the ferry !! the views are amazing and the tickets are cheap and the ride is around an hour and a half and normally they do stops in Capri and Amafi so you can get a glimpse of the other towns or even get off if you want :)

I'm going there this year in September for my 10yr wedding anniversary. I must say your videos are still the best I've seen on giving advice & tips. Thank you so much!
Great job with this guide! I've bean to Positano and a lot of your suggestions are right on:) One thing I can add is that you can take the train from Rome Termini Station and get off in Salerno. There's a port right across the street, and you can take a ferry from their to Positano which is about an hour and a half ride. Best to get the ferry tix in advance. Nice to time ferry so you get in right before Sunset too and a great intro to Positano.
Thanks Monica! That’s a great tip. When we were there the ferries were still not operating for the season but it’s a great tip for high season travel to Positano.
we took the train to Salerno then took the ferry to positano. We found that to be a good option as the bus goes on a winding route and can be very nauseating. The ferry is very pleasant and you get a good view of the coast too.
I just got back from my trip to Positano, and we took a Marozzi bus from Rome to Positano! It was amazing and seamless! It’s €27 for a one way ticket, and it picks you up in the tiburtina bus station and drops you off at the Positano bus station. Takes 4 hours because there are stops along the coast. We flew into Rome in the afternoon. Spent the night there, got on the bus in Rome at 7am and were in Positano by 11am. Highly, highly recommend!
Really helpful video. I just returned from Positano and it was lovely, but think I would have had a better time if I had seen this video first. Problems I had were getting confused by GPS directions and going up and down steps unnecessarily and not ever getting to my destination. Her overview of the roads would have really helped me. Also, choosing restaurants is harder than one might think so I really appreciate her suggestions.
Thanks for the tips! This info is SUPER helpful! I finally took the leap and booked my first int'l SOLO trip to Italy end of Sept to the first week in Oct 2022!! I'll be on a solo group travel tour visiting Venice, Florence and Rome. Seeing the Amalfi Coast is a bucketlist destination so I chose to extend my trip an extra 2 days to maybe do a full day trip to Positano were I plan to hire a private driver. No way I'm dealing with the stress of public transportation...lol. I'd love to maybe even book an overnight stay in Positano and head back to my hotel in Rome the next day. So although I have plenty of sightseeing and free time included for my trip, I'd have to plan some things on my own. But I'm super excited. Got tired of waiting on others to travel with.
I have solo traveled in Europe several times, and I love it. Overall, Europe is very safe and very easy for English speakers to navigate, so I think this is a great option for your first solo trip! I hope you have a great time and love solo traveling when you need/want to do it!!
Thank you. Awesome tips. Love your realism. So much more enjoyable and helpful than the tubers that only put out their perfect content. It’s nice to see a realistic view.

Thank you for this great and informative video. I intend to go to Positano in May 2024 and is just fascinated with the city and watching every video I can find about Positano.
Dana, Excellent video. Very helpful! For us we find that when we are in Italy our cell phone carrier AT&T is best to use. They partner with Vodafone and we use it internet for $10 per phone per day. It’s worth it. Less stressful when traveling through different towns.

OMG so informative !! Once this Covid ends I want to go to Poisitano/Amalfi Coast and most of all Capri Island !! I agree shared transport is the best !! You just get in and all your luggage and it takes you straight there in stead of transferring to all these other trains and buses !! If you don’t speak Italian it doesn’t help and takes too much time and it doesn’t sound that much cheaper !!
this was great! cant wait for your amalfi coast tips. as another person mentioned, how to store valuables at beach clubs would be super helpful...thanks Dana!
Love watching this video! In your tips video coming up on the Amalfi coast I would like to know if there are days of the week that are better or if certain things are closed when doing the day trips. I know weather is a factor with taking the ferry. Thank you!

Hi Dana, I’m not sure if you have a video on this but what do you recommend in terms of euros? We want to use ours credit cards but also have cash on hand as well. Any idea on where exchange rates are better? Thanks in advance!
I've been to Sorrento a couple of times now and have not made a video on it because I only spent a night or two there during the times that I have visited.
@@DanaBerez gotcha. What did you think when staying there? Do you think if picking a home-base place to stay you would pick Amalfi over Sorrento? Also how many days do you recommend in capri? Is it worth it to spend the night there?

Wonderful tips! Thank you. Can you recommend a boat tour for our family of 3 that goes from Positano around the Amalfi coast and goes in a Grotto, offers a swim and doesn't cost an arm and leg!? Thank you.
Dana Thank you for posting this awesome video. You mentioned in one of your Positano videos about traveling from Rome to Positano. Hi Dana, do let us know how you searched/arranged a covid test to reenter the states. we will be looking for a testing sight in naples. thanks again!!!
Positano. However, Amalfi is a good place to base yourself also if you would like to explore both ends of the coast i.e Vietri Sul Mare, Salerno. Sorrento is also the first town on the coast and very affordable a lot of ferries also will go anywhere along the coast as well as the island of Capri.
Hi Dana, I’m going to Positano this summer and I’m definitely wanting to pay for the beach clubs while I’m there.
