i was 17 and was just hanging out with my buddies on a free ticket did not know nor care about phish. Then Fluffhead happened and everything changed. It crazy to be able to see that moment. It's worth every penny since to be sure. Thanks for the ticket Kevin!
I was at Went, Lemon Wheel and It. I remember the Glider, the Burning man, the amazing wind bellowing tarps, the glow stick wars, incredible drum circles. Its all melted together.
Do you guys remember at the end of this set when there was a fuse that was lit and went all the way to the stage and lit up the man made elephant that started marching out of the concert grounds and everyone started following this elephant thing out. Was a brilliant way to get people out of the concert grounds after that set. That place was so awesome after the show. I remember walking around for hours.
This was my 1st entire tour from Portland to Maine it's was the end of my first serious relationship and I've never fully recovered but hey that's why I write.
Whenever I hear this jam it takes me right back to the summer of 99 and watching these guys absolutely destroy one chord for 20 minutes at various outdoor concerts all up and down the Eastern seaboard. Pure joy in those moments
I was at The Great Went, but The Lemonwheel.....man did they have their shit together. This is the weekend that made me a phish fan for life. And that Ghost....fucking stellar.
I was there, what a fun fest :) lol back then we communicated on walkie talkies or in person or wrote letters lol stuff sure has changed. I used to get so psyched to pick up a show on analog tape maybe six months after it happened.
Our gassy farts were pure murder on the people around us as we waited for this set. They were all sitting, so we decided to stand. Then we let the cropdusting begin. Anyone who remembers the absolutely horrible porta potty situation at this Festival knows that almost nobody took a dump that last day. Never mind all the rolls and lot food and booze that created an absolutely horrid intestinal concoction, the fumes from which were slowly released on unsuspecting people whose heads were exactly parallel to our bombay doors. The looks on my brother's (r.i.p.) face and our buddy Mike Cox, as the three of us administered the flatulent punishment is playing in my head right now like a movie. Ah, God, thank you for this music right now as it is bringing me right back to that night and those moments. The cool weather, the trees around the concert field, the huge stage with the black curtains behind it, the absolute sea of people there along the runways, the food and beer garden off to the right of the stage. And the toxic farts.
Pinnacle of this whole weekend might be Fishman singing Sexual Healing. Just listened to the whole weekend including soundcheck for the first time over the last 2 days. Will be doing it again soon.
I like jams like the one around 40 minutes in but never was a glowstick war fan. Friend got a black eye from one at a show somewhere. And if always get this feeling like Trey hated it. Like I'd be on mushrooms and feel like I could read Trey's mind and that he was getting pissed. Sometimes he'd be up there dodging them Edit. Rings were fine. If everyone woulda just used those the would have been zero problems
Finally, I thought I had found someone who has a worse voice than mine. My wife, though, soon corrected me. "Fish still has a better voice than you, honey, sorry." Dammit! The search continues.
Sick ass festival but hella far , worth it, especially instrument set. It was a great way to end my 1st full tour, 150+shows later and I'm sure they're waiting for the time when they can finally say that this has been all been wonderful and now they're on their way....
+argh brains Thanks! I had seeded the FM source years ago. When I dug up the VHS tapes, I pulled out the FOB and mixed it with the FM to give the whole thing a more realistic feel to match the video. Did you hear the glowstick hit the FOB mics at 42:06?
Why can't these people ever figure it out. YOU DONT NEED TO ZOOM on whoever is singing or soloing. Just put the damn camera on sticks and keep a static of the whole stage. Great show. Unwatchable video
Security was crazy that weekend ! There was limited use of the taping booth . I had all my camera equipment seized along with a bunch of other people, so the fact they were able to get any footage at all is a blessing ! Thanks for who ever recoded this !
I remember everything about this day. This is the absolute, number one set of live music I've had the pleasure of witnessing in my life thus far.
One of those damn-close-to-perfection sets and nights. A happy place I return to in my mind...
I feel that way about IT. Limestone always had great vibes. Its almost like a dream to me.now.

One of the better Phish vids on YT...
I was at Went, Lemon Wheel and It. I remember the Glider, the Burning man, the amazing wind bellowing tarps, the glow stick wars, incredible drum circles. Its all melted together.
Good times.
Ghost glow war that erupts at 40 min mark is the straight goods. What a life-changing weekend.
I agree. Video doesn't do the glow stick war any justice. It was amazing.
this one and the hood from the went were both insane

still gives me goosebumps
Best set of live music I've ever witnessed
I did my first mini-tour that summer, starting in Merriweather thru the Lemonwheel. Oh my fucking God.
This was my 1st entire tour from Portland to Maine it's was the end of my first serious relationship and I've never fully recovered but hey that's why I write.

Also This Fluffhead after That Ghost is some serious setup. Wrapping up with This Antelope is what is so sublime about these fellas in the late 90's.

Favorite of all Time!! Oh and Big Cypress!
What a Ghost! Those last 5 minutes got me good!
Sick Ghost. Dinklage on the kit/fat snare.

Dave you are my hero. Original video taper was Kevin Bowling!
I think we all took a turn on this show. Kevin did all of set 1, I think. We split set 2, and I did most of set 3. Team ED and Utta Patoota!
@@drbracken73 you are a champ

Thank you for sharing this ✌️✌️✌️
with the party that this place was I'm surprised anyone could lug a "huge" VHS camera around. Very cool weekend after the cover tour
It wasn't a VHS cam. It was a hi8mm, and it was small enough that we could get it in past security. Pretty easy, actually.
Thank you !
I was there too. Great times
