I remember pushing myself to the front during the set right before this jam. When they started this they lit candles onstage, I could be wrong but I think they dedicated it to a Phish fan who had died or something like that....man, summer of 98', Phish, Maine, such great memories..
Love to all of you. Rich's energy and memory carries on with us through this jam. Very thankful for everything that lead to this songs existence. It has brought me much thought and rest. 💛
The change that begins at around 7:30 (and continues to develop) is pure bliss for me. I have incredible memories of making that trip from Nashville with my future wife and best man at our wedding.
What a trip this was. I remember just laying in the grass for it, letting it wash over me, after a third set where I really "got it" during that Antelope.
this is one of the most incredible jams ever produced, not even specifically pertaining to phish. i love the energy in the thick of it after they dabble around to see what works. without a doubt the ending "popcorn" styled jam (aka heavy staccato rhythm) is the best way to wrap it all together before the eventual fade. thank you so much for posting this, i'm glad someone finally did.
Wow thxs for posting this! It was such bliss to be there with N8 the great (RIP) and wonderful people we met(esp the two lovely girls, you know who you are)...Love
My fav will always be the Went but this was epic....me and my buddy were amongst the last to leave the field during and after this....spun and drooling for more. Good times JW!
From the Flatbed jam to the Storage jam, Phish late night festival jams are some of my absolute favorite music moments. An hour of jam, who does that outside of a rehearsal space? These guys do it and make the entire thing enjoyable to listen to. That's just not possible...
Cool, I am the 60,000th viewer of this upload. That was the estimated number of festival attendees! What great memories and we’re coming up on 20 years
Pretty sure this audio is from the D. Greg Schoeps FOB source. Listen for the big moment where the guy wearing the stealth mic hat gets dialled all the way in by the jam & passes out on his feet - the rest of the crew caught him and held him up til he snapped out of it. On a close listen you can just hear the soundscape shift a bit. No I won't tell you when, but yes it's a true story.
I had to make a tough decision on this. I chose to stay home and prep for College soccer preseason. I knew if I went to this gig I'd be trying to recover during the first preseason days. I'd like to think I made the right decision, but to this day I'm not so sure!
Nathan Glass haha! Great post, i skipped many senior yr HS soccer pre season 1998 to go. I remember telling my coach on the phone, "sorry coach, top priority of the summer" and laughing to my best friend who caught the reference. I also remember laughing about this to that same coach when I bumped into him at Phish Worcester summer tour opener in 2010. He still let me play and we crushed it..... Taboot!!!
I have it! Day one in particular is some of my favorite Phish of all time, I must have listened to it at least twice! jk like a phagillion times. I've never thought of posting it to the UA-cam, perhaps it's time I do! Do you want me to send you a copy? I was at all the Phish New England festivals (me live in Maine).
I have no idea how to do that. I was giving away hard copies a few years ago by burning them on cd and mailing them out to people who requested them and trading. I did that until I ran out of blank cd's. Not sure how else I'd be able to get it to you. I'm kind of old school and some computer data sharing techniques are still above my head.
copy the link to this video... then go on Listentoyoutube.com... Paste the link and download it into iTunes! I've been using that channel for years to "steal" music. It's wonderful.
Lemonwheel is probably my most listened to Phish CD out of all the ones I have... over the years it's always remained one of my go-to-favorites, particularly day one... Now if I had known how precious those CDs were, I would have made more copies... One of my favorites was Slave to the Traffic Light, I believe the set just before Ambient Jam. If you had that available I'd love you big time! Maybe we could trade, I just downloaded the Portland, Maine, Mansfield, MA and Hartford CT shows. Either way thanks for sharing this jam, I remember being there! Means a lot
The fact that this exists in our lifetime is miraculous. So blessed to have The Phish from Vermont.
We sat down after the second set..woke up somewhere in the middle of this surrounded by the glow all the lights. It was otherworldly.
The phish from vermont may be the best thing to have ever come into my life.
the candles there on stage...mind blowing...the noodling around...no singing...it was spiritual...on such a different level, straight up

Great memories!
It was my brother, he passed away on his way to Vernon Downs.
Love u Rich. Miss you every single day brother.❤️

now this brings back memory's. what a time. 18 years old and following phish!!!
***** Don't worry. I think it's sarcasm from Stuey considering he shared the video.
A year later........Indeed it was.
I listen to this at work. Perfect for keeping me centered. Especially around the type of people I have to deal with.
What a trip this was. I remember just laying in the grass for it, letting it wash over me, after a third set where I really "got it" during that Antelope.
One of my all time zen phish moments. By candlelight northern Maine. Surreal. Loved it then still love it now.
this is one of my favorite things that they've ever done.
What a great time to be alive, jumped on tour at Walnut Creek > MPP > VA Beach > Star Lake > Vernon Downs > Lemonwheel. Those were the days......
Patrick Dunham Jumped on at Merriweather and did the rest of those shows too. What memories.

My face is totally melting with this wonderful jam and the photo collage! Amazing combo of visuals and music! Phish 4ever!

I was there for this concert....it was sooooooooo awesome
this was AMAZING! wish I could go back to that moment right this second... I love this form of Phish
My fav will always be the Went but this was epic....me and my buddy were amongst the last to leave the field during and after this....spun and drooling for more. Good times JW!

Love the Odd Couple (almost) tease near the beginning...
My favorite part of this entire jam falls somewhere in that 29:00-32:00 section.
i agree but also past 32:00 a few minutes oh man
Just told some buds the 30:00-31:00 mark is beautiful. Some of my favorite Phish.
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT! Tis pure bliss. My personal favorite part as well. I wish I could figure out how to put it on repeat..
When will Phish put on their next epic festival? It’s been so long!
Does Mondegreen count? 😁
I woke up in a daze thinking I was another person.
You got it. I won't be home until Tuesday. So I may not be able to mail until Thursday.

Anybody know?
Chris Kirshbaum telluride town park in telluride, co
Ahh. Are you still being a sweetheart and sending other Phish lovers a copy of this?? ;) I would LOVE one if it isn't too much trouble, of course. :)
Sweet. Yes I'd love a copy. Can I send you a blank CD?
Anyone have some headphones i can borrow?
