1) Gutter Ballet 2) Hall Of The Mountain King 3) The Wake Of Magellan 4) Sirens 5) Dead Winter Dead 6) Streets 7) Handful Of Rain 8) Edge Of Thorns 9) Power Of The Night 10) Poets And Madmen 11) Fight For The Rock * Fantastic band. They exceeded in every genre they tackled: Heavy Metal, Speed Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Metal, Symphonic Metal, Opera. In a fair world they've as big and famous as Maiden and Priest.
Questy, maybe idea for the next video: how often do you listen to your favorite bands in comparison to new music? And how do you find the time to listen to it? Because Im struggling to find time to listen to music.
One of my favorite bands. 1) Hall of the Mountain King, 2) Gutter Ballet, 3) Dead Winter Dead, 4) Streets. 5) Wake of Magellan, 6) Sirens, 7) Edge of Thorns 8) Handful of Rain, 9) Power of the Night, 10) Poets and Madmen, 11) Fight for the Rock
excellent band they got a bit too experimental for me towards the end of the career but overall an amazing career and one of the greatest metal bands of all time.
I bought Hall of The Mountain King on cassette at a sidewalk sale for $3 in 1989, I was fifteen and it fucking BLEW MY MIND! So like you said I'm biased since I grew up with it so it's my #1, other than that I agree. The Sirens cover with the Ships in the Mist is one of the best album covers EVER, so mysterious, love it. Anyway the band recorded both the Sirens and Dungeons song all at the same studio session and it was intended to be a double album but the label made them separate some of the tracks for a later ep. I usually rank the two of them together since all of the songs are equally killer. Hey, how about a Coroner Ranking, they Rule! Cheers mate!
My favourite band of all time, love everything they‘ve ever done (with the exception of Fight For The Rock which I think is okay, just miles below the rest). My ranking would look like this: 1. Gutter Ballet 2. Streets 3. Hall Of The Mountain King 4. Dead Winter Dead 5. The Wake Of Magellan 6. Poets And Madmen 7. Edge Of Thorns 8. Power Of The Night 9. Handful Of Rain 10. Sirens 11. Fight For The Rock
Totally agree with Gutter Ballet. Totally underrated album. "When the Crowds", "Summers Rain", "Hounds", "Mentally Yours"... I could name every song on the album. Also don't like Streets too much. But you are completely wrong with Dead WInter Dead. 🙂 This is just a brillant work of art. Jon singing the aggressive roles, lie the weapon dealer and Zack singing the other roles. I've been to Dubrovnik on their national holiday, when they projected pictures of the war and the destroyed city on the church wall. I listened to DWD during that night and appreciated the album even more afterwards. A top 3 album for me.
Another great ranking! With the release of the new Wind Rose album on October 4th, that would make for a fun ranking. Not many albums as of yet, but I'd love to hear your opinions on the Dwarven metal masters.
I have to dive into their discography more. The only two I've spent any time with is Hall of the Mountain King and Dead Winter Dead. I love both of them. I love Rock Operas and I love Christmas - damn right I said it!
Awesome band. My top 3: 1= Gutter Ballet, 2= Hall of the Mountain King, 3= The Wake of Magellan. And the worst are: Fight For the Rock & Dead Winter Dead.
Got all their stuff on Cd and all the so far special reissues on vinyl. Love all eras. Seen twice and TSO . Saw Circle II Circle perform the whole of The Wake Of Magellan in 2012 amazing. Jon Olivas solo stuff is fantastic to
I've been a huge Savatage fan for nearly 40 years so it's cool to see that the band still get some well deserved attention even though I don't agree with the ranking here :)....To my ears "Streets" is one of the best albums ever released. The good thing though is that Savatage don't have any bad albums in their discography, maybe with the exception of "Figth....". My ranking would look more like this. 1. Streets 2. Gutter Ballet 3. Dead Winter Dead 4. Hall Of The Mountain King 5. Edge Of Thorns 6. Sirens 7. The Wake Of Magellan 8. Power Of The Night 9. Handful Of Rain 10. Poets & Madmen 11. Fight For The Rock
S: Gutter Ballet, Dead Winter Dead, Hall of the Mountain King; A: Streets, The Wake of Magellan; B: Edge of Thorns, Handful of Rain, Sirens; C: Poets and Madmen, Power of The Night, Fight for the Rock.
I think Handful or Rain is solid from start to finish with some moments of brilliance, while Poets and Madmen is mostly mid with some catchier songs. I personally would never put them on the same level.
Streets was honestly probably my least favorite album, I know some people love it, but it just wasn't for me for some reason - and I do love concept albums, I love Operation Mindcrime, The Wall, Tommy, and other concept albums.
I fell off with streets . Not great i dislike it .. i own physicals of them all but this .. I came back with magellan and poets which I really love ...the middle albums are OK not great
