I’ve never been a huge Iron Maiden fan, but I caught them live for the first time a couple of days ago, and I’ve got to say, it blew me away. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t the best show I’ve ever seen. I’ve never been this impressed by a band before, it’s honestly turning me into a total fanboy! Bruce’s stage presence was on another level, and the whole band sounded incredibly tight. It was an unforgettable night!

I just drove 6 hrs there and back, to see IRON MAIDEN in Baltimore my first time. Ive seen hundreds and hundreds of bands and MAIDEN is truly on another level. BEST live show I've ever seen, worth every penny, mile, hr, and having to go to work today on no sleep. My mom told me she listened to Maiden while pregnant with me, so I guess technically Ive listened to Maiden since I was in the womb. Best Band Ever. These guys dont need to still do this, they could be living their lives in luxury, but they want to be there playing until the end, they are the greatest example of what metal should strive to be. Im done..UP THE IRONS
Have to say it REALLY shows that you are a true maiden fan. Still life has always been a highly underrated song. So glad someone has finally called out "Heaven can wait"! Its one of the very few iron maiden songs that i really dont like. Also, while the title track "Iron Maiden" may be a bit overplayed, its truely some of maidens best. Especially with Paul.
Infinite Dreams was on the original Maiden England tour of 88 😢 one of their most underrated in their entire catalogue. I agree with most of your picks, especially Still Life, I’ve always loved that song. My biggest disagreements would be for underrated Brave New World id go Fallen Angel, Dance of Earth underrated I’d go Montsegur or Face in the Sand and Final Frontier Starblind. Totally agree about the title track of Book of Souls being underrated as well, it’s right up there with Empire of the Clouds for me. I also think When the River Runs Deep is overlooked a bit.
Iron Maiden has been the closing song ever since gig one. It’s a tradition that will never die 😂 while it’s my least favourite song off the album, seeing it live is just an experience, especially with the Eddies they have these days haha
The Ides of March/Wrathchild (both songSshould always be played together) can´t be overrated. Purgatory is pure genius (Maiden fastest song?). On the other hand, I can´t stand the songs Run To the Hills or Iron Maiden. 22 Acacia Avenue is a marterpiece, I wish they played it every concert, instead of The Number of The Beast.

Interesting topic. The song "Iron Maiden" is still played live and it needed to be retired long ago. Still Life is killer and they never played it live. Back to the Village is amazing and they never do that live as well. I agree Heaven Can Wait is overrated. And Bruce consistently sings a bad not on the chorus. (And F# over and F chord). Seventh Son is pretty flawless. After that, I lost interest, though "Tailgunner" is a great one.

Looking at albums, I'd say that X-Factor is the most underrated in Maiden's discography. The poor, low-energy performances and the production are it's biggest downfall, but it's potential and unique atmosphere shine through more often than not. Blood on the World's Hands is one of the heaviest and darkest Maiden songs ever, The Unbeliever is an epic with imperfections but stunning moments, Fortunes of War is a stirring mood piece on trauma occasionally marred by a terrible chorus, and Edge of Darkness is as close as Maiden came to doom metal. Not to mention the first 3 bangers! There is a real slump right in the middle with Look for the Truth (boring), The Aftermath (BORING), and Judgement of Heaven (wtf is this nonsense??). If these were cut out and the performances were better (yes, the vocals in particular), the album would have worked, in my opinion.
"Honorable Mentions" Overrated: - Blood Brothers (TOP 1), as it's a good song, but so much overplayed live (From 2010 to now, they played it a lot) - Wasted years: I love this one, but it's kinda overplayed as well; - The Clansman: The band really try to make this a 'classic', but it's just not that good. Fun, but not awesome. Underrated: - The Nomad: they should've played this at Rock in Rio.. what a GREAT song this is; - Public Enema number one; - The prophecy; - The educated fool
I absolutely love Maiden and was gonna do a list but i found it impossible to do. I'll say this, their setlists are mostly overrated. So the songs that are played to death are overrated even though i still enjoy listening to them at times. The entire 90's era is very underated minus the overrated song Fear of the Dark which i'm getting tired of that one live. Virus would sound cool with Bruce. That Girl, Reach Out, Burning Ambition, Live my Way, etc of rare songs people dont talk about and Maiden never play live. Maiden are unfortunately stuck mostly on their 80's hits. Nomad from Brave New World underated. A Matter of Life and Death album is underated. I could go on lol.
For the Greater Good is totally overrated. The band keeps going back to that song like it's something special which surprised me because most of that album is way better.
After Brave New World they start to suck very much. Brave New world is a Masterpiece and the last amazing iron maiden album in my opinion. After only mediocrity and some bad albums too
