- Names of Manchester Arena attack victims begin to emerge
Many of the victims of the bombing at in the northern British city of Manchester are young people.
An improvised explosive device went off late on Monday as thousands of mostly young fans streamed out of the Manchester Arena at the end of US artist Ariana Grande's performance, police said.
Many parents in the city are still waiting anxiously for news about their loved ones.
Al Jazeera's Nadim Baba reports from Manchester.

terror attacks aren't that common. I assure you our current world is 100 times better than most of the societies before us. we are lucky to live during this time. there are dangers, but you are more likely to suddenly die in a car accident (1 in 600 chance) than you are to die in a terror attack. between 1969 and 2009, there were 38,000 terror attacks globally. of these, only 7.8% were attacks in America. since the 1970s, there have been 70 terror attacks that caused casualties in the UK. this number doesn't include attempted attacks or attacks which didn't cause casualties, but these are just as low. in fact, if you look up the trends, the actual number of terror attacks per year in the UK starts to decrease around the 2000s; lower number of attacks is a trend that continues to this day in comparison to attacks in the 70s or the 90s (which appears to have the most reported). you need not fear a terror attack; the occurrence of one is rare, and unlikely you yourself would become involved in one. the media is doing it's job by reporting these major incidents, but don't allow it to fool you into believing that it's a regular occurrence in the first world country you live in. terrorism is certainly a threat, but not in the way the media sometimes portrays.

Everyone here is talking about how no one knows the names of Middle-eastern victims, but can't we all agree that death is bad and even a few people dying is equivalent to many dying? I'm editing this because people are jumping on the bandwagon of empathy. As someone that served in the military and has known people that have been blown up, they get transported somewhere to be cared for- where they are stranded with no one but themselves just like this. What they need most is blood, you're underestimating the capability of the medical field if you think they can't handle 60 patients.

A girl at school named Jess went to the arena. She left just before the attack and at school today she showed a video of the people scattering. It was horrible. We won't let terrorists win this. We need to help it; now!

I'm sure this was traumatic for all of the survivors and I'm sure Ariana feels horrible and I wouldn't be surprised if she is upset that some of this might have been her fault. This is so upsetting and nobody deserves for this to happen to them or their loved ones.
