    My 2001 dodge ram has 75k miles. I'll do a 100k here soon. Bought it at 65k last summer.

    For 23 years old, that truck is in great shape, i remember seeing these new when i was a kid, the ranger and s10 couldn't even come close, always loved the starter sound and the colors chrysler offered back then, especially on the sport packages

      She held up pretty well over the years.. crazy to believe it’s 23 years old now.. and Without a doubt that’s for sure! I remember looking at several trucks before I found this one and the v8 sound and the color where definitely two big deciding factors for me to buy this truck! Thanks for watching!

    That is a nice truck. The bumper delete looks classy. I have a Dakota and made a video about it. I don't drive it everyday but it is nice to have a truck when you need one

    I always love the new content. Shout out all the way from Missouri. I've got an 01 ram 1500 5.9, that I've pretty much re-done. Couldn't pay me to trade for new.

    I own a 97 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with over 236,000 miles on it. It has the 3.9 engine. I have owned the truck since 2006. I am mechanically inclined, so I have maintained the truck, done all the repairs myself except for the exhaust replacement. I have no check engine lights and great oil pressure. Everything still works. The AC still works but has a slow leak that seems to get worse every year. It is still my daily driver truck. I have taken it from Utah to Iowa 4 times and never had a problem. These are good trucks if you take care of them. Personally, I'd stay away from the 4.7 and get the 3.9 or the 5.2. It is getting harder to maintain the truck as a lot of the parts have been discontinued.

      Why would you avoid the 4.7? Hope you don't mind me asking 9 months late lol

    • @technoir2584
      @technoir2584 3 місяці тому

      @@Subat0micR0gu3 I don't mind. The 4.7 is a Powertech engine yet they still call it a Magnum, they are a bit more modern than the earlier Magnum but not as reliable and are a bit more complicated to work on in my opinion. The 4.7 is notorious for having valve train issues, more specifically valve seating issues that I have seen lead to damage to the cam shaft. There are improved aftermarket parts to fix this problem. I helped my neighbor replace the lifters and it was a real pain in the butt. The earlier Magnum is notorious for having random or multiple misfires because of the lower plenum plate gasket failure. The plate is too thin and due to the constant expansion and contraction of the plate the gasket fails and leaks which leads to the misfires. There is a thicker plate you can get that fixes that problem and is not too complicated to replace.
      In reality I guess it comes down to your mechanical skills. Don't get me wrong the 4.7 is a decent engine when it is running proper and there are also High Output (HO) versions with increased horsepower and torque floating around. I wish I could find a HO version to the 3.9 but they don't make em. You have to resort to adding s supercharger and other upgrades. For me the Magnums are very reliable. Easier and more simplistic to work on and they are all practically the same with the exception to the number of cylinders. Hope that answers your question.

    I recommend doing the waterpump, they're notorious for failing and overheating the engine. I do mine every 3 years, seems worst on the 4.7Lt which is what i have.

    I have 206000 + miles on my truck, just recently had to rebuild my tranny, but other than the usual maintenance and a couple other minor issues I've enjoyed my truck. I was wondering, what do you think about graphics on your truck. Might be a nice touch.

    • @thekehmcrew
      @thekehmcrew  Рік тому +1

      I think once I get the truck repainted, I may do some sort of vinyl graphic on it. Maybe a bumblebee stripe around the rear of the bed and some small accent stripes on the hood. Possibly in a gray or silver might look cool

    I'm in the market for a truck and the Dakota is up there so you think they're worth buying with 160k plus miles?

    • @thekehmcrew
      @thekehmcrew  Рік тому

      I’d say as long as the body is in good shape with no / little rust, and if the fluids have been maintained regularly it would be a good truck. As with any vehicle, just depends on the price and what kind of shape it’s in. Mine just hit 109k and runs perfect. Good luck! And thanks for watching!
