  • http:woma.tv/ Dan Inosanto talks about meeting and training with Bruce Lee for the first time.
Guro Dan Inosanto discusses the early days with Bruce Lee, what training was like and how the school was established, and how he heard of his unfortunate death.
Inosanto teaches The Art and Philosophy of Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Shoot Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Silat, Mixed Martial Arts and other arts at his Marina del Rey, California school, the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts. He was an instructor for Ed Parker in American Kenpo Karate before becoming a student of Bruce Lee. Inosanto is one of three people allowed by Bruce Lee to teach his Martial Arts style, and the only one to be given Instructorship in Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. Inosanto also studied with dozens of martial art masters elsewhere in the United States, Southeast Asia, and Europe. After Bruce Lee's death, he has become the principal spokesperson for Jeet Kune Do. He has had minor roles in a number of movies, including the Game of Death (1973).
Always a student himself, he continues to train with many highly regarded martial artists. Consequently, he holds Instructor or Black Belt level ranks in numerous, different martial arts. In addition, he is well known for promoting the Filipino Martial Arts. He is responsible for bringing several obscure forms of the Filipino Martial Arts into the public eye and saving them from extinction. He has recently acquired his black belt in the Machado Family style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Mr Inosanto is a well-known, established martial artist and instructor. I wish he wouldn't have referred to himself as 'Bruce's dummy.' Perhaps the term 'Demonstration Partner' would have been better. Much respect for Mr Inosanto.

@@axelstone3131 I do not need to prove myself to you sir.. but I believe in God and before Him I did indeed take Jeet kune do. In Irving Texas 1980 to the close of 1982. Our classes were held in a YMCA at the corner of Irving Blvd and story Rd. I walked to and from these classes for the last half of my time there and ended up having to give it up because we moved to far to walk and my parents had split up leaving me with no way to get there.
It's not a good sign of integrity to presume things about anothers life you know nothing about.

Somebody needs to tell the truth about Chuck Norris being one of Bruce Lee's students but Chuck Norris being too proud to admit it. They need to tell the truth of how Bruce could actually fight and was the real deal like Jim Kelly and Joe Lewis said.

What immense charisma can do.....Bruce Lee. (I was a HUGE fan growing up). What gets me today is why the Cali MA community in the late 60's treated BL like some "MA God". They didn''t check his credentials (if he had earned black belets, was a a Kung Fu "maste (level)" in different styles, was he a national champion or HK champion, did he compete?? Nothing Yet M. Ed Parker had BL do his famour demo....ummmm...(scratching head)...He wasnt even a "MA mega movie star yet"....
Why would any one "follow" some guy with questionable credentials?? I wouldn't. If I would I would have instead loved to have tudied under a world champion like Bill "Superfoot : Wallace, Joe Lewis, Benny Uriquedez....guys that had been tested over and over against elite MA/fighters...undefeated...at last a Master that produced local/state champions....why wouldn't ...most of us...serious about MA...
But some "movie star"?? Who never competed and didn't have a single black belt?? There are hundreds of thousands of kids and 20-somethings with black belts...mediocre talent...hardly legendary...Bruce wasn't even that...just an over hyped personality...amazingy to this day almost 50 years after his death. THAT is what 's amazing about him to me...THAT is real genius self-promotoion...

Dan A inosanto is a liar. I met him 40 years ago and he told me openly that BLi was not a fighter but an actor and he never fought and he also said he was just a practitioner like himself . we were in MDR and cass magda was next to us, he was a student of ed parker and he never honored his own teacher but used bls movie fame to make living, bls son brandon lee told me he hated inosanto and stopped seeing him
