I think the image quality is actually really good. Yes it is highly saturated, but no blown skies, nice balance and the sensor does a great job at high speeds.
Orange colour is a nice alternative to the somewhat boring grey. Adds to visibility as well I would imagine.
The precision landing is the best I’ve seen in a mini sized drone.
Long delivery times are a bummer but hard to not put this on top of the entry level priced drones. I admit it would be nice to have an external charger like DJI or Potensic, but isn’t a total deal breaker.

I agree about the image, and about the colour orange is the perfect colour for a drone.

Precision landing worked great, although on the idaho quad copter channel, did you see the video where (I think it was the Fimi 2) it tried to land in the rubbish bin! Ha ha ha

I've had mine for a couple of weeks. The Fimi mini 3 is a feature packed drone. Video/picture quality is good but not great. It's good to see they have solved the uneven horizon issue.
Negatives include wandering unstable hovering when compared to a DJI. Poor range (600 m) and short flight time (22 minutes). Also the chip set cannot handle the capabilities of the camera...if you switch it to 48mp photos the drone is unflyable. Not great in windy/gusty conditions.
Overall I think the DJI mini 4K or mini 3 is the better choice. You'll have a better experience. Both flying and with after sale service.
However, if you are interested in a feature packed drone with no geofencing the Fimi Mini 3 is a good choice. The price is right.
Thank you ! So there goes my hopes of getting 5km range on this thing, it seems they kept the single cheap antenna from previous versions. Myself also noticed that the image quality is not on par with a 48MP/F1;6 camera and not above anything that I recently have put my hands on. The geofencing is a big deal to me so I am quite short on options.
I can get 5km range easily on 5.8G band here even in the city, the 2.4G band is not as good though in the city.

I can only speak to my experience.
Under the exact same conditions and location I get 1.1 km with DJI mini 2, 900m with DJI mini 3 pro, 600 m with dji mavic mini, 400m with Fimi a3, 600m with Fimi mini 3, and 800m with Fimi x8 se 2022 (special edition 15km range version).
PS. With the special edition x8 se 2022 why bother quoting 15 km if 1 km is not possible?

I am considering buying one, as the other mini drone I have - the Parrot Anafi - is already almost 6 years old and batteries always pose a risk. Can you provide some raw 4K 60fps files and DNG pictures that I can download and analyze? This would help me for my decision enormously.
Regarding warranty, yes it is a concern but I never had to deal with it when I had the Xiaomi Mi Drone 4K (back in 2017) and X8 SE (back in 2019).

Did I hear you right in the video saying the drone has a C0 sticker on it? Not that that makes a difference for you in the UK, but I am curious, as I thought I heard you mention it. But the Fimi Mini 3 is not listed among those with a C0 classification on the EASA website.

@@RobinDrones Well, even as the EASA site coyld be out if date, for a C0 classification, it woyld have to be limited to 120 m above takeoff, and be equipped with geo-awareness. I don' recall if that means geofencing
The height on the Fimi can be set to 800m!
The height of the Potensic used to be 500m, but i heard that to be able to be compliant with class 0, they needed to lower it to 120m. Which they did.
Fimi must have a fake label 🏷 which doesn't bother me as we don't recognise that classification 🇬🇧 yet....
@@RobinDrones well, there may be some hope still. Perhaps in the UK it's 800 m, but just like dji drones, maybe the firmware will adhere to C0 once sold in EASA... because it does seem like a fine piece of kit, at an attractive price.

I get this question alot, it's a hard choice between these 2.
I think most people will agree that Dji makes the best drones.
But with the Fimi, you get so many extra features and a slightly larger sensor.
I think if i could only choose one, i would pick the Fimi.
But only if you can get it cheaper than the Dji

I thought that when I ordered the Potensic Atom (very similar controller) but it's actually very nice to use as it feels more balanced in the hand due to the phone being in the middle. 😀
Pretty impressive drone! Lots of features! Good range and precision landing is nice! Picture quality is really good! I think with a few tweaks, this drone will compete with the Mini 2 or perhaps the Mini 3 and the Autel Nano. It needs obstacle avoidance! These days we need something that won't be pulled from the market by politicians. Thanks for sharing.
It will also let you fly up to 800m high! That's highly dangerous, though 😳
I would never fly above 120m unless I was flying up a mountain.
I'm on the other side of the fence when it comes to obstacle avoidance. I have seen so many crashes with obstacle avoidance. It would give me a false sense of security. Maybe because I've never had it on a drone and I don't know what I'm missing!

I Bought 3 battery version. I received on June 2nd with one battery. Waiting 5 weeks for other 2 batteries and still nothing.
It's not as good as DJI mini 3. Also if you get a bad one there is no return/refund option with Fimi.
I think the batteries are in short supply. My 2nd battery came a week after the drone, and I ordered a plus battery 2 weeks ago. It arrived today with the manufactured date 2024.06
To me, it's a good drone for the price, but it's not as "polished" as a Dji drone.
As for the after sale support, I can't comment as I've not had to use it. But I have heard from a few people saying it's bad/terrible...
Same problem of Fimi drones: every time the camera pans up or down(speedy left or right too) there are artifacts on the image. And the video in general is over sharpen and processed.
The big advantage is no DJI Fence or Fly Zones limits ...

Add me to the long list of people that Fimi reneged on their warranty too. I don't even think you're even dealing with a real person. The name Amy has been coming up for years if you look back at all the warranty problems. I have not heard of one good warranty experience with Fimi it's all bad. It's companies like this that has caused so much distrust of Chinese products. DJI Is great these people are literally crooks when it comes to fulfilling their warranty obligations
Thanks for letting me know. I've heard from a few people now with similar experiences. Surely they need to improve their customer satisfaction as if they don't, then no one would ever buy a fimi again. And they would go out of business!

I need advice last Xmas I managed to get my wife to get me my first drone not sure what to buy in case it not for me lol so I got the tyze tello and fast forward I mastered it now my problem wife has agreed to me upgrading its between dji 4 k basic ( wife not keen on me spending 399 on combo)one or the potensic atom combo trouble is I only allowed one I am troubled by the tube video of the atom losing signal is the atom any good

@@RobinDrones my DJI mavic 3 barely clip the branch and got stuck in a tree. Then fell from the tree. DJ I sent me a label the gimbal had broken and drone is about 5 months old. Even though technically that wasn't part of the warranty I was given two choices I can pay $129 and get a brand new drone on the care refresh or pay $65 for the for the laborr and they would not charge me for the parts to repair and recalibrate the gimbal. They offered me that choice so I could keep my care refresh option in case something catastrophic happened in the next 7 months. They're going to fix it today send it tomorrow I'll have it by Tuesday. The total turnaround would be 8 days and for those days are weekends
Yes, I have heard many good stories about dji and their care refresh 👍
That's half the reason most people choose a dji because they have exceptional after sale service 👏
Which DJI model is equivalent to these drones?
I'd say for image quality the dji mini 2 se, dji mini 4k and even the dji mini 3 unless your shooting in low light- dji should be better due to the larger sensor.
As for features, the Fimi mini 3 is better than the dji mini 3, 2se, and the 4k. I'd say it's on par with the dji mini 4 pro!

No, Fimi hasn't sent me one. I paid full price for my Fimi mini 3 👍
no one does how far they go before tgey disconnect and what happens when it does disconnect.
If it looses signal it will return home. You can even turn the controller off, and it will still come home and land!
Why we don't see it much on UA-cam is because they would be flying beyond VLOS and the UA-cam police would have a moan.
I don't fly out too far now. I've seen 2 emergency helicopters landing in the fields where I fly from-it's not worth the risk flying out too far.

I watched at 2K on my phillips IPS screen. THe footage was sharply focused. At the bottom edges the contrast in light and dark parts of the field would blur at little at the edge of the frame when you were flying quickly but it still looked quite good considering you didn't manually set your frame rate and ISO. I assume HDR was on by default too. The sky looked slightly over exposed but clouds were still clearly visible, and the darkest part of the hedges were a little under exposed but overall I'm pretty impressed with the dynamic range on show here. When stable the footage was immaculate. I'd love to see what you can do shooting in manual mode using FLOG and doing manual colour correction in post production, as I find that gives me loads more dynamic range with my X8 SE. I'm very keen to get one of these X8 Mini 3's. I also noticed the horizon stays level as you rotate, that's something Fimi has had trouble with in their preceding models. Looks like a worthy upgrade from the sensor and stability control in my X8 SE.
Yes, HDR mode was on. I'm very impressed with the image quality just filming in full auto mode. I've not tried Flog mode yet, and to be honest, I've never done any colour correction on any drone footage yet....
You can probably tell, but I'm not a pro when it comes photography and videography.
As for the horizon level, yeh, it seems decent 👌
Thanks for posting. My mini v1 is disappointing range-wise, it varies at max between 600-800m from different locations, even flying from a beach shore over the sea. Any chance you'd do a range test on this one, the specs claim an upgraded signal system to the v1 or v2?
I can't really do one here in the UK, but I have done a signal test Fimi vs Dji vs potensic.

What is the resolution of the image on your smartphone screen?
While flying it's 720p. You can download the videos from the drone to your phone. However, they download to the app, and I can't see a way of sharing them from the app. So the best way is to use a card reader plugged into your phone then you get the full size 4k videos. 👍

@@RobinDrones Definitely true. So far the Fimi seems like a better more advanced orange version of the Atom Some things seem very similar to the Atom too. Like the way the battery loads and also the gimbal protector. That thing looks like it would snap on to the front of an Atom and the batteries look like they could slide right into an Atom. You would know more about if that is true since you have them both. (I just got another update for the Atom this week too.) If I do buy a Fimi it won't be until after Xmas and after I have watched enough reviews.
@paulking7019, unfortunately, the batteries don't fit from the Atom. Also, I was out flying. I took the Fimi and the Atom but forgot the Atom usb lead that plugs in the remote. So I thought that would be fine as the Fimi one should work. Nope, it doesn't work 😟
I, too, thought that Fimi and potensic were linked in some way, but I don't think they are.
I'm going to hold out for the potensic atom 2! Hehe

The atom destroys it in range.. The range of this model is abhorrent to say the least.. If you want signal dropout from 500 to 700 metres then buy it..

To be fair, Potenisc's controller is the same as Fimi's, not the inverse. Fimi has used the expanding section for phone controller since 2018 on their full sized drones, and this one for the Mini since 2020. It's not a contest, but if it were, Fimi wins, LOL!! Looks like a fair number of improvements on the Mini 3 over it's predecessor. I am curious how it will manage a) Horizon straightness, b)overheating (an issue with their original Mini. Good first flight, keep the vid's comin Robin!
PS I loke your rendition of the startup sound. "aueuiup" - Its an ascending 4 note tune, but sounds like its overwhelming the little speaker with too much gain, lol.
I've not noticed any horizon issue yet, which is good.

Yeh, the start-up sound is weird. Just a small bleep, not too loud, will do.
@RobinDrones Currently no Fimi's. Had the Original X8 Mini, and my first decent drone was the X8SE 2020. I've also bought the X8SE 2022 V2 with Optical Flow for horizontal stability, at first it worked much better than the Ultrasound on the 2020, but then it got loose goosey (horizontal movement while hovering about 1 foot (.3 meters) worked perfectly, but that movement annoyed me. I got the Smart Controller as well for under $200 it was awesome. The V2 had a PA speaker, and dropper mechanism. By then I was spoiled with DJI gear so it went back for refund. Good drone though Mini 3 looks good. I guess if features is more important than Stability, DJI Consistent quality the Mini 3 is pretty solid. Nicer than Autel Nano (cheaper too)
Ordering one of these soon. Currently have a Contixo F28 and the Fimi looks to be better in every way possible. It's night and day how good this drone is compared to the Contixo.

Watch a lot of fimi mini 3 reviews. They all wander as yours was doing as you stated, "There's really no wind, but it's solid as a rock ". Connection seems a concern also, as your flashed red at 200meters? Why does no one use 4k/60? That might be the major selling point over the Potensic Atom, 4k/60 and the larger sensor, but to what end. I only saw one reviewer try 4k/60 and the image was breaking up so bad he had to switch to 30fps?
I must admit I've actually not even tried the 60fps yet! I must get round to trying it. Nothing beats dji in terms of signal strength but flying VLOS, I've had no issues with the signal.
My djis also flash red sometimes at close range due to our low power ce mode here in the 🇬🇧

@@RobinDrones Your color profile looked better than G-Man’s. The Fimi drones have never very consistent from one unit to another.
The footage looks amazing. Would you recommend this over the DJI Mini 3, not the Mini 3 Pro? Fimi seems to be very feature rich, more so than the DJI Mini 3.
If you are into photo/video/range just avoid fimi, transmission sucks and also the CPU on this drone will crawl if you try 48MP photo or 4k/60fps videos. It is more of a toy than a drone. I would go even with dji mini 4k over this thing.
I don't own the dji mini 3, but it's a tough choice as Dji is a more polished drone with a larger sensor-so it should be better in low light, and it has true vertical shooting but it's still a basic drone that will cost more than the Fimi.
The Fimi, on the other hand, like you said, is feature rich,
Waypoints that you can save and plan them before flying.
3 modes of tracking,
Timelapse,
Night mode
4k 60fps
SAR mode,
Course lock,
The list goes on..
But the main 2 things we should consider when picking a drone are,
Image quality and price
The mini 3 should have better image quality but is more expensive £429 add 2 more batteries, and you're looking at £547
The Fimi is cheap for what you get I paid £261 for the drone bag and 2 batteries and have ordered a bigger plus battery for £34 so £295
That's almost half of the price of the mini 3! With all of those extra features.
I can't really tell you which to buy, but I'd recommend them both.
Video looked good for me at this price point.
And I had no issues with the transmission.
But I've not tried the 4k 60 yet...

No, it doesn't, but I've not found I have needed it.
No obstacle avoidance works 100% I've seen someone fly their dji air 3 into a wall twice and destroyed the drone! You can't trust it.
They brought out a new 2 updates 2 days ago one for the app but also for the camera and it looks so natural in terms of saturation especially the green green grass is now just normal green❤

When i scanned the QR code on the manual, it says "add mini 3 SE". I bought a mini 3, not SE version.. is there any difference?

When you first open the app, you can just slide left or right to choose "mini 3" the SE isn't out yet.
As for the firmware, it should automatically ask you to download it after connecting the drone.

The manual says that a flashing red light means that the drone is ready to fly, but it just keeps flashing green. i waited 30 minutes and tried compass calibration and changing the antennas position, but still the same, and i only get 15 sattelites or lower, maybe thats the problem?
Also the app gives a warning saying "sensor temperature too high" even if i just have the drone ON for 5 minutes..?
Also, should i calibrate the compass, RC, and gimbal every time i turn the drone ON?
What is the flight time with the standard battery?

As for the jerky fpv, it isn't actually jerky when I'm flying. I checked my screen recording info, and it seems to record at 94fps. That's probably the issue with the jerkyness showing up in the video. 👍

So all of my drone footage is straight out of the camera, no adjustments at all. I actually have never tried to colour grade my videos, I don't want to go down that "rabbit hole"

Fimi has been going real strong lately. They are making drones for awhile, pretty good quality, and often cheaper then DJI's. I think you could say that the best beginner drone is no longer DJI Mini 2 SE, but the Fimi 3 now. They're making drones like the Fimi Tele and Pro. I think it's only a matter of time before we get a drone around the DJI Air 3. Biggest issue with the Fimi 3 is that they need to get their name out there more. I can go to the store and see a DJI drone. But not so much a Fimi.
I used to think Autel might eventually dethrone DJI's supremacy. But sadly they seemed to have moved away from the consumer market. I have heard that Autel excels in their thermal and professional drones.
Yeh I think I may have to agree with you about the Fimi being the best beginner drone! It's cheap, has all of the features you need and still has a very good image quality 👌
They just need to get their act together and put it on Amazon!

Video quality looks good but I can tell you the transmission looks crappy like any FIMI drone. I wonder if they kept a single cheap antenna on the drone, like with the mini v2 and 1. I still waiting for mine to get delivered but from what I have watched on the fimi I have a feeling ill keep my potensic. I wish someone would do practical steadiness test, transmission test ( every mini 3 video they try to hdie the choppy video trans ) and a controlled ( indoor ) image quality comparison between fimi mini 3, potensic atom and DJI mini 4k.
So the fpv screen wasn't actually choppy while flying. I think the issue was that my screen recording was filmed at 94fps!?
After rendering the video at 30fps it has made the fpv really look bad.
If I get round to it, I will make a video showing the screen recording alongside a camera recording my screen at 30fps.
So, while flying, it seems as smooth as a dji.
Good review can you do I video in a built in area so you can show the signal quality? does anyone else think the video looks abit choppy?

Yes you can. You can even set them up at any time, even with the drone not powered on. That's a great feature 👏
Has anyone tried connecting the drone to the PC via USB cable, its ment to load up a service menue on the screen according to the supprt..but it doesnt..

Yep, they must be, but I don't have any experience as this is the first Fimi I have owned.
@@RobinDrones yeah, the first version that came out were much more unstable, camera was always glitching, but this one looks good being that it's not expensive. I'm sure they're going to get better as they keep releasing them.
Does this company have good customer relations,?? From what I've read you'd better hope it comes out of the box in good order, for it will cost almost the price of the drone before they'll take a look at it.
I can't comment on this as I have not had to deal with them. I would have preferred to buy this from Amazon but not available yet.
I got it from Ali Express with a 90-day free return guarantee. So I just hope I don't have any issues with it. If I do, I'll post it on UA-cam 👍
😂 you keep saying steady as a rock.. but then the video clearly contradicts that 😂.. its ok.. but its a fimi. I must say.. your colour profile is better than most.
It actually did look rock steady while I was watching it with my eyes, but in the video, it did have a very slight movement. It seemed pretty good, though. I was expecting worse. Yes, the colour looks decent. I actually prefer that look. That was on the normal colour profile, and no adjustments were made to the image at all. Good job on your videos about the Fimi mini 3. I've watched them all 😀
@@RobinDrones : Thanks.. It seems that consistency is not a Fimi thing. I have seem about 4-5 different "Auto" colour profiles on this Mini now. Yours seems the most consistent to a DJI product. Don't worry.. a new firmware update will stir the pot again.

Can you check out this photo showing the arm of the Fimi. The braided sheath on mine doesn't go all of the way into the body. It's a potential weak spot on the cable.

The same happened to me I ordered with 2 batteries. They sent the other one a week later. I think the batteries are in short supply 🤔
I have zero complaints about the video. Then again I am watching this on a Chromebook.
Pictures look good Robin Sony sensor excellent.
It's surprising, good, and you can actually shoot in F log.
The video was shot on the standard colour profile of normal and auto exposure.
Also, there is no video editing done with the footage. It's all straight out of the drone 👍

they finally appear to have fixed the horizon bug after 6 years... but anyone with a model before this will never see the fix... fimi only bugfix current models
It's annoying that they won't fix the earlier models. It's the same with Dji in a way they could add tracking and waypoints to the mini 2 se, mini 3, but will they? No, because fewer people would buy the mini 4 and they would lose money.
@@RobinDrones exactly why when people ask me about drones I tell them to buy DJI, I couldn't send a friend to fimi because of the way they treat customers, I'm not suggesting they add features, just patch the ones we paid for that have never worked correctly out of the box, the ones that they have fixed and put into new models, which are just the same models with a different badge on and a newer camera sensor.
The camera gimbals the same so the code with good horizon could be back ported to the V2 and v1 to make it work like it should.
I really think for the buggy fw on that they deserve a class action ...
I think this will be my next drone. Look out DJI !
In my opinion this drone is the best bang for your buck right now! It has tons of features and has decent image quality coming out of its 1/2" sensor. It has its flaws but is very good overall!

I flew the same location with those 2 drones.
So the Fimi sensor is 1/2
And the Potensic is 1/3
So the Fimi has double the surface area of the cmos sensor.
Does that mean that it's twice as good.. no
But the larger sensor will be better in low light.
That being said, the image quality from the Potensic is very good, considering the sensor is very small.
On a bright day, both will look very good.
It's hard to pick between these 2

Yes, they are hard to find. Not too many videos on the Fimi on UA-cam it's all dji, dji,dji
I recently purchased the mini 3. The videos are of low quality, 48 MP photos are acceptable, unfortunately in 4/3, but with multiple shots you can then obtain decent panoramas in post. It's slow to download 48MP photos to your phone. Both PC and MAC do not recognize the micro SD card. It drives discreetly, it is rather unstable and does not recognize the base as precisely as the DJI, it does not have anti-collision sensors, the focal length is also fixed at f1.6. It should cost less for the construction quality and for what it offers.
Thanks for your opinion on this drone. We each have our own opinions.
I think it's great for the price. However, there are a few issues.
1. I couldn't charge the controller and batteries with most of my usb plugs! It seems it won't charge via pd charging- so no usb c to usc c will work!
2. The cpu is underpowered. I tried 8k timelapse, and the drone was unflyable as it was so laggy!
3. Downloading the videos to your phone takes forever!
On the plus side, I feel like the image quality is pretty impressive 👌
Flys well and hovers well.
I haven't had any issues with the sd card plugged into a Windows PC and Samsung tv.
As for having no collision sensors, you can really compare it to the Dji Mini 3,4 Pro, as they are more than double the price.
@@RobinDrones USB charging works but is quite slow. The 128 Fimi Micro SD is not readable on computers, I don't understand why. It would be much faster to download the files. Thanks for your feedback

Why did you put it on 4k/30fps and not 4k/60fps?
I actually still haven't got around to testing the 60fps yet. I shot at 30fps because there is really no need to unless I'm shooting fast action.

So I have purchased the Fimi today after watching this, as where I work all DJI drones are band (UK) as well, just wondering the RTH feature I know it has the 2 settings can u custom set it as well as in find a feature on the map and set that manually as RTH?
Ohh good question 🤔 sorry I'm not sure. You should be able to pick anywhere on the map to change your homepoint but I've not tested that yet...
Tbh this looks a good basic drone would like have one as a back up drone you explain it to detail

Maybe... alot more features. But the dji mini 3 does have a nice large sensor, but the Fimi also has a stacked cmos sensor!

Think Potensic video quality is not great. It's good but not great. Features wise it's really good though.
Maybe it’s just my eyes but the Fimi doesn’t seem to blow the sky details out as much as the Potensic. But it just may be me. Saturation does play a role as well so I guess it’s relative.
