    Void knights
    Successors of: imperial fists
The void knights are known for their humble beginnings as a small chapter of imperial fists who would paint their armor with extremely thick coats. They have since matured into a Noble chapter famous for using two thin fortifications instead of one thick one while creating barricades for the battle field

That’s a solid battle strategy. Two slightly weaker forts, one tanks the main assault, while the second acts as a fallback position and/or fire support.

actually, id have a cool rule for paint coats: if the paint is thick, add +1 to the save number of the mini but remove +2 movement.

I'm there with you on that one, I feel the same way! I'm not nearly the maestro that Overlord Duncan is, but it's because of watching his videos in part (other than just sitting down and doing it often) that my painting has improved markedly over the last couple years in particular. He rocks, eh?

@@MaskedRiderChris he definitely rocks. It really amazes me how he starts with just a bit of grey plastic and comes up with beautiful minis to the point that it is a bit incredible that they can end up looking like that but watching his process through this videos and the old community ones is enlightening because that way we can follow him and get something similar if not exactly right for now. So let's keep practicing, watching and following in hopes that we can be as good as him or almost as good at least ;)

I'm impressed that the old mini actually had some thought put into it. My first space marines were all olive green and black, because I thought they were just space army guys. I had no clue about different chapters and couldn't fathom why you might want to paint any of them red, or bright blue or whatever. When I learned a little more about 40k my favorite chapter became the Dark Angels, simply because I thought they were dressed the most sensibly.

11yr old me had the Cyber Sharks, a crusade force of several chapters, they became stranded on a remote planet.
With no hope of rescue all the marines integrated with the small human colony, becoming farmers , miners and fishermen, many years later they returned to conflict when a battle between Blood angels and Eldar crashed on to the surface of their world.
So the Marines left their families taking their sons as to form up the scouts (yes 11yr old me tore up the lore book like a rebel)
using all the salvaged armour and tech to form a new New Chapter they all had grey and black camo shoulder pads and a mix of chapter armour colours. They even created a Hybrid of Eldar and Terminator armour that worked and looked a lot like Gravis, atleast in my head (a genius before my time, Cawl stole my work) Though sticking terminator arms on eldar models isnt really the greatest looking thing....
I was happy for a year or so, until my friend Mr.C explained Space marines couldn't make babies with humans and how crap my paint scheme actually looked so i swapped them for his 2nd Ed plastic orks, they go re-sprayed into his Blood angels.
on my 13th birthday i joined the Dark Angels, 10years later 9 of the Repainted Cyber sharks and a Blood angel SGT returned to my collection as Mr.C needed drinking money and i started blood angels.

There’s a cute UA-cam comment, it has a lot of likes so it’s neat the top. That’s kinda it though

As someone that wants to start a WEs army with the Pre-Heresy color scheme, the tutorial is super useful for me.

Such a good colour schemes - hazard lines look amazing. Use hazard lines as the trim on the bases of all my Necromunda stuff - it's a great visual.

Hi Duncan. A while back, I commented on one of your videos asking for beginer tips, and you were kind enough to answer. Just wanted to let you know that I now am the proud owner of a small Necron and Space Marine force. Fully assembled, but still unpainted due to a lack of time, other projets and a shortage of primer in my local hobby stores. And it turned out to be a good thing, as I was going to commit the same error as you years ago and paint them with tiny size 0 and 00 brushes... Those minis should be primed today or tomorrow if the weather allows it, and I'm ordering some better brushes as we speak. Thanks a lot for your videos, you are particulary good at making the whole process of painting look less intimidating.

So 11 year old Duncan managed to create a Space Marine color scheme that makes the model look genuinely badass and intimidating to me, something GW itself has never succeeded at.
    Neat!

Nice to see you paint a White colored space marine, would like to see a White Scar miniature in the future.
And hopefully this video takes away some fear people have of painting white Marines, Sisters, Tau Battlesuits etc.
