People think it was Maynard's mistake, but actually it was Danny's that came to the chorus with a drum fill before it was time. You can notice if you pay attention on the guitar. That's why I say the only musician that can't really make mistakes is the drummer, anyone else sounds not so obvious. But Danny stills a hell of a drummer anyway.

"Of all the nights" at the 4:10 mark. He semi-dedicated this song that night to a fallen soldier so he was undoubtedly bummed that they screwed the pooch on the song's execution. Was totally Danny's fault, and that's hard to say as an unabashed Danny-worshiper. I had the VIP ticket package for this show in Charlotte and was also in Atlanta, GA the night before for their show there. Vicarious was a staple in that mini tour and these shows were near the conclusion of the tour so the error can't be chalked up to not having practice with the song. Just happens sometimes. Still both were amazing shows and an amazing 24 hours of wall-to-wall Tool. Odd that of all the great IEM audio of this Charlotte show (Tool Archive published the entire show recording via IEM shortly after the concert) that this song with the very obvious flub was chosen for the re-mix. Who's side are you on really, Tool Archive?? Obviously kidding. Keep the great content coming. Spiral out...............

Yeah it was Danny 100%. And +Wa-hey the band sometimes has no choice to stop. Infact its quite interesting to see how Tool deal with this fuck up. Danny fucks up and just keeps going. Thats generally what most drummers do so the others can just "reset" them selves with the beat again, but it gets even more jumbled up meaning they have to totally stop in order to find their place in the song again. Its not as if they _wanted_ to fuck up and stop. SMH

3:25 they are playing in 5/4. On the transition to the next section Danny does a 5 beat fill but starts it on the 5th beat so it brings the next section in 1 beat early.
Then no one knows what to do for a bit and Maynard says what are we doing.
On 3:25 Danny played the fill on 5/4 like he is supposed to but he started it on the 5 of the bar before instead on the 1 of the next bar. Shit happens And you cant nail every live performance, and all of the band recovered pretty well.

The end of this song with the rolling guitar and drums in synch is still one of the best endings to a song ever.
Things like this are one of the reasons why I love Tool. The video perfectly matches the song and makes the song fresh again in 2016

To anyone blaming Adam for the fuckup... just count to 5 an you'll realize that Danny's fill starts on the 5th beat, so that he starts playing the chorus on the 5th beat of the next bar, making him earlier of a 1/4 than the rest of them! Ofc Adam fucks up later, like everyone of them does.Anyway love Danny, he is the man.

I have seen over fifty live shows in my life some big names u2 , stones , page and plant etc tool is by far the best i have ever seen not the most polished but wow what a energy amazing
I saw them like 10 months ago and it was pretty awesome. I've seen them four times, the first was on the Lateralus tour and was of course the best by far. I kind of feel sorry for the young people who will never get to seem them in their prime. It's sad that Maynard can't even sing all the songs anymore. I guess everyone gets sick of everything eventually, and you can't beat father time. Maybe a miracle will happen and he will re-dedicate himself, who knows. I think he's just sick of it personally. Hope I'm wrong.
The lateralus tour? In their prime? Tool at the Christchurch Town hall before earthquake fucked it was pretty good. The Aenima tour. 1996. Opiate, Undertow, Aenima. Amazing. Raw, less lightshows, so fucking tight. Been to two Lateralus tours here also. Also amazing of course. Noticably not as tight though? Except for the song Lateralus that was super tight both times. I miss them so much. People dont understand ay!! I started learning, taking lessons, studying, playing drums from that first Tool concert.

1996-2002 were the golden years. Not a better show money could buy. It's still great for the triad of instrumentalists, but nothing like before.

Love & Miss Tool! Now that the henchmen have left town, maybe they'll enlighten the masses again and again.
So, basically the tour will be singing random lyrics through a megaphone followed with mid-song commentary on latest confusion and bungling.
no bro stop hating, i ve been to amsterdam in 2019 and they played it perfectly. Maynard can't sing like he used to but he's still rippin, the megaphone helps him a bit but even without it on the other songs it sounds trippy and amazing. Their sound is just phenomenal and I highly suggest you go to a concert before creating a false opinion. That mistake is just danny carey playing a fill in 4/4 instead of 5/4, it happens.
I was at the show. Listening to this I have no idea how I didn't notice the weak performance. They sounded flawless (even with the screw up) through out the whole show. I guess it was just the energy in the crowd that kept it up. But there I felt like They were flawless. They sounded perfect live.

Definitely, guitar sound issues that threw Danny off, even though he usually stays focused on Justin. He and Justin typically keep the time and then Adam follows suit and times up with Justin. As intricate and complex as their songs are it's a miracle it doesn't happen more often. I saw them in Cincy back in 2008 I think it was. You could tell they struggled a few times in some of the build up fills that lead to a musical "break" and a couple of the trickier time frames. But they pulled it off. Love Maynard, Of all the nights..." He keeps it real.

Man, I know it's fucked up but I can't stop laughing at this. That was brutal to watch. Lucky it was near that rest so they can re-sync.
This somehow taught me that mistakes are natural and a part of us. If even they can not avoid it, then ig we can't either. But the imp part is that we need to take back control of the things, that have gone out of hands, like they did.

That was kind of a sloppy performance by Maynard. And why does he never sing the final chorus part?! That's my favorite part of the song, at the crescendo, and him remaining silent a the end just kills it for me. Can he not hit that note anymore or something? He never does it live. I don't get it.
