    Thanks for the review Dustin. I have had the 16mm F2.8 for a year now on my XT-4 and it just wasn’t as wide I was expecting for real estate and landscape. Your reviews are always so detailed and I decided to buy the Samyang, I really love the extra depth the 12mm gives me.
    Needless to say I think I’ll sell my 16mm
    Your other reviews on the Sigma 100-400 and the Fuji 70-300 helped me decide the Fuj was right for me for a bit more fast action though my budget couldnt reach the xf100-400
    Thanks for all your great reviews

    Saw this new video on my feed immediately thought it was for my old favorite APS-C lens that I had on my old A6000 (Currently on a A7C), Was intrigued to see now there's an AF version.

      Absolutely. Getting those extra features is very handy here.

    Hi I got this lens and unfortunately if is much less sharp than the old 12mm MF lens, despite Samyang claiming they are identical optically. I thought I had a poor copy, so I returned it and got a new one. The same story. Slight improvement but still noticeably less sharp than the old manual lens. What is your experience there?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  3 роки тому +1

      Hi there, I've been a little undecided, myself. Standards have changed since I reviewed the 12mm F2, so I'm working off memory and perhaps remembering it as being sharper than it was. Have your directly compared the two lenses? The MTF charts look highly similar.

    • @Pietrach81
      @Pietrach81 3 роки тому

      @@DustinAbbottTWI thanks for the reply. Yes I did compare the two, on a tripod, same settings, same focus point, manually focused both and the new AF lens is noticeably less sharp. Either my MF lens is exceptional copy, or the AF lens is not as sharp as MF lens. A bit of a bummer as I had high hopes. May need to try zeiss touit 12mm :/

    Which 12mm lens model would you recommend today the manual or Auto-focus? Great detailed video!!

      I would lean towards the AF version for the practicality and weather sealing. They are optically the same.

    Do you think this is a good lens for the 4K60 crop mode on the A74...?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  2 роки тому

      Should be a pretty nice wide angle view.

    • @arnisbrown5848
      @arnisbrown5848 2 роки тому

      You'd end up with 28mm, quite a useful focal length and the crop mode in 60fps also gets rid of the rolling shutter.

    Thanks for your reviews, always a joy to watch. Recently bought a A6400 as a smaller travel camera and was looking for a wide angle lens. This will be a good pick.
    Quick side question; any chance you're gonna get your hands on the new Voigtländer APO 35mm f2 ? Would love to hear your thoughts on that one.
    Cheers from Germany!

    I just got this lens to go with zv e10 and the Chromatic Abberation is driving me nuts.I've never noticed it on any other lens before and it looks like everything is underwater on this lens. Anyone else noticing this and have a fix? thanks!

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  2 роки тому

      Hmmm, I don't think it should be as strong as what you are describing. I certainly didn't see that. I wonder if your copy is defective in some way.

    what would you prefer? this one or the 16mm 1.4 from Sigma. Thank you!

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  3 роки тому +2

      That really depends on the final purpose. I would probably say this one, as it is the more dramatic focal length and is more compact.

    Is the SamYang 18mm 2.8 the lowest mm lens that is made for Full Frame you can get for the Sony FE lens. Anything down around 11 or 12 mm that is not made for Sony APC because you have to always factor in the 1.5 crop

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  2 роки тому

      Samyang's widest lens for Sony FE is the 14mm F2.8, I believe. There are wider lenses from other companies, though.

    • @jbeats02
      @jbeats02 2 роки тому +2

      Rokinon 14mm 2.8, sigma 14mm 1.8, sigma 14-24 2.8, sony 14mm 1.8, sony 12-24 f4, and Sony 12-24 2.8 are the widest for full frame Sony with auto focus.

    is this better than the touit? and the 16mm fuji 2.8?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  2 роки тому +1

      Hmmm, it's been a long time since I reviewed the Touit. The AF on the Touit was pretty primitive, but the color would probably be a bit better. I'd probably choose the Samyang because of the price difference.

    Hi it's me again!
    today I replayed your video because I am still searching about an ultra wide angle lens for my Sony ZV-E10 camera for indoor Real Estate videography, another problem is in my country that I couldn't find any ultra wide angle lens also Amazon services is not available in our region I have to tell someone who's coming to my country to bring with himself what I want for my camera and I can't change if I order wrong lens.
    I need your help and please let me know that are you still satisfied with the Samsung 12mm lens with Sony ZV-E10 camera ?
    During searching about ultra wide angle lens I have found Samsung 12mm and Tamron 11-20mm for above mentioned camera but I read the review and feedback of the people whose using the two above mentioned lenses most of them serious complaint about problems of the two lenses now I am really confused what should I do which ultra wide angle lens is suitable for my camera I have used the Sigma 16mm lens and that is not suitable for my work now it's humble request to guide me if we compare these 3 lenses which one is good working with Sony ZV-E10 camera
    1. Rokinon 12mm
    2. Samyang 12mm
    3. Tamron 11-20mm
    ?
    I am waiting for your reply

    • @DustinAbbottTWI

      The rokinon and the Samyang are the same lens. Either option is a good one, though the Tamron might be a little better because it will receive automatic corrections for video in camera.
