Vital infrastructure like water, power and transport shouldn't be operated on a for profit basis with shareholders being the primary concern... That's incompatible with the best interest of all.
It didn't work with the Treasury in charge. No party is going to change that. There was a time, with Dominic Cummings and Boris Johnson, when there was an agenda for action to "cut the legs off the Treasury at the knees", and making senior civil servants responsible for their actions. But the establishment soon made short work of them for their effrontery.
Seems to me that this is the only party willing to take realistic, effective approaches to fixing the nation's issues. Notice how they are also the only ones focusing in on the working class demographic and bringing up taxing the rich. Those are good signs.
I don't disagree with some green policies but they are a pressure group not a party. I agree about the coverage though, the media like to report controversy hence Nigel Farage. Labour should introduce legislation to deal with media coverage.
I’m not sure it’s that they like to report controversy. More that they like to get views which equal money. I’ve seen a few green interviews and they have barely 1000 views and Farage ones with millions, so it just makes sense for commercial news channels to cover him.
Reform get more coverage because they are currently the third largest party in the polls and because Farage actually has some charisma. The cope from the Greens here is unreal.
Yet Reform have no elected MPs, their parent Farage scammers stood down in the last election and Farage has lost 6 previous elections. As for charisma, the Forager is equivalent to Marmite.
Wrong, the Tories stuffed the BBC with their people such as Kunsberg and Nick Robinson. The Chairman and Directors are former Tories so they would do nothing to help Labour. Sky is owned by Murdoch and the right wing media overwhelmingly supports the Tories.
Reform only has that support because of the media. They have a tiny grassroots campaign. The greens and especially the Lib Dems are neglected in the media quite heavily
National news outlets give basic coverage to all major parties running in the election. The additional coverage or coverage from commercial media comes down to public interest. The simple fact is a video of Farage will generate millions of views and a video of Lucas etc struggles to get a thousand. This is down to the public being more interested in what he has to say surely. Also Farage is always writing to Sky/BBC etc and actively trying to get on their shows and most of his parties money is spent on online marketing. So to some extent it’s a difference in how the parties campaign. Greens tend to be more focused on local campaign rallies in parks, while Farage is chasing TV coverage and holding press conferences. I’d say that’s down to him working for it rather than a press bias.
Maybe *perceived* public interest, which again is set by the Mail and the Sun. Being 'controversial' and inflaming opinion does get more headlines than future-oriented political philosophy developed over the long term. Saying things that are wrong but 'feel' right or indulge anger (eg Farage's comments on Leeds riots) is one way to be controversial if you lack the necessary scruples and are self-aggrandising like Trump. Peter Oborne is some corrective to this tendency on the right, but many are worried how to deal with the far-right across the world who pretend to be 'populist', protectionist, social conservatives but are really allied with authoritarians, neoliberalism and the super-rich. As well as explaining difficult policies to deal with difficult problems, honest politicians may need to deconstruct the self-serving motives of Tice, Farage etc. However, it's hard to reveal their true motives without playing into their desire for attention.

That’s not actually true, the conservatives have pushed that narrative but if you look at vote share rather than seat share the progressive parties almost always have a larger combined total than the right wing parties. The problem with this is that the progressive vote is simply more divided between multiple parties while the conservatives have only recently had that happen.
