But don't worry, that's not an issue if there was a supply chain attack on the device before you received it - then hackers already control the device, no need to worry about another hacker getting it later. OR if there is a rogue employee at Trezor, or the company is compromised somehow - then no need to worry about the other two issues. So what happens if the company ceases to exist? Can I just put this in my safe and forget about it for 10-20 years? Do you have to have the program to access the btc?
yeah, i just watched a video on that. the keys that are generated by ledgers are not company specific. so long as you have your seed phrase and addresses your coins can be stored even if the company goes under.
yes, the app might be not there anymore but you can go to any other wallet of that time and restore the wallet and the coins with your seedphrase (recovery phrase)
hello id like to ask a question. On 4"35 you say that the cold wallets are offline... but if you connect to a web app (trezor suite) or app as ledger live, isnt both exposed online having some kinda risk? im sorry i am trying to understand how this work still . if you or anyone could respond it it would be really helpful.
Hi Juliana, thanks for your question 😊 To make things clearer, Trezor requires you to physically press enter on your hardware to confirm transactions, so as long as your secret recovery phrase is stored safely offline, your Trezor funds should theoretically always be safe. If you want more info, here's our official Trezor guide: support.exodus.com/article/1114-getting-started-with-exodus-and-trezor. Hope this helps, and happy holidays! If Trezor wensite and company would went off completely & I loose my Trezor BUT I remember my 12/18/24 words SEED, can I still access my funds somehow? How? Many thanks to any good answers
Yes to #1 and #2. If you have your seed phrase saved in a secure place, no matter what happens to the physical device or the company, you will always be able to recover your wallet. Does that help? -Kris
So what if something will happen with any of hardware wallets like manufacturer error or something else. You will lose all you coins? Lol. I saw different reviews on amazon and some of this wallets have an issue with screen and loading.
Thanks for the great vid, Exodus is my go to wallet i just love the interface especially on android, shows the going price ,what you own as well as charts and more. out of 12 wallets i own exodus is my favorite, only time i switch is when they don't keep what i want.
Yes there is. When you set up your Trezor, you are given a recovery phrase/master private key which allows you to restore your wallet on another device. +davey
Hey Paul, great question. If for any reason your Trezor malfunctions or gets lost/stolen, you can use a spare Trezor device to recover your Seed Phrase. This Seed Phrase will restore your entire wallet on the new Trezor. Think of the Seed Phrase as the "Master Key" to your wallet. Anyone who has access to your Seed Phrase can access your funds. That's why it's critical to keep your Seed Phrase written down and stored carefully like in a safe. Does this make sense? I'm standing by. 🙋🏻♂️ -BT
why did you compare a 60euro model to a 200euro model ? It almost put ledger to a shame but once you look at the ledger x and compare (for example screen size, battery, connectivity cable) it's a whole different story

Any way I Can use Trezor with either one of my mobile devices? iOS or Android without needing desktop? This space is confusing. I keep deciding on trezor then ledger (cos it has staking for some coins I have) help lol
Hey Danny! I'm so glad you reached out about this. ✌️ Although Trezor isn't supported on iOS, it's technically possible to view your Trezor portfolio(s) on the Exodus Mobile app. I'll link more details here: www.exodus.com/support/article/1114-getting-started-with-exodus-and-trezor#trezor-exodus However, it's important to note that you'll have to first connect your Trezor to your Exodus desktop app to be able to view it on the Exodus mobile version. ⏩ Hey, I'd like to know your professional opinion - could you please advise? I'm worrying about the source code with Ledger because it's contrary to Trezor NOT open source and therefore not visible. Could there be a possibility to gain access to my funds/seed through a potential dishonest trap door? (You never know, and if there's just a 1 % probability - doesn't matter). And 2nd: Does the Ledger always need to be plugged in with the cable when I want sth. to look/send/receive with it or does it work remotely as long as it has enough charge left? Thank you very much for your help! 😉
Thank you for this content! When you say ledger can only hold 4 to 5 coins, but once you remove and add another one, do the other ones get deleted or you can always put back and see your coins in this hardware wallet?
@@accordionnewbie9872 but where do X coins go after you've uninstalled X app from the device to make room for Y? do X coins re-appear once you've reinstalled X app?
@@chewsd The coins are never gone nore are they actually "physically" stored on the ledger (of course). However, your keys are stored there. For example, your ETH-wallet always exist and has an address that anyone can go to in a block explorer. The coins never dissappear.
Hi Adam, they do not need to be charged. Screen failures can happen, just like any electronic device, however, they are not common. Moreover, as long as you have your wallet's 12-word seed phrase, you can always regain access to your wallet. -SS
Hi Exodus, Im wanting to use exodus to stake ada but can i store the ada on my trezor and still stake it on exodus without moving it out of my hardware wallet? or will i have to keep it on the exodus wallet? also if i store my vet in my hardware wallet, does it still generate vtho?
Hi Charlie 👋🏼 Right now you can only stake your ADA and VET (to earn VTHO) in your Exodus wallet without the Trezor integration. I agree that it would be awesome to have both capabilities, but at the moment this is not possible. I can take your idea to the Developer team though to discuss that kind of capability. -Sl
@@exodus yeah the less i have to move my coins off my hardware wallet the better, it would be an amazing feature, plus we can just buy it then send it to our hardware wallets for cold storage and simply claim our rewards. im guessing vtho would be hard because we would have to verify every transaction incoming.
I think there's a misconception here with ADA... You have to use adalite daedalus or yoroi interface but the funds will infact be secured by your hardware wallet. I plan on using daedulus with a hardware wallet
It is just a good precaution. I watched the coin bureau's video on hardware wallets and he explained it the best to me. He said keeping coins on the exchange is like the exchange giving you an IOU on those coins. They're to your name but not in your possession, (in fact, I took some compound coin off the exchange, and it actually COSTS to do that, they keep some coin as collateral) it's not until you take them off the exchange and put them into a wallet that they are yours no matter what. So say you have your coins on coinbase's exchange, coinbase is hacked and they take all coinbase's available stock of bitcoin. Now, when you want to take your bitcoin off the exchange, you can't until coinbase gets more bitcoin to give out. A mobile wallet is MORE secure but not as secure as a hardware wallet because it requires internet connectivity to access, and anytime you are on the internet you can be subject to a hack attack. That is why an offline, hardware wallet is the best for keeping crypto because even if coinbase/binance crash and burn 5 years from now or fall prey to a super financial hack attack, your coins will be yours and safe. And everyone would hate to see their favorite altcoin investment actually blow up to mega-gains just to find that all those coins were raided on the exchange they kept them on.
@@thewhitekirby3973 On the other hand, my Exodus wallet was hacked within four days of my using it. All my ETH stored on it was stolen with no way to get it back. Yet the crypto on my exchange accounts are untouched. No method is secure, and I learned the hard way, thinking Exodus was the best compromise between the possibilities of hardware failure/lost/stolen/forget password problems of a cold wallet and the lack of private keys on an exchange. That compromise cost me a lot of money. I had been thinking of moving all my crypto on those exchanges to Exodus because of all the dire warnings about keeping crypto in an exchange. Fortunately I didn't or all of it would be gone now.
@@techinrl9869 exodus is not a cold wallet though, is that correct? This discussion is about the need to move from an exchange to and offline wallet like Trezor or Ledger. I’m new so trying to figure all this out.
@@janeychejake That is correct. It is not a cold wallet since it runs as an application on your Mac or PC. The reason I called it a compromise is because it is an online wallet where you control the private keys. I looked at it as in between the absolutes of an exchange and a cold wallet.
@@techinrl9869 I see. I wondered the same thing, but intermediate storage isn’t worth the time then. The exchange is probably just as safe, or more so possibly, or the cold wallet at home. I’m sorry to hear of your experience, but thank you for sharing it, because it helps others trying to navigate the crypto maze. Good luck to you in future!

Can I use the recovery phrase from Model T on a Model 1 (I don't want another faulty screen which apparently is common). Also, since customer service seems non existent with Trezor, I was considering buying the Ledger backup pack so I have a backup and am not put in this position again. @@exodus I like the idea of a mobile app, but I have concerns with that being my only security wall into all my funds. Would it be more or less secure, on the whole, to travel with a Trezor hard wallet in addition to using the Exodus app? Thanks for replying
@@joshdaum If you have a pin or biometrics on your phone, that's the first layer, then they need to gain access to the app with a pin (hopefully different pin), that's the second layer, if you have a way to hide apps on your phone that'd be a good extra layer. I don't think Trezor works on mobile phones (I could be wrong), but it would indeed be a solid extra layer because they need physical access to BOTH devices along with all the pins and access to the app if it's hidden. i personally would feel pretty safe with just the app and no hardware wallet, wouldn't have a huge amount of crypto on there fr a trip anyway
Hi Zee Ze, The fingerprint is a digital one used by the developers to ensure you're using an official Trezor that hasn't been tampered with. You will only see this appear once during the installation typically. This is not a physical fingerprint you will use to confirm transactions. To quote the official Trezor Twitter Page: "There's no need to worry. The fingerprint is an extra check to confirm the firmware is signed by the Trezor developers. Also, Trezor itself makes sure it is an official firmware. If not, you will get a message that an alternative firmware is installed." -SL
Exodus has nothing to do with the network fees you have to pay when transferring ETH or anything on the Ethereum network. You're paying gas fees for the miners.
Hello Elisha! Trezor doesn't have "apps" in the same way that Ledger's Nano hardware wallets do. So, a Trezor can send all of the coins that it supports, without loading or uninstalling apps to fit in a certain amount of memory 🔒 --cc

I'm not interested in a Keepkey anyway as it doesn't meet my needs, but $18 for a usually $50-80 hardware wallet has to be 100% scams right? But i'm anxious because I don't fully understand how the assets get from the exchange to the wallet and vice versa. I'm also scared I'm going to mess something up and brick my assets or someone will hack/grab them somehow in the process of moving the assets.
Hi Jason, these are all very legitimate concerns. To move your assets from the exchange to a wallet, you'll need to send them via the blockchain network. If you're unsure of how to do this, our 24/7 support team be happy to help you through the process if you email support[at]exodus.io. With regard to your assets getting intercepted while you're moving them, this is not possible unless the attacker has gained access to the sending wallet, and drop the transaction before it confirms on-chain. However, this normally would not happen if you keep your wallets or custodial accounts secure. Hey Robert, The Finney looks like a dead project. They have not posted updates since 2018. I think HTC might have beat them to the punch, they could have had issues with manufacturing, a decent wallet on the backend. Who knows. I think as we've seen with the HTC blockchain phone, people are not interested yet in this type of hardware when they can simply and securely store funds on their phone wallets already. And it's not a substitute for a dedicated hard wallet. This will shift eventually, but IMHO we're not there yet. Nice find BTW and thanks for watching- Kris

yeah, i just watched a video on that. the keys that are generated by ledgers are not company specific. so long as you have your seed phrase and addresses your coins can be stored even if the company goes under.
yes, the app might be not there anymore but you can go to any other wallet of that time and restore the wallet and the coins with your seedphrase (recovery phrase)
I was skeptical about trezor before for its bulk size but thee touch screen seems enticing

Hi Juliana, thanks for your question 😊
To make things clearer, Trezor requires you to physically press enter on your hardware to confirm transactions, so as long as your secret recovery phrase is stored safely offline, your Trezor funds should theoretically always be safe.
If you want more info, here's our official Trezor guide: support.exodus.com/article/1114-getting-started-with-exodus-and-trezor.

So what if something will happen with any of hardware wallets like manufacturer error or something else. You will lose all you coins? Lol.
I saw different reviews on amazon and some of this wallets have an issue with screen and loading.
No. The wallet does not store the coins - they remain on the blockchain; the wallet only acts as a bridge between the blockchain & private key.

Which is best to use with binance?
What cryptos are on the devices
What happens in the event of hardware failure?
Is there a way to backup some key signature that can be imported onto a new device?
Yes there is. When you set up your Trezor, you are given a recovery phrase/master private key which allows you to restore your wallet on another device. +davey
after the life of the battery is expired how do I have access to my coins?
Hey Paul, great question. If for any reason your Trezor malfunctions or gets lost/stolen, you can use a spare Trezor device to recover your Seed Phrase. This Seed Phrase will restore your entire wallet on the new Trezor. Think of the Seed Phrase as the "Master Key" to your wallet. Anyone who has access to your Seed Phrase can access your funds. That's why it's critical to keep your Seed Phrase written down and stored carefully like in a safe.
Does this make sense? I'm standing by. 🙋🏻♂️ -BT

Do they need to be regularly charged? Do the screens ever fail?

There may be a couple reasons, but I hear you. The safer your assets the better, and there is no safer place than cold-storage. -SL
I have a tezor also. Good wallet but they seem to be a bit slow in adding support for new coins. Still cant put my ada, polka or vechain on there.
Really? I thought they supported ada
I think there's a misconception here with ADA... You have to use adalite daedalus or yoroi interface but the funds will infact be secured by your hardware wallet. I plan on using daedulus with a hardware wallet
Using it with exodus. No dice there
Many exchanges now claims 98% cold storage already. Is this personal cold storage really necessary and safe? What if the wallet gets lost?

@@janeychejake That is correct. It is not a cold wallet since it runs as an application on your Mac or PC. The reason I called it a compromise is because it is an online wallet where you control the private keys. I looked at it as in between the absolutes of an exchange and a cold wallet.

So is the Trezor wallet fingerprint entry purchase or exchange?
Hi Zee Ze, The fingerprint is a digital one used by the developers to ensure you're using an official Trezor that hasn't been tampered with. You will only see this appear once during the installation typically. This is not a physical fingerprint you will use to confirm transactions. To quote the official Trezor Twitter Page: "There's no need to worry. The fingerprint is an extra check to confirm the firmware is signed by the Trezor developers. Also, Trezor itself makes sure it is an official firmware. If not, you will get a message that an alternative firmware is installed."

@@exodus seems like a very secure wallet according to what I have read.
If you a nerd and a computer tech person , yes go with the hardware wallet. But if your not , your treading in deep waters. Personally if your not a tech guy, use a hot wallet. Just my two cents!
Do you have any promo code for Trezor?
Hi there, Jorge. I'm so sorry to say we do not have any promo or affiliate codes for Trezor.
BLACKFRIDAY2020 is the code 20% off
Great content... is exodus on Android?
Yes! Exodus is on both iOS and Android: www.exodus.io/mobile/ -KC
This comparison video between Trezor/Ledger >>> than any other comparison video
That's one motivating feedback! Which Hardware Wallet do you currently use and based on the comparison which one do you prefer the most? 😃 -SR
@@exodus I have a ledger S and recently bought an X. I liked features of each particular the trezor screen and ledger Bluetooth, but went with the ledger because it stores a few coins I hold the trezor does not. Would have been a different decision otherwise
Very well compared. Smooth n informative
Thank you! 😄 -KC

Great video, thanks!
Id love something that connects directly to my phone, because I have my Exodus wallet on my phone.
I really want to buy trezor one (not T) but it doesn't support xrp from my understanding
Linux user here (Ubuntu 18), bought me a Ledger without much research, and I'm completely disappointed. Absolute waste of time and money. Could never get it to work. Android app doesn't even install. Run away. Wish I had seen this before, would probably have tried Trezor instead...
Hi there trezor model T but I don't see TRX
Hi Olivia 👋 I'm sorry for this trouble. Exodus+Trezor integration doesn't support TRX, thus, it's unavailable for Trezor in the wallet. You can see the full list of supported coins here: exodus.io/status#assets if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at support[at]exodus.io - UO
I thought I kept hearing something knocking behind me at 1:40 but it was just audio in the damn video lol...
If bitcoins had a physical counterpart like digital bitcoin and physical bitcoin
what about the siren labs ( Finney)?????
Hey Robert, The Finney looks like a dead project. They have not posted updates since 2018.
I think HTC might have beat them to the punch, they could have had issues with manufacturing, a decent wallet on the backend. Who knows. I think as we've seen with the HTC blockchain phone, people are not interested yet in this type of hardware when they can simply and securely store funds on their phone wallets already. And it's not a substitute for a dedicated hard wallet. This will shift eventually, but IMHO we're not there yet.
Nice find BTW and thanks for watching- Kris
