Great video! Mel Thompson worked with them I think in 2018/2019 before her passing on one that was supposed to replace the MAC 217 after they went all synthetic. All her videos are still up on her channel.

Aww thank you! And I didn't realize Mel worked with them! I'll have to look that video up 🖤

I use rephr and zoeva brushes exlusively (ok maybe with 2 exceptions) for a few years now. I buy a couple every year, always on sale, so I'm excited to listen to what you have to say!

I am so excited about this video. I actually am a fan of their brushes who was influenced by two creators - Hannah Louise Poston and Theresa is Dead. And at the time I was very new to makeup and had no clue about their start up hullabaloo, just that I was interested in trying real hair brushes and I’d heard good things from those two.
I am still a customer. I buy a set every year. But ONLY on sale. NEVER full price. And usually when they have a good free gift with purchase offering. I’m very picky about when I buy. I love their eye brushes. But personally, their round one of synthetics for cream products was super disappointing. Prickly and shed like CRAAAAZY. Anywho I’m only 1/3 through this video but I had to say something and will probably come back with more to say when it’s done LOL 😂

Theresa is Dead was the influencer that got me interested! She's so picky and when I saw she loved most of these, I knew I had to try them out.

Omg “Bias free mindset “ phrasing. gives me the ick.
I like the brushes themselves but i do not like rephr’s marketing funnel and constant sales, it feels cheap. Because there’s always the “testing discount” (sale) on, it feels a bit kamikoto knife vibes.

I’m glad someone is talking about their whole schtick… I didn’t know about their condescending kickstarter origin, but I’ve always looked at them and wondered how so many people are falling for such an obvious con. I have a couple of their brushes, and they’re like… fine? But the handles are so short and lightweight. They feel cheap. The prices are a joke. As you said, it’s the referral program that has made them popular, not the brushes. I’d rather stick with Sigma. At least women own it.

I had a good laugh watching your intro about the company.
Although I do think the concept of their founding is unique, interesting, and different. Which I am way more into than all of those celebrity brands.
I’ve been watching them from the side for years, waiting for hype to die out like it did with white label companies CoastalScents/Sigma/Morphe/Zoeva. Of the few I have tried, have been just decent ‘for the price’.
Of course I have been interested to buy specific brushes, but it is so hard for me to believe that they are better than the classic brush companies- Hakuhodo/Tanseido/etc. and makeup artist brushes like Cozzette/WayneGoss/BK/RaeMorris/ RT or makeup lovers like SoniaG.
I think there are 2-3 brushes they carry that have shapes that I am drawn to, but probably not enough to purchase from them.
I’d still rather spend a few more dollars and send it to companies who deeply love brushes making or using makeup. I'm not going to fuss over the money (for life's luxuries) when I know I am supporting a company I want to be around.

I 100% agree- if you have room in your budget and can save up for them, I would definitely save my money for people and companies who are dedicated and passionate about makeup artistry!

Those brushes are not for me to expensive and if I want animal hair on my face the animal needs to be attached to it

I love my Sigma brushes. You can get them at a good price. Tome The BKis over rated. I have the 101 brush. Not crazy about it

Have you tried any other BK brushes? I was also pretty interested in trying some of them out

I don't use animal hair brushes but let's say they made syntetic versions for the sake of my comment. Even if these were the best brushed ever, i hate the way they introduced the brand.
Temptalia said it right. What does a person who has never done makeup on anyone or themselves have do to with makeup users? They decided to make a few manipulative marketing tactics, use a few trendy words, and hype themselves up untill enough people agreed with them.
Never buying from this brand. Those men have the right in this industry when they start using makeup in the daily. Untill then they can f right off.

Oh definitely- it was so condescending and icky how they see themselves as the "saviors of the beauty community" almost >.
