It seemed to me that most of these packs opened up too easily for older wax packs and I believe I saw 3 John Tonelli cards in the 3 packs of cards he opened from the same series! I'm gonna guess that most if not all of these packs were previously opened and commons put in. Was there even one $10 card in any of these packs? 🤨🤔
Love watching vintage opened. I think they also have been searched. I would like the flyers cards. I think most of those I dont have. Cantwait for the next video
2 things to look for. First off the packs were sealed as a roller heated by steam, rolled across the pack which slightly sealed the wax paper. You need to look at the back to see if the roller lines, line up. Also the paper was machine folded, its almost impossible for a person to refold the paper in the corners as tight as the machine did before the rollers sealed the pack. 2nd, the wax paper should have no tears, if it's ripped then most likely someone broke the seal and opened the pack. Good video though, keep it up
That gum was so good when it was still bendable, I was grade 2, 1977, had 50 cents, bought my very first 3 packs and some mojos, and then it began, got up too 18,000 cards. First time watcher, brought back memories, good video!
Nice packs but I am pretty sure those have been searched. Not 1 good card in the entire lot is hard to believe. Also the 77-78 packs should both have 1 of those mini inserts. Only 1 of yours did. I was stoked for this video though!
Great video. Unfortunately, I have to agree with most of the comments that these were opened and resealed. It’s a shame. Excellent assortment of years here, all great sets. Thank you for sharing
Most of those packs have been pre opened and then resealed. The tears in the wax paper before they are opened is a dead giveaway. How can it be ripped if it hasnt been opened? You got burned.
I wouldn’t call it a burn as much as he’s willing to take a risk. We all watched and learned. It’s not about if he wins a big card, he’s making great UA-cam content and putting his money down to do it. I commend him for taking risk, and then having to put up with negativity like this 🤌😂.
@@hockeycardsonly3025 Funny, I dont think my comment was negative in any way. It was more educational on what to look for when being scammed by people trying to sell old packs on ebay. Ebay is a den of scammers.
@@scruffybearbreaks8774 I'm hesitant to buy any boxes of anything on eBay anymore. I'd rather just pay a bit more and buy from the retailers online that have nothing to gain by searching product before selling it (ex. getting the case hit and selling the rest of the case at gouged prices). I just wish the prices would come down a bit so it's affordable to buy and have fun opening packs haha. cheers
100% I think those have been opened and stuffed with commons. I have bought and opened a good number of vintage too and have been bamboozled!! It's a hit and miss kinda thing - some I have pulled Gretzky and Howe while others it's all unrecognizable names
That 1978 set has to be the absolute worst for off-centering and rough cuts. I've been upgrading my set for a few years now and I still have almost 50 cards which could use upgrading. Fortunately, my Mike Bossy RC is centered!
Pretty suspicious here but tbh, this was my favorite break I have seen of yours! You do an excellent job. Thank you for this! Love even the fringe players. Well done amigo!
I've been opened many packs from 1973 on-wards & been in the hobby a very long time IMO: 78-79 = tampered (Carlyle RC) 84-85 = 3/3 tampered 77-78 WHA = 3/3 tampered 77-78 = 2/2 tampered (1st pack had no sticker) 81-82 Topps = 2/2 tampered 82-83 = 2/2 tampered (1st pack card flipped, Stoughton badly creased) Most of the clean wax dried up in the early 1990's by speculator's (I was one of them), unfortunately what's left out there is mostly manipulated by now. But there's always a chance too find treasure too!!
I started collecting vintage cards recently. Never opened a pack older than 1993 (upper deck pack), but I've picked up some old 60s and 70s cards at the local card dealer. (I started collecting hockey cards in 2010)
Those prices paid are really low compared to today’s pack prices. But then again, if searched and resealed (which appears to be the case) then there’s that. OPC’s quality control wasn’t that great, poor centering is fairly common.
Only packs I’m interested in a Gretzky rookie year.. only good thing 2 packs with Gretzky showing in both packs if I remember he wants 575,000.00 US. To much ungraded packs to paranoid to even try almost spent 1000$ on a Patrick Roy 6 card rookie panel... it was fake when I looked it up good thing he didn’t take my offer lol nice video
On the package for the last two it shows a storage box for your cards. You could save your wrappers and send them to o pee chee (I think was them) and you would get that locker. They were made of card board and I got one around1982. It didn't survive into adulthood but I wonder how much that little item would go for these days
I would think,if the packs were tampered, probably any decent or star players would be replaced by"joe shmos",or if you're lucky,a good player could end up in the frey
I have opened so many packs back in the 80s and The Biggest REd ALERT for me is the way that all the cards are in order where they should be all mixed up upside down etc...never were these in order
I have a card store near me where I am in Calgary and they have vintage packs and boxes and stuff that are still sealed and with the plastic around them and for the vintage packs they have them that are never opened and stuff but I don’t trust eBay sellers because they open them and look through the packs and stuff
Which store bro? Im in Vancouver and its not hockey town like Montreal,Calgary and Edmonton! In Vancouver only the ones that can afford go the games. White collars,ceio's,Lawyers,bikers... Real fans and working class watch from home or pubs.
Okay. I worked at O-Pee -Chee from 1975 to 1980. My mother spemt 35 years there and retired from said factory. Anyone that talks about a systematic order to the cards in the wax packs is talking through thier arse. The ladies "stuffed" handfulls of cards into a slide and pulled the cards out of boxes then into the slide in No pre determined order Anytthing you need to know - look up one Bobby Burrell , as he is THE most knowledgeable person on hockey cards that I've ever run into.....JRS
Those packs from 81-82 are total BS!!! You didn't get any cards from the Campbell Conf. The cards were distributed East/West. Some cards were in all packs while others were only East/West. There is no way you didn't get any Cards from the Campbell Conf. Great Video though!!!!
All those packs were fake. Hell, most of the packs had tears from where they were opened originally ! If you actually did paid for these, you get ripped off savagely !
Gretzky in 1983 sizing up the NJ Devils humble beginnings, as like a "Mickey Mouse team. 10 yrs later, (C) Scott Stevens came to NJ to help remove that label. Then the others came....and then the trophys.
Dude, those 1970s packs are completely repackaged. When (not if) a price is too good to be true, it simply is not... true. There are a ton of known scammers on eBay. I certainly know and have reported some of them. They also exist in person, unfortunately. What gets me is those complete old sets can be purchased really affordably, as they are probably less sought than many of today's premium memorabilia singles.
Amazing the re-sealer didn't understand the two pieces of broken gum are clearly diff sizes. Probably two diff sports to boot. Scammers going backwards lately. Doing nonsensical work instead of wanting to truly deceive. Lazy evils will not win any time they want. Work harder next time. Damn sellouts!!
My friend, I did not enjoy this video. Not because you did anything bad. I didn't enjoy it because you were totally ripped off by the people that sold those to you. I would never spend another penny on their stuff. SMH I do appreciate your videos. It just upsets me to see you ripped off by unscrupulous people.
1st was glued and the second pack was already ripped.... I think you knew what you were buying but not actually saying it out right. sorry bud, i'm out
The second pack had a inside tear! Only way that could have happened was when the wrapper was originally opened
I opened tons of this back in the day, in 1965ish i started collecting and playing hockey. I started again this year at 62 so never to old cheers
i lost my entire collection 70-92. starting over at 47.
I love vintage if I could find old packs like this I would buy them
I gotchu www.ebay.com/itm/Hockey-Card-LIQUIDATION-LOT-OF-NEW-OLD-VINTAGE-UNOPENED-Hockey-CARDS-IN-PACKS-/283943084133?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
Gotta love the old vintage cards! Very nice cards overall, always fun to watch these old wax packs opening!
✌🏼😎👍🏼
Love watching vintage opened. I think they also have been searched. I would like the flyers cards. I think most of those I dont have. Cantwait for the next video

Poor you,i guess youd never see the difference between a Canadian Tire 5$ bill and a real one.
ALL THESE PACKS ARE SEARCH YOU CAN TELL BY THE WRAPPER BEING RIPPED ON EVERY PACK
That gum was so good when it was still bendable, I was grade 2, 1977, had 50 cents, bought my very first 3 packs and some mojos, and then it began, got up too 18,000 cards. First time watcher, brought back memories, good video!
Yup those are searched already, i would not buy from these dealers again, they knew they were searched and still sold them...
I would fire in an eBay complaint to get your money back
Nice packs but I am pretty sure those have been searched. Not 1 good card in the entire lot is hard to believe. Also the 77-78 packs should both have 1 of those mini inserts. Only 1 of yours did. I was stoked for this video though!
Thanks for watching.
Some I knew were searched because a bunch were dirt cheap like $8 $10 $12 a pack. Ussially selling for $20 to $80 ect a pack.
Great video. Unfortunately, I have to agree with most of the comments that these were opened and resealed. It’s a shame. Excellent assortment of years here, all great sets. Thank you for sharing
Pretty fishy getting doubles when only having 3 packs of the series.
It's only a 66 card set.... lots of doubles
Thanks for sharing- love the vintage
I love vintage,but you got scam,they kept the good ones.No rookies,no Lafleur,no Gretzky,no checklist...But still you made a nice vid!
Thanks for opening these old packs. I’m not a hockey collector but it’s fun to watch your channel.
Billy “Mike” Smith. Lol
I would like that miscut card. The first card in the 78/79 pack.
Most of those packs have been pre opened and then resealed. The tears in the wax paper before they are opened is a dead giveaway. How can it be ripped if it hasnt been opened? You got burned.

10:34 first card creased straight down middle hard to believe that card got creased in a sealed pack!
Thank you for sharing .
Wow lots of Habs cards! 🔥😍🙏
✌🏼😎👍🏼
Great video and nice break
Yes keep ripping vintage...
That 1978 set has to be the absolute worst for off-centering and rough cuts. I've been upgrading my set for a few years now and I still have almost 50 cards which could use upgrading.
Fortunately, my Mike Bossy RC is centered!
I love hearing from all the wax pack resealing experts on here. Thanks fellas
Awesome Vintage Cards man 🤘🏽🚨
Great video and exciting to watch though - hope to see more vintage
Some of those packs were preopened. No upside down cards or any of the many Gretz inserts.
atleast one of those WHA packs was missing a card- guaranteed searched and resealed.
Nice pulls, kinda sketchy with some.packs
Sweet Billy Smith card....
Pretty suspicious here but tbh, this was my favorite break I have seen of yours! You do an excellent job. Thank you for this! Love even the fringe players. Well done amigo!
I would like that Hakan Loob and the 77 Bob Gainey.
I've been opened many packs from 1973 on-wards & been in the hobby a very long time IMO:
78-79 = tampered (Carlyle RC)
84-85 = 3/3 tampered
77-78 WHA = 3/3 tampered
77-78 = 2/2 tampered (1st pack had no sticker)
81-82 Topps = 2/2 tampered
82-83 = 2/2 tampered (1st pack card flipped, Stoughton badly creased)
Most of the clean wax dried up in the early 1990's by speculator's (I was one of them), unfortunately what's left out there is mostly manipulated by now.

Been searched but empty packs neat
Another 25 years and 80s cards will be wirth something
Nice video and nice break
You understand you had a Steve Penney rookie?
And yes these are resealed of course.
Its the new way collectors can sell the cards they don't want.
I enjoyed and subbed
I love these wax videos but I think you got tampered packs. The fact that you got them for so cheap should have been your first clue
🤩🥳🤩
Hi great pack opening . Could you show the backs of the cards? Enjoyed this vid . Thanks from Vancouver
Vancouver,Canada?
Be strong sunny days are coming soon,by May.
3:15 thats a Very nice rookie of Steve Penney!! Its no Patrick Roy but still its one of my favorite in this set!
✌🏼😎👍🏼
That 1st pack was from the 78-79 set
Love vintage cards but don't buy them anymore as people do go through them first and re-seal. Too bad. I love the old WHA cards
Just watched this but I’d be interested in the 2 Ken Baird that you pulled if available.
I ordered packs of cards from all sports through the internet and about 80+% of the players were commons!🥴🥴🥴🥴
I think some might hqve been re glued snd re packed . Unless these packs hqvw a massive amount of repeat cards
I have a few Patrick Roy Cards
I will take as many cards as I can get
Those prices paid are really low compared to today’s pack prices. But then again, if searched and resealed (which appears to be the case) then there’s that. OPC’s quality control wasn’t that great, poor centering is fairly common.

I suspect those were opened and resealed. You pulled so many duplicates for such a small sample.
Did you start to suspect something in the WHA cards when you pulled the same 4 cards in all 3 packs? 🤣😂🤣
I have opened so many packs back in the 80s and The Biggest REd ALERT for me is the way that all the cards are in order where they should be all mixed up upside down etc...never were these in order
Where can I find a Bill Riley card, like the one in your video? Bill and I have become friends. Would love to have his hockey card.
I have a card store near me where I am in Calgary and they have vintage packs and boxes and stuff that are still sealed and with the plastic around them and for the vintage packs they have them that are never opened and stuff but I don’t trust eBay sellers because they open them and look through the packs and stuff

Geez, the people who searched the '81-82s didn't even backfill the pack with commons. Neither pack had 13 cards in it.
I will loved the guy Lapointe card if you want To sell

You may want to adjust the camera angle. The top of the cards are cut off when you show them.

Where did you get the upper deck hockey mat at i like it
You got any Atlanta flames cards
80's goalie cards are dope as f*ck......
New subscriber here, i would love that Steve Penney rookie at 3:15 how much do you want for it?
Thanks very much and awesome content!
✌🏼😎👍🏼
hosed
All those packs were fake. Hell, most of the packs had tears from where they were opened originally ! If you actually did paid for these, you get ripped off savagely !
Dare ya to eat a piece of that gum, lol.
Would you have NJ Devils hockey cards from the 1982-83 season up to the 1986-87 season you would like to sell ?
Gretzky in 1983 sizing up the NJ Devils humble beginnings, as like a "Mickey Mouse team. 10 yrs later, (C) Scott Stevens came to NJ to help remove that label. Then the others came....and then the trophys.
It's cheaper to buy full sets. The gum is worth more than the cards
Repacked looks like it was done by a todler
If you still have any cards I do ttm autographs and you got lots of cards for ttm
Message me, I have a whole box of vintage base somewhere on the shelf
Thats no good if they were repacked.
77-78 yr second pack was same as first lol... u got dooped those are re-packs lol...

Do you still have the Steve Penney?
Resealed packs don't have good cards in them. lol
you got screwed maybe $ 20 of value
Totally ripped off. Most packs were missing cards in them.
Dude...
I wouldn't give you $10 bucks Canadian for all of these pre- opened packed cards. It's to bad their are so many dishonest people in this world.
😆
All these packs have already been opened....fraud! Sorry for you!
If you can't tell if a pack has been tampered with, you shouldn't be buying vintage packs
wax packs? nah, WACK packs.
u totally got taken

If anything, you resealed these packs just to make your video and get views. I know how youtube works. I'm the man.
Definitely got scammed
Not one superstar in any pack... they been hacked!!!
Looks like all your packs were resealed.Stop buying from that person.
You got absolute garbage. Best you got imo was that Mike Gartner base. Looks like you got scammed on all those packs.
Junk. I love these hockey pack openings where the guy has no clue how to pronounce their names lol.
