    Nice camera, I purchased one but am having trouble getting a good wi fi signal. I installed it at the peak of my 10' x 16' shed so i can have a sky high view of my block but I think it may be too high. The night i got the camera i left it in the garage overnight to charge and plugged in and I was able to explore the video and features and it worked like a charm, no wi fi problems but once I put it on top of my shed problems began. Installed a wi fi extender and that didnt help, it was a waste of $35. I might just have to settle for a "gutter high" view from my garage instead. I hate wi fi.

      Try changing your WiFi settings to see if it helps. You may also have some metal or brick (cinder block) in the path blocking the signal. Make sure the antennas are pointing UP never point them DOWN. That is bad for signal.

      The camera is IPX rated so it has to be sealed. This camera has been sitting outside my house for a year now with no problems even during rainy season. I also hose it off when the solar panel gets dirty from bird poop and still no problems.

      Yes, you have to adjust that in the settings. Adjust the sensitivity of the camera and then set LED's on instead of IR on. You can also turn them on manually by clicking the little red circle on the lower right hand corner of the view screen. It will be red circle when the IR is active.

      At the end of the day look at the battery level (before the camera shuts off) in the upper right hand corner of the control panel. See how low it is and there is your answer. If it is tool low, like 30% then you need to add more batteries. Otherwise go through each of your settings and make sure nothing else is causing it to go into sleep mode.

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  Рік тому +2

      There are no specifics anywhere as to how far it will reach. In your situation you would have to try it out and see how far the signal reaches. If the signal doesn't reach far enough then you could get a WiFi repeater to extend your range. You would have the same situation with any WiFi camera.

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  2 роки тому +1

      Sure you can if you are a little handy with tools. First I would say to contact Soliom if it is still under warranty. If not then check a couple of things. Make sure that you have enough batteries and charge to power the lights. Flickering can be due to low power. Secondly if that is not the problem then check for loose connections. If the actual LEDs are the problem then just get a new LED and solder it in place of the old one.

    Hello, I just installed this camera and I love this thing but I’m having an issue. Honestly the setting I really don’t understand to well. The main question is I’m getting 2 types of files on my SD card. The first is Motion Detected which is self explanatory and the other is, “user wake up” which I have no clue what that is.
    Sleep delay is another I need help with. Thanks

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  3 роки тому

      The "User Wake up" is when YOU wake it up to see what is happening. If you click on it to see what the notice was for, that is recorded as an User Wake up. It's silly I know, but that is how the code was written. The sleep delay is how long you want want it to run before it goes to sleep. I have it for 30 seconds. It will stop recording or go to Sleep 30 seconds after it notices NO further motion.

    What length of video footage can be stored in a 1 GB memory card if the video is 1080p and 15fps?

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  2 роки тому

      There are many video storage calculators online for free that can give you a more accurate result. On thing you didn't mention is how long the footage would be stored. 1 GB is not much. Using H.264 format you could get several hours in one day. Mpeg takes up much more room so that would be shorter. 1GB is not a realistic storage size for video for long term. Look for a calculator online and you can play with the numbers to get the results you need.

    • @PeterSchneemann
      @PeterSchneemann 2 роки тому

      @@ModernDIYProjects I am asking because the security cameras I bought allow for a card of up to 128 gb, so I wonder how long of a video footage that can store if the resolution is 1080p and it is 15 fps?

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  2 роки тому +2

      @@PeterSchneemann Well, you said 1GB which is a whole different animal. 128GB is a LOT. Most cameras allow up to 128GB, a few will allow up to 256GB. I have several cameras with 128GB cards and they take weeks before they fill up. Once they fill up then they start to overwrite the oldest footage so you NEVER will run out of room. 128GB is plenty, no need to worry.

      It can work for you with a minor modification. You can add a longer wire and move the solar panel to a place where the sun shines if not too too far away. It is after all just a DC cable with a + and - connector. Even if you have a shaded area as long as it gets some sun throughout the day you should be fine. I have been using the camera since I made the video and it draws very little energy. It is always a full charge.

      Amazing! One piece of advice. Since you have a situation like this I would suggest that you use the cloud service with any camera you get. That way you have solid evidence of what transpired. If you use the SD card on the camera, well, once the camera is stolen, so is your evidence. Also, you may want to get a camera that is on 24/7 that way you get an alert when things happen and not after the camera feels like waking up. I know I use this same camera and sometimes it is slow to wake up. Check out my latest review video of another camera like this one: ua-cam.com/video/eXjXWbyUCEQ/v-deo.html It does the same as the Soliom but it can record 24/7 and is only $39 per camera. Way cheaper than the Soliom.
