Awesome vids , I came across your channel after deciding a couple of days ago that I’m on the look out for rs 125 , (44 year old mid life crisis 😄) I’ve been racing bikes (Mx ) since I was 12 , I finished 4th last year in the British ametuer vets championship riding a 450 four stroke (boo😄) so the thought of tinkering with a little two stroke will bring back great memories , Looking forward to episode 4 👍.
Not many people racing two stroke MX nowadays though I hear there’s a classic series. Thanks for watching get yourself a project it’s definitely rewarding 😬 albeit expensive haha
To clean the oil tank put some dishwashing salt in there and shack for a few hrs with some degreaser or lemon juice works wonders. Did it on my KTMs rad overflow tank
@@isaacmyhill2223 im not surprised really I guess if its been owned by 17 year olds on a budget its bound to have a few shoddy repairs. But when it gets back on the road it'll be mint.
I'm also rebuilding an RS125, funds allowing haha any spare bits you got lying around you dont need anymore? Also you seem to be able to find all the little things I cant like the expanding rubber dust seals on the master cylinders any chance you can help me find some?
Hello I have RS125 I have had it for over 15 years has been in storage have recently tried to start it it has started on for two seconds and suddenly stopped then I had to stick it in gear rocket backwards and forwards and then try and start it and it will run and then it stops dead and can u help with any suggestions
Lee Rolls thanks for watching. If it’s been stood for a while it could be lots of things. Check all the basics first. Fully charged battery, new fuel, new oil. Then pull the plug out and check to make sure it’s not fouled up. It’s also quite likely that the carb will need cleaning too. Go through that process and you’ll most likely find your issue.
Lets Review It thank you for the good advice but I have already put new battery new spark plug new gear oil new two stroke reserve filter carburettor starting motor cause I though it was the starting motor and it was the second one I put in cause I Realised it was not the starting motor cause I rooked it backwards and forwards in gear and it managed to start up 5 times and I have put it in gear and the back wheel have blocked up so I proceeded to take the clutch out and the top one was not off set and I put it back together and it will still not start I still checked the power valve and it looked ok do u reckon I check the piston and I had the engine recon 15 years ago and barely done 500 miles before I stoped using it and thank u for ur feedback
@@letsreviewit8925 , you put the valve in the right way up (chamfer horizontal rather than vertical), but the housing was the wrong way up. Twist the housing round 180 degrees and the cable nipple can’t pop out.
Your doing your project backwards mate , guys do EVERYTHING or nothing And DONT use the oiltank or oilpump redo it yes put it back on but premix guys way way safer see that filter in the vid it will always be like that when you take it out it will kill you engine again premix!! 2,5 to 100 and buy a NEW exhaust its full off shit you will NOT get out! Use a adjustable powervalve not the cable one but one with a adjustable spring so u can set you powerband as u like it, what a wreck not wearthy to rebuild. Can U tel mewhat this project putt you back in money terms???

Bloody hell, anything you touch on this bike has to be replaced... that's a FULL ON project!
Indeed but it’ll be amazing when finished
Tip about the blade that goes in to the exhaust port, make sure that the cable is on a nice bend and not like a sharper bend so it can get stuck
Magnus Persson good shout thanks

Unbelievably helpful, cheers keep the context coming👍🏼
Piranha Fish Keeper thanks for watching 👌🏻
Great rebuild! I’m currently restoring a 2000 Aprilia rs125 and have also faced many challenges!
Also rust hack for exhaust use harpic x10 just paint on and wire off after a while and repeat works amazing and it’s 2 squids
This has been brilliant to follow
Thanks for watching Bren
Pretty sure the cable hole of the pv housing goes upwards and you just spin the blade 180 degrees to stop the cable coming out
Nice one, just checked and you're right - which means it was upside down to start with lol. Whoever had this bike before me.....
@@letsreviewit8925 yep I'm surprised at the amount of bodgery the previous owner thought was acceptable tbh

@@letsreviewit8925 , honestly I have seen Aprilia dealers put the power valve in upside down.
Liked and thanks as always, stay safe....🏴
Thanks Ian take care 👍
Looks like it has recently had top end work the cylinder head and gasket around the engine looks very clean normally covered in oil
Definitely looks that way which the previous owner did say but you never know do you.
Cylinder also has mitaka stamped on it

Great videos mate.... honest and interesting. Cheers :-)
Thanks 👍 Glad you're enjoying them - certainly a labour of love :)

I would do a compression test as it's quite a big dill on two stroke
Where you get the Korkwashers on the Swingarm?
You're living my dream 😂
Love the video´s! But since the bike is in this horrific condition a look at the cylinder and piston would maybe have been worthwhile?
where did you get your oil filter kit from?
Where do you source all your parts from?
Is the exhaust a complete arrow exhaust or just an arrow silencer?
I think its a full arrow exhaust. Lots of the parts have arrow on them.
Lets Review It its a shame you couldn't remove the rust, the welding on the header looked amazing
Has that frame been welded
you put the powevalve blade the wrong way round mate. champfered edge should face into the chamber so exhaust flow hits it
Every manual I’ve read says the chamfered edge faces down so that’s what I’ve gone with
@@letsreviewit8925 , you put the valve in the right way up (chamfer horizontal rather than vertical), but the housing was the wrong way up. Twist the housing round 180 degrees and the cable nipple can’t pop out.
hello, sorry to ask, but where you buy the parts for the aprilia rs 125 ?
Lots of different companies which parts are you referring to?
@@letsreviewit8925 filters, brake pads =
wear and maintenance material
Most of that comes from PJME
@@letsreviewit8925 okay 👍 , thank you
The indicators are not correct. The indicators that you have on the bike are for the newer 2006 - 2012 model.
Hi Barry correct they're LED's as much as I wanted original I couldn't bring myself to put originals on
That headtube bolt................ The one dislike must be from the previous owner.
I always wonder why people dislike videos, guess they're not for everyone - maybe you're right! :)
