The thing is that, to most people, Smoker is still at the level of a normal pre timeskip fighter but we know that that isn't true because he leads the toughest marine branch in the New World. Smoker needs a moment of triumph to really get his level on the post timeskip level of strength, we know he can't win against Luffy anymore but I'm pretty sure that Nami can beat Smoker if she tries, which is absurd for a character that is built around being a tough strong guy.

"Shirohebi" or White Snake with smoker really remind me of a fun WW2 story with Brazil's troops and the whole "A cobra vai fumar" phrase origin (it means "The snake will/shall smoke"), which is something you say when something is hard to do and will be a pain in the ass even after it is done. During WW2, Brazil was a very neutral country for quite a while, it used its neutrality to make deals with both sides of the war that were trying to rope Brazil into their side, so it wasn't a surprise that the sentiment about Brazil going to war with anyone was very pessimistic, "it's easier for a snake to smoke than for Brazil to enter the war" was a phrase commonly said at the time, and although Brazil had an expeditionary force, no one put much faith in it going out nevermind actually completing a mission there. Brazil eventually sent said force to Italy to contribute he Allies war efforts and somehow completed the mission given to them(important to mention that they didn't have good training, equipment or environment. Not even the other nation's soldiers put faith in them). From 25000 recruited men, around 24550 returned alive, from then on, the smoking snake became the symbol of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, they to this day call themselves the "Smoking Snakes". Which is very on point with Smoker having a snake as the animal representing him as an admiral.
Has oda ever said where smoker would be from in the real world? (Like the straw hats). After reading this it wouldnt surprise me if he said brazil considering how he does everything for a reason. Although the fact that his epithet isnt white snake puts a bit of a bumper in that idea.

I think that since Smoker can control the smoke that he creates, he would be able to make it dense enough to manipulate objects or capture people with it without using Haki.
I think he was shown doing that. He grabbed a glass of wine or something. He can also use it to hit others or push them as far as I remember, although you could say that was his actual hand when he uses smoke abilities to "stretch" like Luffy (or better yet, get detached like Buggy).

Smoker got bodied by Luffy in PANK HAZARD, many many chapters ago in BASE, there is no universe in which Smoker does anything to Gear 5 Luffy, or even the base one. Unless Smoker has awakened his fruit, he'd still lose badly though.
Except it’s be like probably 2-3 months and after that, law, and Doffy destroying him I think he would have had a training arc trying to get his awakening even
@@Billy_Herrington1969 To be fair, Smoker uses the same techniques every fight. He spreads his body around his opponent to confuse them but it's a major weakness against haki. Most of the arc in Punk Hazard, Smoker is protecting his crew and Tashigi. Hopefully, we'll actually see new techniques other than just smoke punch.
I believe people like Smoker, Lucci, Crocodile have gotten stronger greatly but the Strawhats have gone to a whole new lvl. The Strawhats literally faced the Yonko crews.
8:24 Smoker was one of the coolest smoking characters/portrayal of smoking I had seen in a "modern" show. With Smoker's design, fruit and character I do think it would be a bit of a waster if he didn't get a power-up/return to the story.
Smoker's smoke really seems more like fog to me. Unless if there's instances where people that breathe in smokers smoke actually have trouble breathing since smoke is particles that inhibit breathing whereas fog is basically wet air
This really makes me think. Luffy has the first Zoan fruit, Buggy has the first Paramecia fruit and Smoker has the first Logia fruit. Luffy is a good guy who brings smiles to the down trodden, Buggy makes the villains in his crew smile (barring Mihawk and Crocodile) and Smoker is one of the few good Marines who fights for the general public and makes THEM smile. Additional: they're almost like the 'comedy trio'. Luffy: toon physics Buggy: cartoon reattaching from severe attacks Smoker: leaving a 'cloud of Smoke' behind him for escapes.
Imagine if there was a Cloud Logia. You can do rain, storms, and lightning etc. Also, they could make the "water" clouds in addition to the ideal clouds from skypiea: String, Iron, Milky, and island cloud!
I think smoke could be used to make rain or lightning. If clouds are just vapor beading up onto airborne particles, smoke provides the particles. Send warm smoke to a high altitude it will cool and form clouds. Or you can make two smoke plumes, one be positively charged and one negative and viola! Cloud to cloud lightning. Smokers best attack is probably asphyxiation. Just fill a space with smoke instead of air like Caesar clown did.

As good a time as any to ask this. Why do some people say Aokiji's fruit is not actually ice itself, just because the name of his fruit (Hie-Hie) means chilly or cold? Enel's fruit is called the "rumble-rumble" fruit for the sound that thunder makes, even though his power is electricity, not just its sound. Robin's power is called "flower-flower" even though it has nothing to do with plants, and its just because of the way her limbs "sprout" out of surfaces, like flowers. And as we're seeing here, Smoker's power is called the "billow" or "plume" fruit, which doesn't necesarily reffer to smoke itself. The point is Oda sometimes takes liberties with the way he names the fruits, the name isn't always a literal description of the power, yet through the years I've seen many people claim that Aokiji's fruit is not "ice", just "cold", because of the fruit's name.
Because he doesnt JUST make ice. He can also freeze preexisting liquids and make snow on things which reinforces the idea that it is the concept of cold not the concept of just ice. He froze a giant stretch of ocean into a solid block of ice. That could not be done by just spreading created ice throughout the water, he froze the water itself. like you proved in your comment some fruits are based of concept, like the "Flower-Flower" fruit being about seeds sprouting and blooming anywhere (carried by the wind, water, animals, etc.) but with yourself being the flower.
An important thing to remember is that smoke is a suspension of particles in a gas released when something combusts. While we aren't sure yet what a logia awakening would look like, I think a possibility for Smoker's fruit would be that he can make his smoke particles and/or whatever he touches to be combustible and then control the smoke released from the reaction. That would make his fruit stupidly powerful offensively since he can just make anything explode but also he'd make an absurd amount of smoke that he can then control.
Smoker and Tashigi said they were taking the giant kids to see Dr Vegapunk so that means they might run into the Straw Hat pirates on Egghead Island and that means rematches with Luffy VS Smoker and Zoro VS Tashigi.
You know when we meet Rodger in the Oden flash back and you see him say something like. "If you want to catch me send Garp or Sengoku" I bet near the end we will have a similar situation with Luffy saying "if you want to catch me send Coby or Smokey"
I always imagine that logia awakening allows you to control your respective element as it exists naturally. Smoker could then surround himself and even fuse with that smoke. Even if you use haki there would be no way of telling apart the smoke that makes up Smokers body and the natural smoke from a random fire that he is manipulating. You could punch him with haki but the part you punch could just be natural smoke. This would explain punk hazard, as Akainu could control Magma at the Earth's core, he could bring it up to the surface causing volcanic eruptions and creating volcanic activity. Aokiji could control ice in the clouds and air and could cause giant hail clouds to linger above the battlefield creating aemi-petmanent blizzards. Kizaru could control all light around him, he could block all light from an area creating ares of blackness were no light exist making it impossible to see or areas of extreme blinding light, he could generate light beams from any source of light he sees allowing him to attack an opponent's blind spot. Logia awakenings are something I am and have been waiting for, for a long time and coyld be a huge game changer when it come to power scaling. If Akainu could manipulate magma at the Earth's core then it really makes sense why his would have the greatest offensive potential as has been stated. The guy could literally just cause the ground below you to erupt with magma, he could create whole new islands, heck he could destroy the world by erupting it's core. The possibilities are endless and logia awakening could help Smoker finally get some W's.
Just gonna throw out that Kizaru (or a previous user of the pika pika no mi) could have awakened it and caused the everlasting daytime at Enies Lobby. Also Kizaru's fruit is already busted so he doesn't even need even more hax lol
@@Malcolm-xz3ef that's a tough one. Most lightning actually comes from the ground, so I assume he could summon lightning bolts from the ground. If we use him powering his ship then his fruit seems more like electricity than lightning. Perhaps he could absorb electricity in the surrounding area. If we go really out there than it could be some form of electro magnetism. He could potentially charge magnetic materials, cause things to float, he could use iron rich substances as Tesla coils and create a massive web of interconnected electricity, allowing him to redirect lightning bolts. All that magnetic charge would likely attract atmospheric lightning creating lightning clouds as well. The terrain would eventually resemble parts of the land of lightning from Naruto. Unfortunately, in a world less reliant on electricity his fruit wouldn't be too much more powerful, in our world he would be god. Creating emp's destroying electrical systems, absorbing electricity and powering machines etc. Hope he returns, he was my favourite antagonist.

You know why I like Tekking101. He's authentic. He doesn't have really any Call to Actions. He doesn't have sponsors. And he just, keeps things interesting in the beginning the Failure to Cut, Tekking Tumble, Barrie the indomitable brick. Just random stuff, that makes no real sense, stuff that should send new viewer's away. Just nice change of pace from most other tubers.
Correction. The reveal of Kurroseki, seasprism, wasn't until Alabasta, when they were caged in the Croco-Cage. That's when Smoker reveals the existence of Seaprism and reveals that the tip of his weapon is made of it.

Actually in One piece pirate warriors 4 I remember Smoker having a move called "white snake". You activate it by pressing light melee button once then strong melee button. He creates a snake of smoke with one arm and sins it around traping enemies in it.
I think Smoker will be like Garp, never becoming an Admiral because he doesn't want the responsibility. He already was known for staying Captain on purpose.
The Smoker vs. Ace fight ending in a draw is another result of Haki not being properly established until around the timeskip. If the ideas for Haki were cemented in stone back then, and Oda knew that he wanted Ace to use it, there's no reason their fight would've gone in any direction other than Ace's victory. However, at the same time, I could easily see the exchange as Ace playing with Smoker, he wasn't going to take him out when he can be used to teach Luffy a valuable lesson about logia's.
I actually think Smoker has a chance against Ace. Maybe not a serious, “get this over quickly” Ace, but in a long drawn out battle, Smoker actually counters Ace. Specifically… Smoke doesn’t burn, and it would also replace the oxygen in the air, which is the main fuel for an open flame. In a drawn it fight, aces fire will make smoke, and Smokers smoke will dampen his fire.
when you burn something clean it has white smoke, the more unclean something is the darker the smoke think plastic or rubber but something like wood burns white smoke
Fire is what generates and creates smoke and only gets smothered out when the fire runs low on fuel and rhe smoke overwhelms/consumes the fire. Which is why Ace and Smoker dont have any natural advantages over the other. Ace has no real limit to his flames, or at least, no greater a limit than smoker and rhey seem to produce the same amount of their elements at the same pace. So ultimately they’ll only ever stalemate unless smoker learns of a way to prodice MASSIVE quantities of smoke more than ace could fire
I would love to see an alternate version of One Piece where Luffy steals smokers weapon back then and uses it as a staff like wukong. As like a mobility tool to maneuver with, along with using the seaprism to hit. Imagine him getting a weapon upgrade from ussop that expands like the Kabuto.
Honestly it comes down to Smoker is just not strong enough to maximize the fruits potential yet. He could be an even more effective logia if he had bet Observation to deploy the maneuvering ability that Katakuri and the Admirals use to avoid haki attacks. As a gas his versatility is great than more solid logias, similar to Ceasar's pitfalls with the Gas fruit.

Fun fact! Porygon isn’t actually the only Pokémon made through the direct creation of humans. As Tekking stated, there’s Mewtwo, who was made by cloning Mew. Aside from that there’s also Genesect, who was technically made into what he is from experimentation with bionic technology on an as-of-yet unnamed ancient Pokémon. Always really liked smoker from the very beginning. Yeah hes not quite up there anymore in terms of strength but thats fine since strength isnt everything. And ive also always really liked tashigi as well so im happy whenever they make an appearance. Hope to see them again soon.

Smoker is just such an awesome character. One of my favorite marines for sure. In one piece tcg set two paramount war. Black leader Smoker is pretty good.
I think when it comes to the entire Smoker if he can ignore the effects of smoke, you also have to wonder if that’s a constant with every other logia. Can Ace and Akainu be immune to heat and any burns? How about Aokiji and Monet? I would say it can since Monet with how she dressed and seemed just fine. But then there is Ace and Akainu who are shirtless or in Hawaiian shirts. Since if that was the case, everything would feel cold to them. So your mileage with them will be dependent on what you eat.
id say it would not make you just feel colder because you ate a logia fruit based on heat just that you ignore the ill effects of heat so you can go to a desert in a Hawaii shirt or even a winter jacket and it feel the same to you as being in a room temperature room with that outfit (or something along those lines) not that everything feels cold to you though sunbunes might still be a issue maybe idk i could not really see someone like Aokiji dealing with frostbite cause he did not wear a warm enough jacket though ya i assume mileage still varies depending on power of base fruit
We know certain Logia abilities allow you to ignore weather conditions related to it, precisely because the elements themselves are immune to them. Fire and magma aren't affected by high temperatures around them, so the user's won't either. Sakazuki and Sabo would probably be able to walk around in the heat of a desert or a volcanic area without even sweating. But snow and ice would quicklly melt, so their users are weak to it instead. And it works the other way around too. Monet was comfortable walking around in the cold part of Punk Hazard, wearing very little clothing, even though everyone else had to wear winter clothes. And it would likely be the same for Aokiji.
Oh boy. Porygon facts! I can actually help with this one. Well, this is more tangential, but Magnetmite's line is definitely a natural pokemon because it's confirmed to have an ancestor. Voltorbs are also confirmed to have an ancestor in Legends: Arceus, so they're naturally occurring pokemon too. Grimer is, weirdly, a mix of human waste products and a natural force. They came alive after radiation from space hit our sludge waste. Genecect had a fossil base, so I don't think it counts. A pokemon that _could_ be man-made is Ditto. It's found in the same mansion as the Mewtwo journals, so it's possible that they're failed Mew clones. Mew is the ultimate "learn every move" pokemon, after all. Besides that, Sun and Moon had Type:Null, which is literally humans trying to "Play Arceus" with it's special ability RKS System..

@@Billy_Herrington1969 To be fair, Smoker uses the same techniques every fight. He spreads his body around his opponent to confuse them but it's a major weakness against haki. Most of the arc in Punk Hazard, Smoker is protecting his crew and Tashigi. Hopefully, we'll actually see new techniques other than just smoke punch.
I believe people like Smoker, Lucci, Crocodile have gotten stronger greatly but the Strawhats have gone to a whole new lvl. The Strawhats literally faced the Yonko crews.

8:24 Smoker was one of the coolest smoking characters/portrayal of smoking I had seen in a "modern" show. With Smoker's design, fruit and character I do think it would be a bit of a waster if he didn't get a power-up/return to the story.
Smoker's smoke really seems more like fog to me. Unless if there's instances where people that breathe in smokers smoke actually have trouble breathing since smoke is particles that inhibit breathing whereas fog is basically wet air
This really makes me think. Luffy has the first Zoan fruit, Buggy has the first Paramecia fruit and Smoker has the first Logia fruit.
Luffy is a good guy who brings smiles to the down trodden, Buggy makes the villains in his crew smile (barring Mihawk and Crocodile) and Smoker is one of the few good Marines who fights for the general public and makes THEM smile.
Additional: they're almost like the 'comedy trio'.

I think smoke could be used to make rain or lightning. If clouds are just vapor beading up onto airborne particles, smoke provides the particles. Send warm smoke to a high altitude it will cool and form clouds. Or you can make two smoke plumes, one be positively charged and one negative and viola! Cloud to cloud lightning.
Smokers best attack is probably asphyxiation. Just fill a space with smoke instead of air like Caesar clown did.

As good a time as any to ask this. Why do some people say Aokiji's fruit is not actually ice itself, just because the name of his fruit (Hie-Hie) means chilly or cold? Enel's fruit is called the "rumble-rumble" fruit for the sound that thunder makes, even though his power is electricity, not just its sound. Robin's power is called "flower-flower" even though it has nothing to do with plants, and its just because of the way her limbs "sprout" out of surfaces, like flowers.
And as we're seeing here, Smoker's power is called the "billow" or "plume" fruit, which doesn't necesarily reffer to smoke itself. The point is Oda sometimes takes liberties with the way he names the fruits, the name isn't always a literal description of the power, yet through the years I've seen many people claim that Aokiji's fruit is not "ice", just "cold", because of the fruit's name.

Because he doesnt JUST make ice. He can also freeze preexisting liquids and make snow on things which reinforces the idea that it is the concept of cold not the concept of just ice.
He froze a giant stretch of ocean into a solid block of ice. That could not be done by just spreading created ice throughout the water, he froze the water itself.
like you proved in your comment some fruits are based of concept, like the "Flower-Flower" fruit being about seeds sprouting and blooming anywhere (carried by the wind, water, animals, etc.) but with yourself being the flower.
An important thing to remember is that smoke is a suspension of particles in a gas released when something combusts. While we aren't sure yet what a logia awakening would look like, I think a possibility for Smoker's fruit would be that he can make his smoke particles and/or whatever he touches to be combustible and then control the smoke released from the reaction. That would make his fruit stupidly powerful offensively since he can just make anything explode but also he'd make an absurd amount of smoke that he can then control.
Smoker and Tashigi said they were taking the giant kids to see Dr Vegapunk so that means they might run into the Straw Hat pirates on Egghead Island and that means rematches with Luffy VS Smoker and Zoro VS Tashigi.
But wouldn't that have been a hot minute ago because of everything they've done in the New World since Punk Hazard?

You know when we meet Rodger in the Oden flash back and you see him say something like. "If you want to catch me send Garp or Sengoku" I bet near the end we will have a similar situation with Luffy saying "if you want to catch me send Coby or Smokey"
I always imagine that logia awakening allows you to control your respective element as it exists naturally. Smoker could then surround himself and even fuse with that smoke. Even if you use haki there would be no way of telling apart the smoke that makes up Smokers body and the natural smoke from a random fire that he is manipulating. You could punch him with haki but the part you punch could just be natural smoke.
This would explain punk hazard, as Akainu could control Magma at the Earth's core, he could bring it up to the surface causing volcanic eruptions and creating volcanic activity. Aokiji could control ice in the clouds and air and could cause giant hail clouds to linger above the battlefield creating aemi-petmanent blizzards. Kizaru could control all light around him, he could block all light from an area creating ares of blackness were no light exist making it impossible to see or areas of extreme blinding light, he could generate light beams from any source of light he sees allowing him to attack an opponent's blind spot.
Logia awakenings are something I am and have been waiting for, for a long time and coyld be a huge game changer when it come to power scaling. If Akainu could manipulate magma at the Earth's core then it really makes sense why his would have the greatest offensive potential as has been stated. The guy could literally just cause the ground below you to erupt with magma, he could create whole new islands, heck he could destroy the world by erupting it's core. The possibilities are endless and logia awakening could help Smoker finally get some W's.
Just gonna throw out that Kizaru (or a previous user of the pika pika no mi) could have awakened it and caused the everlasting daytime at Enies Lobby. Also Kizaru's fruit is already busted so he doesn't even need even more hax lol

@@Malcolm-xz3ef that's a tough one. Most lightning actually comes from the ground, so I assume he could summon lightning bolts from the ground. If we use him powering his ship then his fruit seems more like electricity than lightning. Perhaps he could absorb electricity in the surrounding area. If we go really out there than it could be some form of electro magnetism. He could potentially charge magnetic materials, cause things to float, he could use iron rich substances as Tesla coils and create a massive web of interconnected electricity, allowing him to redirect lightning bolts. All that magnetic charge would likely attract atmospheric lightning creating lightning clouds as well. The terrain would eventually resemble parts of the land of lightning from Naruto. Unfortunately, in a world less reliant on electricity his fruit wouldn't be too much more powerful, in our world he would be god. Creating emp's destroying electrical systems, absorbing electricity and powering machines etc.
Hope he returns, he was my favourite antagonist.

You know why I like Tekking101. He's authentic. He doesn't have really any Call to Actions. He doesn't have sponsors. And he just, keeps things interesting in the beginning the Failure to Cut, Tekking Tumble, Barrie the indomitable brick. Just random stuff, that makes no real sense, stuff that should send new viewer's away. Just nice change of pace from most other tubers.
Correction. The reveal of Kurroseki, seasprism, wasn't until Alabasta, when they were caged in the Croco-Cage. That's when Smoker reveals the existence of Seaprism and reveals that the tip of his weapon is made of it.

Actually in One piece pirate warriors 4 I remember Smoker having a move called "white snake". You activate it by pressing light melee button once then strong melee button. He creates a snake of smoke with one arm and sins it around traping enemies in it.

The Smoker vs. Ace fight ending in a draw is another result of Haki not being properly established until around the timeskip. If the ideas for Haki were cemented in stone back then, and Oda knew that he wanted Ace to use it, there's no reason their fight would've gone in any direction other than Ace's victory. However, at the same time, I could easily see the exchange as Ace playing with Smoker, he wasn't going to take him out when he can be used to teach Luffy a valuable lesson about logia's.

I actually think Smoker has a chance against Ace. Maybe not a serious, “get this over quickly” Ace, but in a long drawn out battle, Smoker actually counters Ace.
Specifically… Smoke doesn’t burn, and it would also replace the oxygen in the air, which is the main fuel for an open flame.
In a drawn it fight, aces fire will make smoke, and Smokers smoke will dampen his fire.

It always made me question why smoke is interior to fire. Smoke suffocates fire, so smoker should've had the upper hand against ace tbh
Fire is what generates and creates smoke and only gets smothered out when the fire runs low on fuel and rhe smoke overwhelms/consumes the fire.
Which is why Ace and Smoker dont have any natural advantages over the other. Ace has no real limit to his flames, or at least, no greater a limit than smoker and rhey seem to produce the same amount of their elements at the same pace. So ultimately they’ll only ever stalemate unless smoker learns of a way to prodice MASSIVE quantities of smoke more than ace could fire

Honestly it comes down to Smoker is just not strong enough to maximize the fruits potential yet. He could be an even more effective logia if he had bet Observation to deploy the maneuvering ability that Katakuri and the Admirals use to avoid haki attacks. As a gas his versatility is great than more solid logias, similar to Ceasar's pitfalls with the Gas fruit.

Porygon isn’t actually the only Pokémon made through the direct creation of humans. As Tekking stated, there’s Mewtwo, who was made by cloning Mew. Aside from that there’s also Genesect, who was technically made into what he is from experimentation with bionic technology on an as-of-yet unnamed ancient Pokémon. Additionally, there’s also Megearna, who was made by an ancient scientist who basically just made a robot daughter. Finally, to my knowledge, there’s the Silvally/Type-Null line, who was made as a genetic chimera by the Aether foundation to try and make Arceus 2, in a similar way to Mewtwo
Always really liked smoker from the very beginning. Yeah hes not quite up there anymore in terms of strength but thats fine since strength isnt everything.
And ive also always really liked tashigi as well so im happy whenever they make an appearance. Hope to see them again soon.

I think when it comes to the entire Smoker if he can ignore the effects of smoke, you also have to wonder if that’s a constant with every other logia. Can Ace and Akainu be immune to heat and any burns? How about Aokiji and Monet?
I would say it can since Monet with how she dressed and seemed just fine. But then there is Ace and Akainu who are shirtless or in Hawaiian shirts. Since if that was the case, everything would feel cold to them. So your mileage with them will be dependent on what you eat.
id say it would not make you just feel colder because you ate a logia fruit based on heat just that you ignore the ill effects of heat so you can go to a desert in a Hawaii shirt or even a winter jacket and it feel the same to you as being in a room temperature room with that outfit (or something along those lines) not that everything feels cold to you though sunbunes might still be a issue maybe idk i could not really see someone like Aokiji dealing with frostbite cause he did not wear a warm enough jacket

We know certain Logia abilities allow you to ignore weather conditions related to it, precisely because the elements themselves are immune to them. Fire and magma aren't affected by high temperatures around them, so the user's won't either. Sakazuki and Sabo would probably be able to walk around in the heat of a desert or a volcanic area without even sweating. But snow and ice would quicklly melt, so their users are weak to it instead.
And it works the other way around too. Monet was comfortable walking around in the cold part of Punk Hazard, wearing very little clothing, even though everyone else had to wear winter clothes. And it would likely be the same for Aokiji.

Well, this is more tangential, but Magnetmite's line is definitely a natural pokemon because it's confirmed to have an ancestor.
Voltorbs are also confirmed to have an ancestor in Legends: Arceus, so they're naturally occurring pokemon too.
Grimer is, weirdly, a mix of human waste products and a natural force. They came alive after radiation from space hit our sludge waste.
Genecect had a fossil base, so I don't think it counts.
A pokemon that _could_ be man-made is Ditto. It's found in the same mansion as the Mewtwo journals, so it's possible that they're failed Mew clones. Mew is the ultimate "learn every move" pokemon, after all.
Besides that, Sun and Moon had Type:Null, which is literally humans trying to "Play Arceus" with it's special ability RKS System..
