Well, that and the choreography of the move finally is actually readable and easy to understand. Before strive, every one has him just go upside down and not move. It's not clear what's going on. And Xrd has the camera flail around in a way that makes it hard to read. It was always a very simple move concept made so horrendously overcomplicated. Strive just made the motions clean, simple and easy to read, while adding a lot of theatrics to it. 10/10 super.

The one from STRIVE is the best one by far. Not because of the animations but because it also makes sense compared to the other ones. He actually uses the rockets from his gauntlets to rise above the skies and fall on the breaker.
That and he actually says "Potemkin" instead of the Japanese way of saying his name (Pochomukin).
Also it's impossible for him to jump that high with those tiny chicken legs.
old potemkin use the rocket to accelerate downward instead, needing to jump less as high

That's why I'm saying that STRIVE's is the best one. Because it makes sense.
@@Saikyokugen it makes sense, on open stages, but on closed ones it will look nonsensical, besides it’s the same thing that allowed chipp to hang on to walls where there were none.

I don't know what that move is called, but a suplex is something different entirely where you bend over backwards to slam someone into the ground. He's just slamming people over his shoulders.

Yea it really got juiced in Strive
The best part about Strive is the length of it. It forces your opponent to watch the entire sequence and reminds them: yeah, you fucked up
Fun Fact, the "Flaming hands" thing was just an animation trick to cover up how awkward it is to show one sprite grabbing another sprite and not looking awful or just not actually grabbing anything at all.
Very smart move, as it looks really cool on top of it
Potemkin really had the best glow-up in the history of fighting games, going from a weirdo nobody really liked to the gorgeous platonic ideal of a grappler
Arcsys really gave Potemkin the greatest super in the history of grappler characters.

Potemkin has no confirmed nationality currently, as his place of origin is stated to be Zepp. Correct me if I am wrong.
I'm guessing this is a judgement made by his skintone. I personally thought he was Black, but he could possibly be Indian instead.

Xrd kinda forgot what made HPB so cool. Adding the jetpacks drew less attention to the suave backflip he did and instead made it look like he was meant to go higher but there was a malfunction.
Strive got rid of the backflip, but I think the jetpacks taking him into the stratosphere makes up for it.

I always loved HPB in Xrd but at the same time I felt like it was still missing something. Strive just perfected the move with arm boosters along with actually flying through the heavens before falling back to the ground.

I feel like you could combine the iconic, original somersault with the magnificent rocketbuster we've got, now.
I'm picturing Pot doing the flip while the rockets come out, and they fire just as he's righting himself; so they kind of catch him just as he's starting to fall.
I can just picture the exhaust ribbons forming loops in the air in front of him as he finishes the roll, before being caught and thrown into the sky by the thrust, as if he were loaded into an oversized slingshot.
Not that I'm knocking what we got, of course. Just a thought...

A derail I like in Strive is that there’s a moment where it feels like zerp gravity for the target. Makes you feel as if Potemkin isn’t some sort of strong guy, he is a machine.

ya because he used to be a slave lore-wise hence the no armor with slave collar back then, but then when Zepp getting coup d'etat and now is free and his best bud gabriel become a president now he's a right hand man - soldier (good for you pot)
I used to hate the change in his design since he looks menacing back then but now he kinda cute which disappoints me at first but kinda growing on me, but then again it's understandable since if you look at his bio, Potemkin's hobby is drawing (so perhaps he request/design his helmet to gabriel lmao) and also dude is actually kind, gentle and honest hence the change in the design (aside from him being a soldier that is).

The move never made sense to me; what with his weird flip he does, it didnt feel any more powerful than a normal buster.
That is until they finally gave him some thrusters to finally show folks heaven (And while they where add it, remove that weird nonsense flip?)

Unrelated, On the SLASH freeze frame of Pot. He has a slightly less detail judging by his eye and helmet, That's because it's a inbetween frame that ain't suppose to hold on for too long. Like how they did in 2d animation. Pretty cool.

You can tackle him out of the super with a disjointed attack, things like may 8H and ram can tackle him out of it if timed REALLY nice but i guess you could also just not jump instead of seeing if you are lucky
I've definitely had HPB get stuffed out by Faust drill before.
For the most part though, trying to contest a HPB is a 1 way trip to the chiropractor.
I always wondered for who this move was more devastating. For grabbed character or Potemkin's legs?
