Glad you are back, you are made of sterner stuff. You know the saying "Wiltshire boy, born and bred, strong in the arm and ...... well you know the rest" Did'nt know about Castle Hill Iron age hill fort. Will have to have a wander. PS I've messaged you. Take care Sandy
Hi Sandy, so grateful you are recovering well and that you are already mobile ready!👍🏻 As always I appreciate your scenic outings so much...the beautiful green nature mixed with extensive historical attractions, all on the same trip! Man you are blessed👌🏻 May your pain and discomfort ease quickly Sandy, kind regards.
Glad to see your recovering well and getting out and about, nice drone footage and very interesting to see the seat post suspension in action, stay safe out there 👍
I was going to say I am surprised to see you out and about, but I am not really... I am pleased to see you wearing a crash hat! Ribs can take a long time to heal, although you feel better, you will be a bit vulnerable for a number of months ahead, so no mud wrestling or cage fighting for you. People will tell you to be careful with codeine as it is addictive, but don't worry, it is addictive if taken regularly and in a big quantity. Take what you need to feel pain free my friend...and look after yourself!!! We don't bounce now we are 26....
No bouncing for me now Bry, your right there. The meds worked surprisingly well for me, it could be because I don't take them often. Feeling good now but when they wear off I know about it:) I wonder if we will start bouncing when we get to 27? Thats only another 11 years away:))
Great to see you out and about again Sandy, a steady level of exercise seems to be the way to go. You're lucky having those lovely quiet lanes on your doorstep. I'm sure many of us would welcome more short route recovery progress videos.
Glad to see you back out on the bike! You have some great riding opportunities near you so have you thought about doing a video showing and mapping all the routes you’ve taken? I’d love to ride them myself! Keep up the good work.
Done the exact same thing five weeks ago on my eMTB down here in Australia. Seventeen year old Brain seems to forget the other fifty years and that getting big air while fun when you make it, has its consequences when it doesn't. Time to ease up a bit as it now takes times to heal. Besides, sleeping in the recliner for three weeks is not comfortable at all. Great to see you are recovering well and my Doctor gave me the same advice. All the best, Mick
Thanks Bob, a bit up and down with the recovery at the mo, maybe time to play some radio. I mostly use CW but can plug in a Mic if you fancy a chat at any time.
I concur what others have said that it's great to see you back in the saddle, and much sooner than I would've anticipated. All the best for many more adventures 😊
Hope you're back to full fitness soon Sandy and well done for getting back cycling so soon. You can't beat a drone to show the full extent of the hill fort. Regards Keith
Belated Happy Birthday 🎉, good to see you with the helmet on and out on the bike again. Hope the chest pain eases and it’s not too long before your off the meds.
Sandy - Glad to see you recovering - bicycle spills can be dangerous. And belated birthday greetings! Thank you for taking us around your beautiful countryside.
Glad to see you out and about again Sandy and hope your recovery continues. Must admit having broken my wrist a couple of times, codeine is a great painkiller but you don't want to be on it for too long as it can get addictive. I've had a suspension seatpost on a previous bike and it was also good. On the whole it provided good comfort and there was only one cadence level when it got into a bounce due to a natural resonance frequency. Happy cycling mate.
These days Bill I just pedal slow and haven't noticed any resonances, however it is adjustable so if it started to self oscillate I may be able to tune it out:)
Good to see you back on the bike bro, many tears ago I bough a spring seat for my bike and was great. I cracked a rib coughing many years ago which I thought was odd but doctor said it was common. Hope you are back to full health before too long. Safe travels. Ken.
Started/Ended like a Clint Eastwood film (loved it). Really sorry to hear that you fell and hurt your ribs, but, Happy Birthday just the same!! Take it easy and let it heal. Thx Dickie for stepping in to help Sandy, nice for him to have a friend like you!! Stay safe and healthy my friend!!
Good to see you up and running again Sandy. I suppose it’s going to be a case of little and often, just to keep it functioning. Hope it starts to feel better soon. All the best.
He’s back! You can’t keep a good man down. I was back teaching PE 4 weeks after my first hp replacement. The older generation are made of sterner stuff. Well done mate👍

That sounds bad Steve, I hope things are going well for you now, I don't have much pain but can feel movement from my rib when I breath or move, feels quite strange
@@WiltshireManwell I'm recovering nicely I think so give it a couple of weeks and I'll try getting on my bike again. Feeling movement from your rib must be very strange, go easy Sandy
Hi sandy great to see your on the mend, I know you've been through a lot in life, we all need to have a positive attitude like you, being fit and active always help wish you well 👍
You'll be fine! Ribs only hurt if you breathe, laugh, move, fart or cry. I had the pleasure of talking to the farmer at the dairy in Avebury the other week. He said to be careful on my bike as someone had fallen off recently and pointed to where you were! I carried on going up to Canton? Horse grounds where I asked two very posh ladies for directions, they like my ebike and remarked that it was 'Very Maddy' (they were v. posh) I said unfortunately, it's not mud and told them of the dairy farm visit earlier. "OH IT'S SH*T!!" screeched one of them in the poshest ever voice! I asked how do we tell if it's mud or sh*t? She said very authoratively 'It's the smell.' I'll probably see you around one day, I'm on a brown bike:) Take care!
Like you told me Sandy, Old guys rule. Take care and keep riding the bike.I have managed to crack ribs a couple of times, it was laughing that was the worst.
Glad you’re on the mend Sandy. I had a motorbike accident that left me with chest injuries, they need you to breathe deeply to avoid infections in the lung - keep up the deep breaths! 😊
I am very happy to see that you are still able to do some of the things that you enjoy so much Sandy. I do know that the rib injuries tend to take a long time to completely heal and the pain and soreness will be in the background for quite some time in the future. I knew that it wouldn't keep you down for long though as long as there are woodlands to visit, bicycles to ride, and trails to hike..... As long as you are careful and get plenty of rest along with it, everything should go just fine my friend. That new seat post suspension system looks like a very interesting addition to the bike, it will probably require some getting accustomed to but it should certainly add some comfort to the rides. Thank you for showing it to us and I will be very interested to see how it works out for you. Thank you Sandy for sharing your day with us and I will see you on the next one. Happy Trails!
I was already getting bored staying in Terry, I had to get out. The seat post needed to be tested. Fortunately the painkillers have worked like a charm, but today I have rested
Good to see you out and about! Just listen to your body. Glad to see you with a proper 'lid' also...mines saved my head from a good bashing a couple of times!! All you need now is a steel body cage!! Thank you for a pleasant trip
Yes, I feel a little vulnerable at the moment, if I was to fall off now I reckon I could do real harm, I will have to take it steady for a while yet, thanks Grom Sandy
Top man Dickie. Good to hear that the Doc gave you some reasonable pain relief. I was wondering because I usually get some verbal when I knock myself about, did Mandy give you some stick. Good thing the old suspension seatpost, had one on my Claud Butler years ago.
Morning, sorry to hear about your tumble particularly as I had a similar experience at the end of September, resulting in a broken shoulder blade. I'm glad to see you back on the bike so soon, I need to get back in the saddle before I seize up 😊. Don't overdo it, take your time and take care.
Hi Alan, It's been a bit up and down, one day I feel OK and the next not so great, I think it's going to be a few weeks before things are properly good. I keep feeling strange movement from the top of my chest where the rib(s) is broken, not sure how it is supposed to fuse and heal if there's movement like that? How is life treating you now? Where are you living? Hope your able to get cycling again soon
@@WiltshireMan hi, the shoulder is improving all the time but every so often it gives me a little dig just to let me know it's still there 😄 I agree it's difficult to see how the bones will fuse if there's movement in that area, I suppose a shoulder blade is simpler as it's a rigid structure unlike a rib. We were living in North West Cumbria till we moved to the North East of Yorkshire about three years ago, I must admit the immediate landscape is fairly flat being as we are a hundred yards from the coast, I'd love to cycle more but my other physical problems make it difficult to say the least. I was watching your "crash" video with apprehension expecting it to happen at any minute so it was a relief when it happened, take care in the future.
Good to see you out and about old bean, just don't overdo it. Interesting hillfort, probably steep enough to not need more than a palisade on the far side, unusual though.
Thanks Si, there is a similar hillfort not far away that has palisades on one side, again taking advantage of the natural fall of the ground on the other side, check out Bincknoll castle on Google maps, its not far from Royal Wooton Bassett
Glad to see you’re back Sandy and making a steady recovery 😊 what you said at the beginning of this video, very true ❤ such a beautiful part of the world, thank you for sharing.
Well done Sandy, good to see you out & about on the bike again. I'm the same age with the very same interests so really enjoy your video's. Deep breathing now fella ! 👌
Good to hear your coping well Sandy, i broke a couple of lower ribs a few years back, yes it hurts and is disabling, i understand your discomforts mate. All the best and mend soon.
I think I've broke one rib high up on my side almost under my arm Paul. Pain levels are quite low thanks to pain killers but I can feel strange movements in my chest when I move sometimes
Good to see you out and about again. Take it steady and I'm sure you will be OK. Don't like taking too many pain killers but sometimes you have to give in and they do have their uses.
It's been one step forward and two steps back since making this video Clarkie, Hope I can soon get out for a ride either on the push bike or the Enfield
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along, Sandy. Did you get snow? One of my Facebook friends from the UK posted a picture of first snow. Cheers!
Great news that your feeling better and back out on your adventures 😀... Iv been using the Suntour NCX seat post for a few weeks ... Does make a difference . Found it takes a few adjustments to suit weight and riding styles..
Take it easy with those ribs Sandy, I had a very similar accident on a mountain bike in my mid 50s and it took months before the pain finally went away. After years of riding hard tail mountain bikes I decided my backside needed a rest and rather than paying for an expensive full suspension bike I fitted the same seat post as you and the difference is amazing, especially over rough trails. I also decided to give my old knees an easier time and fitted a Befang mid drive motor, so I'm back to doing long rides through the hills. By the way, I spend far more time on motorbikes than mountain bikes and that won't change until I can't hold them up anymore 😁. Thanks for your interesting rides and equipment reviews, I've watched most of them over the last couple of years. Cheers, Mick
Thanks Mick, It's been 3 weeks now since the crash and things are going well for me, I can't feel or hear the crunching sounds when I move and breath now so the ribs must have knit together, pain is reducing nicely too.
Glad to see you have been able to get back on the horse again so to speak. Rib injuries can and are very painful. By the way, Happy belated birthday. Only the best people are born in October!
Good on you Sandy, have had bust ribs many times, so know how you feel. Five or six weeks till you are back to normal. I would steer well clear of pills for pain medication, a few good bumpers of cooking whisky not only kills the pain, but also puts you in a bloody good mood.
Great to see you out and about so soon Mr Wiltshire man, but please go carefully! Those painkillers must be good, or maybe your're made of tough stuff 💪 After my bike tumble 6 weeks ago I walked for the first few weeks, I'm now back "on the bike" and the pain has pretty much gone. Best wishes from Nottingham.
Pain killers are great Peter and working well for me,I can still feel clicking in my chest when I breath from the broken rib but it no longer hurts as much

Good for you my friend! Love to see you back up and moving well
Glad you're on the mend Sandy 👍
It's been one step forward and two steps back since making this video Clarkie, Hope I can soon get out for a ride either on the push bike or the Enfield
@@WiltshireMan Aah, that's a shame. The joys of "middle age" when we don't bounce as well as when we were younger. Take it easy Sandy......
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along, Sandy. Did you get snow? One of my Facebook friends from the UK posted a picture of first snow. Cheers!
Hi Dan, No we haven't had any snow down here in Wiltshire
Great news that your feeling better and back out on your adventures 😀... Iv been using the Suntour NCX seat post for a few weeks ... Does make a difference . Found it takes a few adjustments to suit weight and riding styles..
Mine seemed OK straight out of the packaging, very pleased with it sofar
It is good value for the money, and not the heavy price of the Redshift Shockstop @@WiltshireMan
@@WiltshireMan Good to hear Sandy, being fit and healthy will be speeding up your recovery. All the best, Mick
Glad to see you have been able to get back on the horse again so to speak. Rib injuries can and are very painful.
By the way, Happy belated birthday. Only the best people are born in October!
Very true Michael:)
Good on you Sandy, have had bust ribs many times, so know how you feel. Five or six weeks till you are back to normal. I would steer well clear of pills for pain medication, a few good bumpers of cooking whisky not only kills the pain, but also puts you in a bloody good mood.
Ahh yes I could do with a wee Dram:)
Great to see you out and about so soon Mr Wiltshire man, but please go carefully! Those painkillers must be good, or maybe your're made of tough stuff 💪
After my bike tumble 6 weeks ago I walked for the first few weeks, I'm now back "on the bike" and the pain has pretty much gone. Best wishes from Nottingham.
Pain killers are great Peter and working well for me,I can still feel clicking in my chest when I breath from the broken rib but it no longer hurts as much
Hey WM, sorry to hear you had a prang but glad you're on the mend. Go well.
