51 year old hockey player here, didn't recieve any bad injuries that I can recall, other than a hit I took at the end of last season that gave me mild lumbar pain for a few days then was gone. woke up one morning about a month later and couldn't walk. shooting sciatic pain down both legs and all the numbness and tingling that comes with that. that has since changed, its now pain in the sciatic location and debillitating pain every morning in the right hip region. I have been trying some therapy, nothing other than alternating sitting in a chair and walking very short distances throughout the day works. I do believe I can feel my right SI joint at the dimple moving around more than usual as I walk. Any therapy that does seem like it worked only works for a few minutes, then it all comes back.

Hello doctor. This video is incredibly helpful. Do you know of any providers in south Florida that offer this sort of manipulation? For the last 14 yrs I’ve been dealing with fallout of military injuries and in December of this yr was in MVA that made everything worse. I finally was able to narrow the main source of pain down to SI joint issues. I was trapped into SI joint fusion/screw fixation in April 2022 & the recovery has been challenging. My wife just gave birth to our first child and I drastically need to improve my quality of life. Any assistance you can provide would be so very appreciated.
All started with a not so strong pain in my left calf and back of my knee, didn't paid attention. Then I've done legs in the gym and disaster happened. The pain in the calf was the strongest I ever felt in my life and it took 3 weeks. Now I'm in my fourth week, pain decreased but moved in my left buttock near the sacrum bone. Initially I thought it my be sciatica or piriformis syndrome but not so sure about that after gathering info about SI pain.
Have SI Joint Dysfunction. Right side slips out of place. Hurts Horribly- when Set In place- Pain immediately goes. Therapist showed me an exercise; but it would be so much easier to have someone fix it for me! Dealing with it for a Long Time!! Didn’t know was so common however. Thanks for Info!
RacinJason77 Don’t have a Link. Was shown at Physical Therapy... Just wrote it on another comment- Will copy & paste it to you. Hopefully understandable... There’s 2 methods- hope helps! So Not Fun In Pain..
RacinJason77 Heard one doc say press opposite side exactly where it hurts on Painful side ; Pressure may move the pain around; so then keep pressing on opposite side accordingly until pain had been pushed down & out leg. Or... Take a Swimming pool Noodle - put a broomstick in it. Lay on back. Raise knees up. The side that hurts; place that leg, knee bent Behind Noodle. Other Leg Bent Over the Top of Noodle. Hold ends of noodle with loose arms. Relax after putting legs into that position. Breathe in & at same time- Hurting side - Press Forward Against Noodle .. And @ Same Time - Opposite Leg will be Pushing Back on Noodle. Hold few seconds. Breath out : Lower Legs; Relax & or Stretch Position Legs & .Do Again.... If done correctly, will Align Pelvis & Pain will Decrease Tremendously Immediately ... If pelvis over corrects - meaning other side then hurts- Reverse push & pulling leg simultaneously movement across Noodle.... Although it doesn’t usually over correct for me... ** Now if all this is understandable... It will help... Although Definitely is Much Easier if someone could do for us.. Believe me I Agree!! A Therapist showed me & it does work. Also, Core Strengthening Exercises Are Recommended & they do help... I had to learn to rid pain first to even consider any type exercises...After feeling how much relief that weird self adjustment really works- it helped tremendously for an otherwise bed ridden feeling type of extreme pain.
I disagree with the biggest weight joint is the sacral iliac joint. You can look at google, it will state hip joint is the biggest weight joint in the body. What technique do you use and how do I search for someone that uses the same? My old chiro treated me like this and haven't been lucky enough to find anyone since relocating.
I would ask when calling; 'Does He/She use Thompson drop tables?' or 'Does He/She use drop tables?' Let them know you have a 'difficult SI joint' and your previous Chiropractor used this type of table for Your treatment.
my situation is much worse and i am 46. my pain has been going on 2 years and then some. left side much more painful than right but in the last 3 weeks my right has been hurting more. pain stays mostly in the SI joint area and rarely went down legs. but the pain is going up higher in my back as well. I have had chronic pain in my S1 joint for the last 4 months. I had a lumbar fusion S1 to L3 last December. I have physio but it seems to aggravate it. Still on morphine and gabapentin. Cannot find any advice for sacroiliac pain after lumbar fusion.
I've also had a lumbar fusion at L4-L5-S1 almost 11 years ago. But I've been out of work now for a week, almost unable to walk because of this same problem that flats up often. Will this work for someone like me?
I was in the gym and afterwards for over a month now my low back area hurts so bad. Its more on the right side but also goes to left side. Its also by tge sacrolilic region. But no leg pain.. hurts bad when sitting. Not so bad when lying flat on bed. Do people always get leg pain with it? Will this go away on its own?

I’ve had left si joint dysfunction since 2009. I have chronic pain and weakness in the left leg. I had aqua therapy recently and lifted the legs laterally too high during the therapy. I didn’t account for the weight difference in the pool. I started having pain two days later so severe that it hurt just to barely move. I was like that for about a week. I was in good shape and ran daily before this happened. It came after after an overuse injury to the left knee. I limped from the knee which affected the si joint eventually. The only thing that helped for awhile was a medial branch block. Do you think chiropractic manipulation could help me at this point?
Great job Dr. My Chiropractor is working with me now to help with my discomfort. My symptoms are making my lower legs tired and soreness in my butt cheeks along with grown pain. I've had mine for three years after boogie boarding with my kids Geeeesh lol.

I had chiropractic adjustment when I was pregnant. The pain was much worse when I was pregnant and chiropractic helped enormously. No problems at all from adjustment.
Ali Youssef yes mine moved out of place I’m a track runner very strong for my weight but my gluteus and hamstrings are very weak compared to my quads and other muscles told my strength and conditioning coach and he had me do single leg bridges and reverse hyphers yo strengthen my lower back too and I’ve been good since
I had the exact symptoms she had, even knee pain.I was told SI dysfunction, tilted pelvis also. I have been going to PT for a few weeks, getting an adjustment, however it only lasts a couple days.
TheJDocRealMinute Yes, but only see PT 2x oer week, have an elastic band at home...should probably do more to strengthen medius glut muscles, I sit all day at a computer... also told.my pelvis is rotated too. As I understand sitting can contribute to this condition. I have found some "self alignment exercises" using a yoga block, belt, going to try. I also just started with a personal trainer to try to gain overall strength and attempted to do a squat 5 lb weight and I go back at an angle. couldn't do that or lunges. Going to have to avoid all of those types of exercises for now.
I would suggest to work with the Physical Therapist and Personal Trainer to get increased strength and keep mobility in the pelvis, SI joints, and hip joints.
I broke this bone a long with almost everything around it and my femur as well. Pelvic fractures, coccyx, tailbone, pubic ring, etc. I have chronic pain from all of them and never received surgery.
Can you please help me? Hi, Actually I just need to know where to start with my stretching exercises. My issues are: 1. scoliosis (since age 12) no real issues except some rhomboid muscle pain that's getting better. 2. Hyper lumbar lordosis. Kills when I sleep on my stomach. 3.SI joint pain, specifically on the left. Makes it hard to sleep and get out of bed, that's stomach or back sleeping ( back is the worst). 4. Neck pain, mostly from driving but lately from sleeping to accommodate my back. Hx: I had rt rotator cuff surgery 12/18, 100% recovered and joint pain started 2/19, progressively getting worse. Had trigger point therapy massage 8/19 on my thighs/ hips which made my pain worse. Pt was slightly helpful but had to d/c because I developed an ulcer due to heavy use of NSAIDs which I had to stop taking. Joined planet fitness but canceled the membership in lieu of the park district with a heated pool and yoga classes. I haven't started yet because of the Corona virus. This morning I did 10 min on this cycle machine followed by lower body stretches and then the bands. I just don't know if 1 thing is making the other problems worse or if I'm doing duplicate exercises with different things which will make it worse. Lastly, I've lost 47 lbs since late September with no exercise ( because of pain ) diet pills or crazy diets but no help

Hey Doc, mine is hurting around those "dimples". It's just generalized aches and pains in the center around and above those two "dimples" if I stand too much it really hurts. Sitting not so much. Can you tell me what this may be? SI? Also are there some basic stretches or exercises I can do to alleviate some pain?
Mine is in the dimples as well. Have had for years and getting worse. Desperate for some relief from pain! Have heard PT can make it worse so have not had it seen about it for several years now. Injections did not help. Also severe bursitis in both hips.
mine is quite severe pain which also includes around the buttocks area and down the back of my leg, right side. I've had this issue before and it went away with a lot of stretching and a few massages by my local physio, however this time it has come back it's worse. I cannot find a comfortable position, standing, sitting, laying down... no relief. Stretching isn't helping, that's if I can stretch as the pain is too much. What would be my best option, would a ct scan show much? I want to avoid any kind of injection, however if I cannot find relief in the next week or so I'm willing to go down that path.
From your experience, would you say a chiropractor is the best option? I'll try give you some more info. This picture demonstrates just one of the stretches I was told to do for my prior inflammation. I can go all the way to the left, but I can barely move to the right from center position. I'm not sure if it's just physical pain limiting me, or an actual injury. I will say the pain was severe when trying to rotate to the right. I will do my best to see someone asap about this issue regardless and am thankful for your reply. cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/991/1*LIUk0zfwNB7spy_FR3NsvA.jpeg
Best to catch it earlier and treat so you can stay active and healthy weight. I recently was diagnosed, I was struggling with my workouts and making my 5 mile 5 days a week impossible, I thought I had a fractured hip it hurt so bad. Now that Im diagnosed I can treat it, it was due to minor scoliosis and uneven legs (1 longer). I don’t want to give up my active lifestyle and the pain is so bad my lower back looks up and I can’t move much. Early detection is good you can slow down the progression by making changes getting healthcare and adding things like hyaluronic acid bone broth vit d and And k2 to my jet.

I have tried many things including my chiropractor doing all these exercises. When doing the one on the side my joint will pop, but it will still feel like it either needs another pop or is on the verge of breaking. @@thejdocrealminute4648 Thanks for getting back with me so quickly! I have, they said they don’t see any significant injury to discs or anything. It really feels like the right pop could fix it all but I have been to the chiropractor, done stem as well as adjusting there. Also did PT for a little when the injury first occurred before having to return to school. Dry needling seemed to hit the pain point by SI the best, but I don’t recall much relief honestly.
It was done exactly as you did it. That type of twisting does NOT work for my SI whatsoever. I ended up sore exactly as if I'd injured it in Jiu Jitsu. I was pissed off at myself for not tell him NOT to do it.
SI Joint adjustments are 'individual' to the patient I treat. If a twisting adjustment increases the pain then, next time I won't do it and leave the patient on their stomach. In addition, I recommend to the patient to NOT sit cross legged for 30 days in order to strengthen the ligaments that were injured.
Nice presentation. Informative without a lot of boring unrelated tangents. Very nicely done. Thanks!

Very impressive; tips on how to avoid the injury would be appreciated, but it looks like I’m a few years too late
Just had this done! Still sore in the morning, but going back again in a week than just one more week again to make sure it's not a serious problem.
Remember, the stability depends on the strength of the muscles around it. And---'how long has it be like that?'
@@thejdocrealminute4648 This is the 3rd week. All on the right side and I have fluid in my left knee. It's bad today 😞. It feels like it's broke but I went to work for 6 hours all standing of course. The heating pad makes it tolerable. I still can walk, right, so that's good.
@@christinafisher6169 how are you now after all this time
Hello doctor.
Just call them up and ask if they use a 'Thompson Drop Table' for their treatments. Congrats on the new born! Good luck!
Thanks for the info I had pain for almost a year and my doc did this and it fixed it!
Great to hear!
Do you see a Chiropractic Physician? Check the proximal tibiofibular joint? If that is not moving? You will have pain.
Have SI Joint Dysfunction. Right side slips out of place. Hurts Horribly- when Set In place- Pain immediately goes.
Therapist showed me an exercise;
but it would be so much easier to have someone fix it for me!
Dealing with it for a Long Time!! Didn’t know was so common however.
Thanks for Info!
Would love to know the home exercise. (link to example maybe?) Been trying lots, pain won't stay away.

Don’t have a Link. Was shown at Physical Therapy... Just wrote it on another comment- Will copy & paste it to you.
Hopefully understandable... There’s 2 methods- hope helps!
So Not Fun In Pain..

Heard one doc say press opposite side exactly where it hurts on Painful side ; Pressure may move the pain around; so then keep pressing on opposite side accordingly until pain had been pushed down & out leg.
Or... Take a Swimming pool Noodle - put a broomstick in it.
Lay on back. Raise knees up. The side that hurts; place that leg, knee bent

Other Leg Bent Over the Top of Noodle.
Hold ends of noodle with loose arms.
Relax after putting legs into that position.
Breathe in & at same time- Hurting side -
Press Forward Against Noodle .. And
@ Same Time - Opposite Leg will be Pushing Back on Noodle. Hold few seconds.
Breath out : Lower Legs;
Relax & or Stretch
Position Legs & .Do Again....
If done correctly, will Align Pelvis & Pain will Decrease Tremendously Immediately ... If pelvis over corrects - meaning other side then hurts-
Reverse push & pulling leg simultaneously movement across Noodle....

Wrap with Thick Towel a pvc pipe , broom handle- anything shaped cylinder instead of swimming pool noodle if needed.
Thanks!

my situation is much worse and i am 46. my pain has been going on 2 years and then some. left side much more painful than right but in the last 3 weeks my right has been hurting more. pain stays mostly in the SI joint area and rarely went down legs. but the pain is going up higher in my back as well. I didn’t account for the weight difference in the pool. I started having pain two days later so severe that it hurt just to barely move. I was like that for about a week. I was in good shape and ran daily before this happened. It came after after an overuse injury to the left knee. I limped from the knee which affected the si joint eventually. I had the exact symptoms she had, even knee pain.I was told SI dysfunction, tilted pelvis also. I have been going to PT for a few weeks, getting an adjustment, however it only lasts a couple days.
Are you going strength exercises to strengthen the muscles surrounding the joint?

Hi,
Actually I just need to know where to start with my stretching exercises. My issues are:
1. scoliosis (since age 12) no real issues except some rhomboid muscle pain that's getting better.
Have you seen a Chiropractor for the pain? There is alot of information here to give you a 100% correct answer.

I would recommend to find a Chiropractor in your area first to do a full examination and treatment first.

Now that Im diagnosed I can treat it, it was due to minor scoliosis and uneven legs (1 longer).

@@joshuasmith1037 You had an MRI?
@@thejdocrealminute4648 I actually did not. I did have X Rays on spine lumbar (2-3 views). Would an MRI be worth undergoing?
@@joshuasmith1037 Yes, request an MRI to rule out: www.aans.org/en/Patients/Neurosurgical-Conditions-and-Treatments/Tarlov-Cyst
That adjustment while being twisted would fck me up COMPLETELY. I've had my PT do it and it's the wrong thing for SI joint injuries.
How was it done? 'Twisting' a patient is something that I would NOT do.
